    This cutting technique is one that I normally use on custom pieces - like car portraits and stuff. It works really well as long as you use a NEW blade.

      Jeff , looks really great. Nice and clean.
      I’ve had really great success with “GLAD - Press -n- Seal”
      No glue residue and much, MUCH less pressure needed to cut it.
      I highly recommend the stuff.

      Have you ever tried lightest to darkest?
      Do you do or practice airbrush exercises?
      An are you purposely going slow for the video?

    I did some shirt paintings long time ago in the early 90's but the trick with the clothespin was totally new to me. Never saw this before. Very cool. thanks. Btw, never had the patience to do such lettering correctly ;) good stuff.

      strange that you haven't seen that technique before, I learned it in '84, the splatter design was used a lot by Terry Hill, also done it to get asphalt look on car portraits. try it some time.

    Sick. Eddie Davis told me to slightly break off tip of the blade before cutting so as not to score into the shirt...very nice technique, Jeff!

    Nice work. I was a little skeptical at first cause I've seen so many airbrush people that think they're the shit, but have crappy line work, and when I saw your blowout on the top of the O in the first 30seconds I was like here we go again. But your paint reduction was spot on, the line work was good, not too many double passes, and yeah I always use a fresh blade (buy them by the 100) for frisketing techniques. So bravo from a airbrush instructor who's been doing this awhile in the fine art realm.

      Thanks. I struggle a bit with the video camera being in the way - I'm always spraying at an extreme angle. Otherwise I'm just painting slow so (hopefully) everyone can follow what I'm doing.

    • @GermanPinstriper
      @GermanPinstriper 6 лет назад +1

      Hey,, did you ever try to 'sharpen' the dull blade with a 1000 grit sand paper? i use it all the times for cutting flames out of regular masking tape (Golden, 3M, ...). pulling three times away from the blade and it is fresh again to go for one gas tank....should work for shirts as well. Just sharp enough to not destroy the underlying clearcoat/paint layer. This trick saved me shit loads of money over the years. no need for 'sterile blades' ;)

    • @Crewchief227
      @Crewchief227 6 лет назад +1

      Michael Endres actually sometimes I'll strap a blade on newspaper if it's dull. Otherwise if I am being frugal I'll just snap off a 1/8" off the tip, and voila a newish blade.

    • @GermanPinstriper
      @GermanPinstriper 6 лет назад +1

      Crewchief 227 i did not know that newspaper does the trick as well. I have the same sheet of sanding paper for years. Breaking the blade does not work for me. I broke it by accident and then ended up with a ridge....but thanks for the tip. I will try it when i am in desperate need of a sharp blade ;)

    what type of pencil do u use to draw on the shirts. it's so clean. I've used a regular pencil and it seems like when I airbrush on top u can still see the pencil line. thanks for your amazing airbrush videos.

    Jeff, how did you transfer the image before you started to airbrush on the shirt?

    • @JeffCopeland1560
      @JeffCopeland1560  6 лет назад +3

      RAY DOG
      First I sketch it on a piece of paper. Next slide it under the front of the shirt - then I simply trace it (on the shirt) with a soft graphite pencil.
