- I decided to enter a Hard Enduro, I’ve been watching hard enduro videos on You Tube for years, I’ve been to events and I’ve filmed them, I felt i was ready to ride in one, for the experience, to see how my riding skill level stacked up and for the fun.
The DVMCC Hard Enduro at Bonnie Doon proved to be a great race, I loved it, it was hard in parts and it was also a lot of fun. I now know what I need to work on and getting over bigger logs is number one on my list.

I haven’t laughed so much in ages Rod, you’re a great rider given a late start, but more so a master story teller with fantastic wit and humour, this was the most enjoyable thing I’ve watched in a long time,👍

Absolutely loved it Rodney. The commentary was halirous. I want to enter my first Hard Enduro this year. A mate and I got bikes last year and have been playing in the hills around Albury.

All I can say is the best way to prepare for a Hard Enduro is to ride more, and each time you ride, you push yourself to do the steeper hills. That alone will improve your ride fitness and your skills, get stuck in it you'll love the challenge.

The last guy passed this vlog onto me. Funny watching your enjoyable typical dirtbike misery. Perhaps a little Monty python in that.... The single track quest, is Star Glen a private club circuit, land, secrets safe with me. Many events a year. Thanks for the entertainment.
Yes Star Glen is a private property with plenty of awesome tracks. COVID buggered the events but DVMCC has 5 to 7 events a year.
Great vid rod! Hopefully I can line up with you on the next one! (Ps brave man wearing the metal watch band, all I can think about is that getting jammed in a bike with a de-gloving injury to follow 😑🤮)
Thanks Tim, it’s a good point you make about the watch band. I haven’t been wearing it for a few months now. It’s been retired from motorbike riding.

I rode in the 2023 Bonnie Doom Hard Enduro race two weekends ago, did much better than my first, got 6 laps in and finished 3rd in the Bronze Over 45 class. And yes the mines are still there and still scary.👍

I’ve been taking the opportunity to go over as many logs as I can. I realise how important it is in these hard enduros. But the skill is coming along.
@@MileMunchinAdventures it is important, doesn’t take much to lose confidence on logs, some days I feel like a total gumby hitting them 🤪

It certainly helps, I was pretty bike fit but not riding for 3 weeks before didn’t help me.

Hey man, great video! I ride all the time at bonnie doon just on the other side of the bridge than this place. I've got the go pro hero 9 as well and I've got quite a few rides recorded, but I cant seem to find a good app to compile them all together. what did you use to make this video? thanks
I use Adobe Premier Pro, this only works on an Apple Mac. Thanks for watching. It’s a great place to ride.

Yes I should’ve, it was sitting in the trailer as a back-up.
Did you end up hitting the log at 16:50 on one of the later laps? :-)
No I didn’t the area under the log became easier to get through so I continued going the ‘plan B’ route. My last lap however was my quickest by far. I managed to get over every log without getting stuck once.

Too true, but there are different levels of Gumby. I’m the Gumby that’s holds some riders up and then there are Gumby’s holding me up. It all evens out, all part of racing. 😬
