Man, I love your lessons. I've been playing for 20 years, your teaching is the best I've found so far. Thank you for sharing your gifts and art with us!
I'm a new subscriber and what I love most about your tutorials is that you do make little mistakes but that's what most learners need to see to understand that we are not perfect and seeing errors gives us something to improve upon. Too many youtube music channels edit their tutorials to make them perfect and I find puts off learners.
Thanks for the kind words! I absolutely agree. People need to see/hear the imperfections of the shed and that's how one improves. I just want to keep it real and I want folks to see me for what I am and what I bring to the educational aspect. There's no point in NAILING it from a teachers POV, in my honest opinion at least. Once again, thanks for your comment! I'm glad the channel is reaching out to more peeps like you!
Thanks for the lesson, yesterday i was making a solo for the autumn leaves and you exercises with pratice and patience are making me have some good ideias and frases, thank you so much
I'm still not that good as soloing, but you inspire to stick with it and stick with my 4string and not follow the trend of buying a bunch 6,7,8 string basses and i don't use any of them. I keep simple and comfortable for me! Thank you bro!!!
"Road Not Taken" on my short list right now by the way. I have friends attempting to learn bass guitar. I'm definitely steering them your way. Again, Thank you for your insight and time.
Wonderful. You just made that thing accessible for me. Way more accessible than watching Janek doing it and thinking it's so far away. So, thank you very much. Masterclass...
@richmondpp - I was looking at this vid and saying the exact same thing. I could listen to him play all day. When he plays I feel like I have no problems to deal with. Thank you Anthony!
I'm just now coming across u and your channel. Instantly subscribed....i probably have watched this video like 20 times since 3:00 am😂! This is HEAT🔥🔥🔥
You're a real inspiration! Listening to you makes me feel like I'm in a Godard film, sitting idly by outside a French café. I'd like some advice if you'd be so kind. I've played the bass for many years but always felt safe in just looking at tab sheets and doing covers. Lately I realized I've limited myself for too long and started to play some "originals"-just by feel-but I often get frustrated because I'm not hitting the right notes to create beautiful chords and melodies like you do. I'm quite adept at simply playing the 5th and such once given a root note to begin at, but I find progression very difficult. Should I just suck it up and study the chords and music theory? I guess I answered my own question but I can't shake the hesitation and burden I feel in front of this mountainous challenge. Where shall I begin? Are there resources you particularly utilized in your 'early' days? Thanks!
Excellent lesson. Thank you so much. I think that I just may get the hang of this. The 32th notes kind of lost me there though. I long for that "auto pilot."
it helps, but to exercise it we'll need the chord right, where i could get the right chord progression for that? or i just make some chord that aren't diatonic?
Soebroto Harry You can use any sequence of any song or whatever you find sounding fine. The only thing you have to keep in mind the current chord. And yes, when it goes beyond of diatonic, the exercise becomes more difficult. Practice-wise it is more useful to work on some progressions with side dominants or borrowed chords. But the purpose is control of what chord and scale are being used at the moment. In my opinion however, soloing in lower register (which bass is intended for) requires more focus on the chord notes played on downbeats rather than playing random scale notes. Great approach anyway.
I really love all your vids and content Anthony, but could you talk more about the rhythmic side of phrasing instead of such an emphasis on harmony??..or maybe do a part two to this harmony vid??
Thanks Paul! To be honest with you, there's barely any proper harmony/melody based lessons for bass guitar, let alone bass solos. Hence, my primary focus is on that. If i am not mistaken, I have done rhythmic phrasing lessons in the past. Please look at the rest of the channel and dig it out! Cheers!
This is what I call morning Coffee Jazz. It's so pleasing to the ears.
Man, I love your lessons. I've been playing for 20 years, your teaching is the best I've found so far. Thank you for sharing your gifts and art with us!
Thank you so much Eric! Much appreciated :)
Could listen to those first 80 seconds all day long

you sir, are my bass saviour!!
Beautiful..intro ..never stop..⭐😎⭐
Great, great tip. Been looking for a straight answer like this about using scales over cords and how to connect them.
Thanks for the lesson, yesterday i was making a solo for the autumn leaves and you exercises with pratice and patience are making me have some good ideias and frases, thank you so much
I love how you mess up and don’t edit it out it’s more inspiring knowing someone of your caliber still screws up

Hello Anthony,
Love your sound.
How ru getting your tone:
Guitar and amp eq, strings, amp, effects.
Thank you for your time.
He is just playing on the bridge pick up using flatwound strings and, probably, having the tone knob half way down.
Sick bass solo! 🎸👍👏
Is your bass tune to ADGC?
Thank you and no, it’s standard tuning!
awsome!!!
Hi there, by any chance would you be able to provide transcription for these excerpts, ?
i need that loop
Would it be better to solo with a 5 string bass or 4.
What would be your recommendation..
Thanks man, before watching this video, I didn't know bass solos or bassists existed. This has been a truly eye opening experience for me.
Love your videos, Anthony!!!! Can you please tell me, What type of wood is the fretboard?? Looks very dark.
Thank you! It's Ebony.
Awesome!!!! Love it, Thank You!!!!
Congradulations i will get my copy.🙏
Man I´d love to be able to play quarter notes that feel half as good as these ones.
it helps, but to exercise it we'll need the chord right, where i could get the right chord progression for that? or i just make some chord that aren't diatonic?
