  • The General Industries Union of South Africa (GIWUSA) says it is disheartened by the findings of the Pietermaritzburg Justice and Dignity Group regarding the impact the high cost of living has had on the working class and poor people during the month of March 2024. According to the latest FinScope Consumers South Africa 2023 Survey, 40% of consumers are using credit for household necessities. While two out of five individuals have gone without electricity in the past 12 months due to the lack of affordability.
Now let us discuss this with Mametlwe Sebei of General Industries Union of South Africa.

Let's all go and vote for our party of choice ,maybe something will change 😂.
The power of united citizens has been reduced to a meaningless vote 🗳. But if we all as citizens came together with common demands real Immediate changes would be achieved .

I just walked past feathermarket in CBD of port elizabeth, and if you could see the amount of people standing outside to apply for government temporary jobs is just insane, absolutely insane, very worrying where this country is headed, in all aspects...And throwing some small jobs for unemployed just to get votes, shameful

And everything but everything is going up by 10 and 20% on a monthly basis. For example. My chronic medication went up by 30% in one month. And continue on a monthly basis. Groceries, petrol Healthcare, and the list just go on, not even mentioning internet would you pay a full premium but only get a Quarter off the service. Electricity went up........ but load shedding and service just went down down down. Everybody is talking about it complaining about it but just absolutely nothing gets done.
