Most barrels are charred in general leaving a heavy black char on the inside of the barrel. Toasting is much more like roasting a marshmallow it gets it toasty but doesn’t char the wood if you will. Both options release different flavors into whiskey.
Haha the peerless double oaks rye and bourbon while not cheap sure are one of my favorites. Yeah this JD twice barreled options are all good can’t go wrong with any of them
I love the heritage LE. I thought the twice barreled was a little overcooked. It tastes like an even more stewed sbbp. The 375ml makes it financially completely approachable but I hope they keep experimenting.
Another channel did a 10-bottle blind to come up with their "Best Whiskey Of 2023" and last year's Jack Twice Barreled LE did surprisingly well: Came in *#2* , beating out the 2023 GTS and Jack 12 (the both of them tied at #3) and getting beat by Russell's 13 at #1.

what is the difference between charring and toasting?

thank you, oh most wise man.
keep up the good, entertaining work.
50/50 sag double oak and jdbp rye
Oh man that’s heaven right there I’ve done that. Too bad I just kicked my double oak bottle
Nice review BB. I have been trying more ryes lately. 🥃
I think I definitely bought more rye in 2024 than bourbon there have been more cool rye releases
You got me to entertain the peerless double oaked. I’m hooked. Thanks for broadening my horizons. Gotta see if I can find a double oaked rye now!

JD is killing it with great pricing too
They absolutely are
Jack Daniel’s is doing some killer ryes these days. Great review and glad you liked them
Thanks for sending them and yes loved them
Good review. Honestly, I got a little confused with so many different variations. I'll have to watch this episode twice!
Yeah they have at least 4 twice barreled variations all the difference is in the 2nd barrel and what happens to it whether it’s charred or toasted etc

Yeah I’m excited for what they come up with.

Yeah the 2023 LE did well for me for in my rye of the year I really enjoyed it
Great reviews. The 2023 is such a delicious pour. One of my all time favorite rye. Is the 2024 still available at the distillery?
It really is a great pour. I don’t know unfortunately you can probably call and ask them they will probably tell you
I got this one back in August at the distillery and wish I had gotten many more than just one.
Haha yeah it’s delicious love it. I hope they do some age stated ryes or longer aged version of this as an LE in the future
I’m waiting for a review of the new Coy Hill
Yeah I want that bad lol
@@bourbonbill I found one, but it cost me $150. I think it’s good enough for a backup even at that price.
@@jamesstreet1144if you find another for that price let me know I’ll buy one off you
I wouldn't rule out a JD 10 year or 12 year rye either
Yeah that’s true I hope they do that as well that would be awesome
