I was thinking about buying one for myself because I think it's hard to French braid your own head so this should make it easier. Plus if your arms get sore doing your own hair within 30 seconds the clips will hold everything in place while you take a break. I do agree with you though. It is easier to just learn to French braid someone else's hair instead of buying this.
When you’ve been doing something for so long, sometimes it’s hard to remember how difficult or confusing it was when you were learning that skill or technique. For example, I can scratch bake really well. I can make everything from cookies, to cakes, to bread. For me those things aren’t hard. For other people those skills are hard. Sometimes things can be confusing at first when learning. With everything, the more you practice the better you get. If you suck at it, ask for tips for what you can improve then keep doing it and tweaking it until you get it right. Eventually you’ll be good at it.
@@chellejack3480 Practice practice practice. Thats how we learn. But practice without that contraption and just use your own God given tools. You can do it!
I agree that the tool thing is overly complicated. Whatever happened to left/right over center, adding hair before each twist? I can't see that the tool is less complicated then learning to french braid without it. I taught myself on my American Girl doll in 4th grade...nearly 30 years ago...😄👵
Absolutely-I remember my mom learned how in the 80s & when I wore it to school, all the girls were like ooohh. Also remember my mom demonstrating how to do it for her friends on me, & their ooohs and ahhs. I can't imagine what they'd think of some of the styles Mindy does!
I actually learned how to French braid myhair from watching a CGH video long before I ever French braided anyone else's hair. I'd be interested to see how this works on a DIY hairstyle.
A tool like this from the early 90s is how my mom learned to braid my hair! I know how braid but my daughter has such fine hair it is really difficult to keep hold of to add in! I may grab one of the smaller ones for her and the larger one for me. I love that it holds the hair in place so that if I need to rest my arms for a moment I could!
I loved the challenge between the office staff using the tool. Such a fun, new idea for the fab or fails. I'd like to see more like this. There's no way my hair would fit in that tool. My youngest daughter's hair might be thin enough for me to use it but my oldest daughter & myself have WAY to much hair for either of those!!
I can French braid other people's hairs just fine, but I have a hard time doing my own hair because I can't see what I'm doing on the back of my head. Would this tool also help with that?
The only thing I know is people with really long hair usually flip their hair upside down, braid it and then flip it back 🤷🏿♀️but I think they're not doing it for it to be sleek.
When I French braid my own hair (which is definitely more difficult than braiding someone else's hair) after I do part of it I take a hand mirror and check the back to make sure it looks ok and there are no pieces sticking out at weird angles. If there are I undo it to the part where I messed up or I start the whole thing over again. After awhile you get it right on the first try almost every time. I also take frequent breaks by resting my elbows on the sink :P You could also get one of those mirrors with multiple sections that "fold" so you can see the back of your head without having to hold a mirror up, I'm not sure what they're called though.
I relate to this so hard. My hair is super thick, and down to my butt. I’m also 6’2”, so that’s much longer than an average height girl with waist length hair. In addition, all the mirrors in my house are too short. French braiding for me has just never been an option.
If you have long and thick hair like me then you kinda can’t braid too well so this is helpful I didn’t even get a whole braid done without it and with it I did multiple
Thank you so much. The great thing about this tool is that it lets me take breaks when I can't hold my hands up any longer Now I can focus on keeping the strands even instead of desperately trying to finish the braid while my arms are screaming!
thank you guys so much !!!! Now i know how hard it is, and... i want to use it on myself... if you would have tried that too, that would even be better for me, personally. But at least now I know it is not very easy to do it yourself and.. watch the size of the tool ! Thx so much for this fun and honest review !!!! Appreciate it so much !
Smaller size braids (like bang braid or headband braids) works well with smaller one. Bigger one if you're braiding all your hair into one braid or two... does take practice, but after you get the hang of it it's an awesome hair tool and capable of not only French braid, but Dutch, fishtail, e.t.c honestly it's like an extra hand for braiding your own hair.😍
Love these videos. I didn't even know these were on the market. Honestly though, it's not hard to french braid. I learned just by watching someone else do it and then practicing on my own hair in 7th grade. It took quite a few attempts to make it look good, but now as a mom of 2 girls I'm SO glad I learned how to do it on my own! So excited for your new hair care line in January!
Some people dont wantbto learn. I had a friend that would pay me to come over to her house to French braid her kids hair. I told her j would teach her, she said no, I dont have time for that. Idk
I’ve been watching your channel for so long. And still haven’t gotten a French Braid down. I have the large tool, just sitting in my hair accessory bag. I’m scared of it! Plus my heart is super curly, thick and long. But this definitely seemed helpful because the directions confused me so much
I’ve been thinking about buying this tool. I have carpal tunnel and I have barely any grip strength but I love braids. I’m hoping when I buy it it will give me some help with that. ☺️
I got these when they first came out in the 90s they are so easy to use they also came with a large and small braider so you got two, an instruction video and a booklet, I recently purchased one and there wasnt even a booklet with it which is a shame as I forgot how to do a dutch braid with this
I feel like it would be impossible to do a French braid on yourself that's why I wanted to buy one of these to help myself. I'm hoping I'll be able to do one myself if I use the tool. Otherwise I would lose track of where the hair is going and coming from. And my arms get sore and I would need a break. This seems like it would hold your hair while you rest your arms.
I love a good fab or fail I suck at doing French braids so any help I can get the better....I hope y’all had a great thanksgiving and trip. God Bless 😁
Oh my goodness, i love you guys! Brooklyn and bailey (and kamri noel)are literally one of my FAVORITE youtubers ever. I discovered the family channel, and i love the hairstyles. Have a great day everyone!
This little device is good because it can help to teach people how to braid. One of the hardest things to do is know which pieces to grab when you make your braids. I with I had a device like this to help create double Dutch braids.
For some reason I can dutch braid really easy (it's a reverse French braid practically to people who dont know) but it takes me a bit to get in the groove for a french braid. Especially in my own hair. Good thing I like the look of Dutch braids more😂
I learned how to French braid by watching your tutorials over and over. Those contraptions would have totally discouraged me lol my suggestion is that they watch your tutorials lol
As someone who fully understands how French braiding works but is completely uncoordinated, I would definitely use this. My issue is I dont have more hands !
My goodness... it seems like this tool makes it 10 times more difficult to French braid... It really is a simple braid and this just makes it ridiculously confusing.
I will have to watch this 50 times before this will sink in! Lol Always wanted to be able to French braid my own hair. Enjoy this video thanks for sharing!😁
Would you consider doing a video about hot rollers? I have curly hair and like vintage hairstyles, but I'm not sure about buying a hot roller set. Wouuld love your insight.
I remember watching the old videos where the girls were so young and you did their hair in the bathroom. I use to do the coolest hairstyles in elementary school lol!! I use to get so many compliments like the bow bun
My mom had a green one of those when my sister and I were maybe 4. We always tried to figure out how to use it. We’re 21 now and I still never learned how to French braid. Hope fully this helps! 😂
I used this thing as kid. You don’t keep the tool in your hand, the hair & head hold it in place. If you know how to do a basic braid, keep the technique in mind.
French braiding by yourself is much easier on hair that doesn't go below the middle of your back. My hair used to be near my knees and once I cut it to below my shoulder blades in college I was finally able to french braid my own hair. This tool would have been lovely for me back then.
I have hair that almost touches my bum and I never do anything with it because I don’t know how. I love braids and would love to try this. Not sure I would be able to do it on myself though. Would love to try this on someone else though.

Dana for sure. Hers was the neatest but everyone else did so well 💕💖. I would definitely wear all of their braids but especially Dana.

I feel like this makes French braiding much harder then it actually is 😂
Jess W. Same!
Dakota Brown right??
Probably because you already know how to. :)
Petrichor yeah that’s true but trust me without these, it’s way easier. You have more control
Dakota Brown mkloo
This seems overly complicated. French braids aren’t that difficult with just using your hands...
Sarahr98998 not everyone is as talented as you🤷🏻♀️
I can't do it. I dont get it.

It would’ve been interesting to see you also teach them how to do a French braid without the tool, and see which came out better!!!
I wanted to see Mindy try it too 😁🏖
Remember middle school, when french braiding was the most coveted skill in the world?
It's pretty easy tbh
and then girls would braid each other’s hair in class and teachers would go “my classroom is not a hair salon”
Absolutely-I remember my mom learned how in the 80s & when I wore it to school, all the girls were like ooohh. Also remember my mom demonstrating how to do it for her friends on me, & their ooohs and ahhs. I can't imagine what they'd think of some of the styles Mindy does!
Remember when your ALL grown up, and you have a kid in high school and one in college....and you STILL have NO clue how to French braid!?!??.....🤔😆😆😒
inkasrain haha yes. I taught myself to do it with only my hands, no brush and no mirror. This has served me well today.
Whenever I try to French braid my hair it looks like an octopus so this should be interesting
Lol same
Lol same
Lol same
mine used to do that but a friend helped and now I. can do it! So my tip is to ask a friend!
Same
The small one could be used for kiddos hair.
Honestly though it would be a great tool for dads with daughters to teach them the technique
Or mums who don't know how to braid...
If feel like real life would be having them do the braid on themselves. Most people are not going to have someone there to do it for them.
Agreed! I'd like to see people try it on their own
This is great for dads with daughters. Or mothers who struggle with brading
I bought one to do on myself and it didn’t work at all.
I actually learned how to French braid myhair from watching a CGH video long before I ever French braided anyone else's hair. I'd be interested to see how this works on a DIY hairstyle.

I can’t do a French braid my arm gets too tired because I have too much hair..
Me too
I can only do a rope braid or a 3 strand braid. It is hard with my hands.
Same - except my hair is just below collarbone (so it's not long), it's just very thick
Feel ya, Now that my hair hits my tail bone I dont french braid anymore
I relate to this so hard. My hair is super thick, and down to my butt. I’m also 6’2”, so that’s much longer than an average height girl with waist length hair. In addition, all the mirrors in my house are too short. French braiding for me has just never been an option.

“WAIT 1/3????!!!” oh Dana hahahaha
Dana messes up at the end by reverse braiding but it ended up looking a lot cooler than the others.

learning to do that is just as much works as just learning to french braid 😂 LOL
Good attempt girls! Ceci rocked it all the way, 😂. She was so focused!

This is how I learned to French braid in the early 2000s!
My mom had a green one of those when my sister and I were maybe 4. We always tried to figure out how to use it. We’re 21 now and I still never learned how to French braid. Hope fully this helps! 😂
Dana! The best one!
I feel like the smaller one is maybe for like a section of hair, not your full head, or for a child's head.
I myself dont need that but i well buy this for my sister and aunt they so need to learn ... Braiding is fuuun for sure
Dana started an inside out braid when she got to the bottom so it looks a little weird but they are all good
Good video. I think I will try this tool. I am really good at a regular braid i try got the French braid 🙂
So can you do it on your own head? I feel like I would mess it up on myself.
Dana....good idea 💡 Min.
I used this thing as kid. You don’t keep the tool in your hand, the hair & head hold it in place. If you know how to do a basic braid, keep the technique in mind.
Hope this works well. I love having my hair French braided but hate doing it
This is perfect for you! Definitely, recommend the larger tool. 💋's -Mindy

I love that Kamri just randomly came in. Xxx
Personally I cannot do french braids on myself... the first time I tried I ended up with a dutch braid... is it because I braid backward??
Are you gonna do Vlogmas this year??? 💖💖💕💕

I think Ceci’s braid looked the best.
I have hair that almost touches my bum and I never do anything with it because I don’t know how. I love braids and would love to try this. Not sure I would be able to do it on myself though. Would love to try this on someone else though.
Can I see someone try to do the braid with the tool on themselves? Cause that I think would be hard.
There was a tool like this a LONNNG time ago, but it had a few more slots so you could do more complicated braiding patterns. I think it was called “Braidini”. I can see that tools like this would help in braiding someone else’s hair, especially more complicated braiding patterns.
