Thank you Gran! The piglets run to the sows and the sows run to the boars. Sometimes you see the sows randomly sprint towards the boars because of this mechanic.
@@TheOddApe Ahhh yes I saw that mechanic when I was getting my pigs across the lake, I gave the boars a little smack and they ran after me, and the sow ran after the boar. Nice to know there is one for the piglets too. 😁
The females following males works for the sheep as well. Geez ape this is great. I always wanted to separate the different gen animals but had no idea other than culling them.
This is a revisited design to separate the piglets by letting them fall through the floor! If you have some suggestions write it in the comments. I'll be glad to discuss it with you! Enjoy 😃
I LOVE you. Nothing less nothing more. Tutorial about a "hidden" game that is useful and concise? You got yourself a new subscriber. Congrats, this was amazing! Not sure if it happens because I have a mod that adds animals to the game but where I live there's no animals besides rabbits, crows and squirrels so I wanted to have something ready for when I get to breeding!
Sorry for the late answer. Thank you for take the time to comment. I really appreciate that :) The video wasn't really meant as a step by step tutorial so I think it's not very complete.
@TheOddApe tyvm for answering, I was successful replicate the farm, and I found that slabs work for chick, but the space between wall and the space could glitch, and they work if they are horizontal, In multiplayer they glitch a more often because the lag, also in creative chiseled blocks let adults fall
@@Tsukasa1929 thanks for the feedback! I noticed more glitches on MP as well. Right now I am using this farm mainly for pigs and chicken, because the ewes must produce milk, no matter what generation they're in 😅
Amazing design! Though I'll probably stick to standing on the fence, and therefore separating the fleeing piglets from the adults that try to attack me by placing fences behind the adults. However, I'll definitely make use of hoppers being able to fill troughs, which I didn't know/think of till about 4 minutes ago.
Thanks! I'm glad that you like the design. The hopper for feeding animals is pretty useful, especially when you have a number of animals to feed and you don't want to place and fill a dozen of throughs.
I just put a fence gate with a separate small area. I enter the pen and all the piglets flee to the door. With just a minor bit of herding, they all in, close door, ey presto, bobs yer uncle. Edit: Didn't know about the gen 10 thing. Meh, lots of time before that many generations.
Hello Klomster! In a single player world I usually do the same as you do. My solution is useful in situations where the piglets do not flee from the player: one is when the piglets reach level 10; the second scenario is when playing on servers and most of the time the piglets grow up before the player is even online. It happens all the time.
2 thoughts for upgrades for design. i use straight shute and box above it for more grain capacity and why you need separate sow room? Just add a strip of see through railing on the edge of breeding room. sows are there anyway. To make piglets go up to the door and not linger in drop room make drop a bit deeper so piglets are more far away from sows after drop.
Yes. I'll post a video with a fix for the pigs (sometimes adults fall through the floor 😞), for the sheep and for the chicken. The design in this video works fine with sheep so I think you could try it
Hi and welcome to Vintage Story. This farm is used to separate the piglets from the adults so one can easily butcher the older generation and keep breeding the new one. Higher generations have some benefits. There's an important update to this farm that fixes a flaw
@@TheOddApe Thanks for the explanation and for the video, it was perfectly understood, I'm going to put the farm into practice. really thank you very much
I'm really glad that you find it useful! Don't forget to check out the update Video where I explained how to chisel the floor so that only the piglets fall through. Let me know if it works for you :)
👀 That looks like a fab design Ape. I didnt know there was a game mechanic where the piglets try to get to the sow. Nice tutorial!
Thank you Gran!

This is a great design, much better than my method of separated sunken pits and me running around like a fool!
Well I did that for ages ahah 🤣
Thanks for stopping by!
I made one in my world! Gonna record it and send people to you to learn how to build it :)
Oh that makes me so proud! I hope that it works properly haha. Thank you so much!

I need to test that... I have just my first generation, and it's already painfull to sort that out...
My adult pigs fell through the floor.
I'm working on a fix and I'm testing it on a server. Thanks for letting me know.
Please pin a comment telling peopl to go to the new video!!!!!!

Thanks for the awesome Idea, after the stairs you skip the rest of building, but keep it on I love how was done

Love it.. never thought of trying to automate this.

One of the best vintage story videos I’ve seen period!!! New sub good work
Thanks!
Great Vid OddApe!!! Got any tips on Sheep and chickens now?
Not yet but I will 😀
Beautiful project my friend
Thank you Shino! 😃
Good idea. Thank you so much!!

Will you be posting a similar video on sheep?

my pigs can pass the separation system idk what to do to prevent that...
Hi. I fixed that in this update video ruclips.net/video/3ho43owx4hI/видео.htmlsi=2KOFR7tsHAmKvBDF
Why most of them are dead on the floor in the end of the video?
I think they're sleeping 😀
what is the utility of this farm? im new in the game
