ok this is cool. As someone who played Gauntlet in the arcade (Blue Wizard needs food badly... Blue Wizard is about to die...) this is awesome to see. I like all the mechanics.
I wasn't terribly sold till I heard how satisfying the pain and death sounds those goblins make were, when being pummeled. Their suffering sounds addictive.
I was like wait, Hammerwatch 2 has been out for a while and kind of a dud... Noticing that it's HEROES of Hammerwatch 2 got me HYPED the first one was so freaking good. Edit: So near the end he mentions this seems to be going more toward a run based roguelike... For those curious, Hammerwatch and Heroes of Hammerwatch are different games. Heroes of Hammerwatch was a roguelite type games, you could upgrade your town and level up to gain power to make the runs easier but the game also had more difficulty levels and completing a run with each class upgraded your stats permanently. There was pretty much limitless progression.
HoH was amazing, I don't have much faith in HoH2 after playing the demo. They shouldn't have worked on Hammerwatch 2 imo, only HoH. it took him 30 minutes to do one run after launching the game, the game takes way too long when first one spawned you in the town after launching the game. Then the open forest, it looks nice but it feels terrible to play as you're very easily lost in the linear-maze that they build. The first game spawned you in the bottom floor of the tower which immediately gave you the first staircase to the next floor, the maps felt much more concise. And also were randomly generated which I hope this would also be.
SO quick history lesson. Medevil inns would collect customers urine in barrels for resale in all kinds of industrial stuff. It could be used to bleach linens, help in leather tanning, etc etc. The inns would also sell your poop to local farmers for fertilizer.

Because of that it becomes lodged under the skin so when the bee tries to fly away, and this next part is pretty gruesome, it quite literally tears itself away leaving behind part of its abdomen and internal organs. Most other bee species, like bumble bees, have smooth stingers. So when they sting they can just retract it, fly away and live to sting another day! Nerd mode disengaged.
oh wow i didnt know they were making an HoH 2 - I have hundreds of hours in the first one and still play it now and then (never got beyond NG+10) . This one looks realllyyy good graphically. cant wait to play it when it releases
This looks good, I hope they will add more character classes. Like a summoner who can conjure lots of minions to kill enemies for him. Or a melee rogue with high crit chance, evade and dash abilities.

STOKED!! edit: a little disappointed in the reused assets. Both Heroes of Hammerwatch, and then Hammerwatch II used the same beetles, wolves, and hornets. I didn't play Hammerwatch 1 to see if they were used back then too, but now three games in a row and they can't refresh their enemy art? That's disappointing.
I liked the first games but HW2 got kind of abandoned so I'm probably gonna hold off on this one until I can for sure say it is in a good and done state.

Loved Heroes of Hammerwatch until the last expansion which was buggy as heck and made it hard to play with another person. Kind of killed it for me there as I don't think they ever fixed it.
hammerwatch 1 was eh heros of hammerwatch was amazing, one of the best coop experiences I've ever played, the sense of progression was so much fun, every boss seemed undefeatable until we did it. hammerwatch 2 was a mess heros of hammerwatch 2 seems to also be a mess since they focused most of their work on hammerwarch 2 and then pivoted when they more people are playing the years old HoH as opposed to the newly released H2
I have already maxed out this Demo, this is the game we wanted instead of Hammerwatch 2. I own HW2 and it looks as if Crackedshell is combining the two which is awesome.
Played Hammer Watch II, quickly dropped it since the devs quickly dropped it. Seems like a cash grab from the company. This could easily be part of the RPG as a separate game mode, let's be honest both titles aren't exactly massive games. Instead of $30 each, pack em together and make it $30 for both. Then last, but certainly not least, maybe actually support and update the game. It's a shame because I do think its a cool title. More than likely will be worth getting on a Steam Summer Sale
HW2 was a bug-infested mess and it still hasn't been fixed, according to a quick skim of the forum. It also had bizarre design decisions like timed fetch quests. Not interested in anything from these devs.
