When I saw this video I bought the radio. (Also the Ham Radio 2.0: Episode 89 - Unboxing the QYT KT7900D Quad-Band Mini-Mobile Radio). I also bought the RT programming software. But both radios seem to be "Larry Proof". I've been waiting for a savvy RUclips poster to put something out to help, but nothing. There's one guy that has a training video but it's hard to listen to and follow along with. (Perhaps alcohol related). Is there anything out there that will help. I think my main problem is my time is limited to learn stuff. Or maybe my brain is just too full.? I do rely on RUclips to help with the rough stuff, (ie: How to install a dishwasher... 9 minute lesson and I am an expert, Hey? ( Yes, I'm from Michigan)). But there is a serious lack of training helps for these radios. And maybe it is the software I'm having trouble with. I don't really need the radios but either one would be great in the mobile. For a hundred dollars more I could have bought a Yaesu. You're never sorry you paid for quality... Guess I learned a lesson - always the hard way. Hey? Ready to put it in a microwave oven soon.
Cannot set shift.
@@adambrady9989 See if the button is programmable in the software. It has been 3.5 years since I made this video and I don't have this radio any longer, so I can't recall everything about it.
Me ikd guy.
No computer.
Used to prgramming with factory switches.
Ham was better when we had tubes.
73 dude.
how do I send a PL tone to open a repeater?
thanks
Love your videos! Just wondering: is the color scheme customizeable (background/font colors)? How are the audio reports? Thanks :)
I don't think you can change the colors, no. Still testing on-air.
No color change option.
Hey Jason nice radio 👍
Hey, thanks
73 👍😉
ok so how do you program this unit? the software is a joke
Do u know now
? well
What's that handheld on the table?
I think you mean the RFinder. AndroidDMR.com
I have one of these but I have no earthly idea how to set it up to communicate with my riding buddy’s that have handhelds. Are there any groups that can help an ignorant newbie?
Guess not
I can help you buddy. I have this radio and I love it .
@@bryanhulsey5295 That would be awesome
With the radio off,, Hold down the LO button and the A/B button and power the radio on. When it powers up it will be unlocked to transmit on all frequencies.
Do you know the Frequencies or "channels" to communicate with your friends?
@@bryanhulsey5295 I am at the lake now but I will be back home this evening. I may have something wrong with mine because I am certain I tried that and no luck
No mounting bracket?
I think there is one in there...
If you can confirm I would really appreciate it :-)
When I saw this video I bought the radio. Hey? Love the effort you put into your program. 73 W2AAO
Thanks for watching.
I no longer have that radio, else I would do a video for it. Perhaps in the future I can try to do programming vids as a follow up to a new, unboxing vid too.
If I can get ahold of another one of these, I will see about getting another video posted for programming. I think they have a waterproof version now, which wasn't available when I made this first video.
@@HamRadio2 A programming video would really be nice!
Is there any way to get a copy of it's firmware? I'd love to improve on it!
Maybe, I can ask. Usually they have that for download on tyt888.com
