Love that jumping the forklift had it's own reoccurring musical theme
Laura's forklift is becoming such a character in these videos, I think it needs its own name (and a new battery).
And/or maybe an external Anderson style connector for the battery for easy jump starting...
@@adamhaycroft5610 how would you jumpstart an electric forklift, surely the Anderson connector would be connected to the battery, so as soon as you unplug it, it turns the truck off.
@@adamhaycroft5610 scrap that, I just noticed it’s a gas forklift 😂
and maybe new generator. I think the battery is ok, just not charging up for the forklift ops.
How about “Gabel” for a name?
Probably a good idea to make a base for the new shed. At least weatherproof the rails at the bottom with a metal paint and raise it onto slabs or blocks.
I was surprised that they didn’t move the top back the the end of the paved area and placed pallets underneath to get metal up off the ground. With a pallet floor allowing air circulation Laura can resume using the metal shed to store wood and other outside materials. Then too, the trailer could be moved closer to the building door for its own build.
yes .. maybe some footing blocks, precast pavers, as the 'foundation'
.. and reinforce the structure. maybe some angle iron? the bottom edge on one side was drooping drastically during the lift
Use Hammerite or Brunox 4 in 1 for protection.
They can still do this :)
What an awesome video Laura - I was yelling Geil ! by the end with you guys. My friend comes in and asks what does Geil mean and I said ‘ have no idea but it means something good is happening !’ I googled it after and it means ‘awesome ‘ or ‘cool’ in German slang . Looking forward to seeing the tiny house take shape. Greetings from Canada
Geil!!
I was going to google geil myself. Lol. Thank you for letting us know. Hello from Townsville in Nth Queensland Australia 🇦🇺 ❤️ 😀 😊
Just don't look up what it means in Dutch... XD It always confuses me at first when I'm working with a German counterpart at my job.
Good thing you went with the slang definition :D
@@laurakampf MEGA GEIL!!!
There is something so sweet and wholesome about Laura giving every member of the team a Leatherman. Can't wait to see how the little Haus shapes up!
I just love how you laugh at every fail; that shows character. And of course you don't give up. I'm going to enjoy watching this build soooooo much.
I love that, "Harvey, my scrap metal dealer," is a real and factual statement in your life.
That forced perspective shot at the end with the model on top of the platform was brilliant!
I love you Laura, "Sometimes everything just goes right." (Reviews the tape: forklift needed 15 jumpstarts) Really excited to follow the new mini house project!
Hahaha
After all the problems with the house, I was so relieved to see something go smoothly for a change 😆 can't wait to see the progress on this over the next couple of months!
Agree!
Months? Weeks!! got to beat Harry ;)
I can see you've never blown up a car battery before :). When you hook up jumper cables you want to hook up both positives to the batteries, one negative to a battery and then hook up the other negative last to someplace on the engine of the last hookup that will give a good ground. This is so the spark is someplace away from the battery, so it doesn't ignite the hydrogen gas that can be produced in the battery. Believe me, blowing one up is pretty dramatic. Luckily when it happened to me it started a small fire first, so I was able to get back before it blew the top of the battery off and sprayed acid all over the place. Also, I would recommend getting a set of jumper cables with heavier wire, they tend to work better. We've been following the house and tiny house and are looking forward to seeing how things come out. Take care.
Good point! I would also recommend to ALWAYS double check the polarity when connecting two batteries in parallel. I believe, that everyone including Laura knows what could (and probably would) happen, but for those who don't - if + was connected to - and vice versa, you basically create a circuit where one of the wires connects both batteries in series and the second wire SHORTS this circuit. Which can literally WELD the connectors to the terminals and you may not be able to disconnect the whole circuit, which can destroy both of the batteries. And it does not matter that one of them is discharged. So please, be extra careful. Apart from that, great video, as everything that Laura does 🙂
This. And give some stable revs on the car you're charging the dead battery with and leave it for a few minutes. Literally just had a dead battery issue due to too few kms of driving cause I work remote :( Had to replace it, was too far gone.
This is an awesome project. I feel very much reminded of the old German kids TV series "Löwenzahn" with Peter Lustig. He also converted an old wagon like this into a tiny house 👍 This makes me feel so nostalgic
That's funny because Laura actually produces videos for "Die Maus", another German kids TV show🤔
I actually commented on the last video that she needs to paint this blue and start wearing overalls 😀 And of course build stairs to the roof from old chairs.
German shows sounds superior to USA media
Full House: Laura, Felix, the projects combined with excellent videography and editing.
We're always with them, laughing and cheering when things go well, and crying when not, and always, always hoping for all the best.
I love this channel and the amazing supporters!!
"a new set of problems I did not see coming" feels like the theme for 2022
I strongly reccomend changing the tires, they seem old and may burst when you put a lot of weight on them
We have a lot of old trailers like this on our farm and their tires are in way worse condition. I wouldn't change them, they are fine.
The finished house will not be that heavy, won't move that much and when it moves it won't be going fast.
I think you are judging the condition based on car tires. This tires will reach 30km/h max speed with pretty much nothing of weight only once for 15m and stay still in the same place for the next 5 years maybe.
@@DanielConstantinoS Exactly. I would even call it wasteful to replace these tires. They have decades of life still left in them.
Perhaps fill the fridge AFTER doing motorway speeds.
I love the way you are pivoting with this project from the challenge of not having a place to live in the Spring to recycling another trailer into a tiny house. BRILLIANT!!!
That poor forklift. I'm really excited for this project Laura. It will be creative and awesome, just like you.
My contentment level always goes up when Laura is happy 😊💕
Amazing ! I do think you could put a floor of pallets or something similar under the shed (especially now that you know you can lift it off :p), the threat of humidiy coming from the ground and these flimsy walls would make me crazy
FINALLY! Something actually goes according to plan! Congratulations on saving your wood storage shed, AND a great start to building your cozy new interim home while you're working to finish restoring your main house.
Just been rewatching some of your old vlogs, its so awesome to see how far you've come in the last few years. From how much more relaxed in front of the camera you are, to how much more polished your videos seem, to how much your sponsorships have changed and increased. Massive congratulations on building the best channel on RUclips. I can't wait to see what the future holds for you. Prost! (I miss album of the week though. Your recommendation of Band of Skulls Baby Darling Doll Face Honey has been on repeat for a good few days now)
I love watching Laura kampf videos that don't end in more problems, sometimes you just need a solid win! I'm loving this series so far!
If this video could be summed up in one word, it would be "GEIL!" Nice forklift wrangling. Time to build up now. Thanks for sharing!
Wow Laura! You achieved so much in the past week. Amazing! Please be careful of your knee.
Flawless execution! You guys deserve a win! -And a new charger and relay for the Komatsu! Merry Xmas! Oh, and if you put the "shell" up on blocks, it will work as a drying/seasoning shed, turning "green" wood into furniture wood.
Flawless execution.. Standing under lifted and poorly supported structure/load. Like the shed is not a big deal if it brakes in half. But people standing inside of it when it brakes apart and fall down. There are people that has lost fingers from small paper cuts. Going into shock and emergency room for paper cuts in a office. Can not explain why someone go into shock after a paper cut like bitten by a snake. It might have been something else just covered up. But I know people have lost fingers to paper cuts. Do not play with danger. Even if your making a video for the internet it is not ok.
@@TheDiner50 I admit I shared that worry when I saw the video, so "flawless" should be amended to "Accident-free" :) BUT! They were inside the shed, not under it! We could of course agree to sit in our basements with the lights turned off until we die of old age... There IS such a thing as "Too cautious" :)
Haha It's so great and infectious how much fun you guys have with everything!
I've learnt a new German word - GEIL! 😀👍
Laura you are a solution manager ! love your laugh!
In no way did I think this plan would work.......and I laughed along with you when it did! Awesome! Nice camera work too.....looking forward to the build.
The Leatherman Onboarding ritual was wholesome. Epic team to be a part of!
I’d love an account of all the portable/tiny structures you have done over the years. Like an inventory video of clips of each build and ‘where they are now’… because I feel like you have at least five trailers to live in, LOL
Great job! Now you just need to find a company that make fork lift batteries to sponsor the next video.
I laughed throughout the entire video. You all are obviously working hard, but having a great deal of fun. Thanks for cheering me up on a grey and gloomy day, I can't wait to see what's next!
I'd just like to express my appreciation for the first-class wordplay in naming this project LiseLittle 👌👍😁
This „we‘ll see in the next video guys“ genuinely shocked me for a second 😂
I love that the tiny forklift gets its own musical theme each time you have to jump it. :D
So nice to see the beginning of a house build that doesn't involve rot/etc... 🙂
kind of a weird comment, but I've been watching a lot of videos (projects like this or not) from American channels, and I think that was why I was so excited to see the beat up blue little car from your team member! I instantly felt right at home lol. Finally, a car that's familiar to me! (I live in northern France)
Nice evolution story: Switch the camper to the forklift. Using the forklift for an new tiny house. Growth at its best. :)
Schön dich wieder bei der Maus zu sehen 😂👍🏻😋😍
Fabulous! (I had to go translate "geil") I laughed so much with you. Brilliant job! Fantastic videography, Felix.
Thank you for the translation! i was wondering what that meant.
Laura saying "wood storage space" = me saying "Eichhörnchen" 😆
@@SonjaBruenzels ... either.
I want someone to be as excited about my projects as Felix is! GEEIIEEL!
Such a cool chassis to build on, and all that lovely old timber to re-use. Best part? No ants!
Laura has all the best toys to play with, totally agree that the good ole angle grinder and a dremel are by far the best tools 🤣
Gaaaayllll: expression of utmost joy by LK. Diese ansteckenden Freudenschreie, eine Wohltat!
I enjoy your creativity. I have been watching you on This Old House Makers Channel. I found you on you tube today. I enjoy your sense of humor and imagination. The shows i watched today on RUclips you have Felix with you. I love your interaction between you guys. I get a kick out of the mix of English and German speaking. It is much like listening to the Mexican immigrants here in southern Oklahoma. Half English and half native language. Keep up good work. I enjoy watching.
It was not lost me, the fact that a timber from Haus Liselotte held up the wood shed and helped you get started on Haus Liselittle. Very "full circle".
I don't know anyone else who could have "pulled that off" both figuratively and literally. I'm looking forward to watching you build your tiny home on wheels.
That's great you got the top off the trailer in one piece. Looking forward to next weeks forklift repair video.
You guys are having so much fun and this was hilarious to watch, thanks for the laughs and so happy it all went well . Sweet, giving your newest team member his own multi tool 🙌
The "welcome to the team" moment is so WHOLESOME
There’s a lot to say about the usefulness of those old Renault Twingo…. Isn’t ?
I can fit my adult Irish Wolfhound in it, and she travels quite confortably…
They knew how to build things then, to last. Never thought thought that would work!
Laura!! Neeever stand under the forks of a forklift! Especially one that is super old carrying a tiny house..
You are one of my favorite human beings....your creativity and your light heart are so genuine
laura take a volt/ohm meter and put it on DC volts check to see if the alternator is charging your forklifts battery when running it should be putting near 13-14v DC into the battery if it is then the battery is likely dead needing replacement if its not then you need to have the alternator checked to see if its working or the charging circuit is functioning
The leatherman moment was great!! Badass vid as usual 😎
Gifting a Leatherman, very classy!
Your English is OUTSTANDING.
I like the new guy, he is very smart, handsome and hardworking. Great addition to the team.
Interesting project 👏🏻👍🏻
But I would not use bent roof timber because it‘s only lots of work with no function. A flat roof tilted to one side will also do the job of getting rid of water.
Looking forward to the next videos 🤗
Not going to lie, you got me with the "we'll see in the next video guys." Freaking hilarious and I am loving this series! Geil!
When lifting the forks of the forklift, you should use the gas pedal to rev up and give the pump more pressure to work with. And also the engine will not stall.
Of course a Twingo "AMG" !! the best immortal car in the world ! welcome to the new member :)
Best car ever: demolierter alter Twingo
War auch mein erstes Auto :)
@@laurakampf sehr gute Wahl!
Top notch episode. Loved the editing and overall mood.❤🎉😂
“GEIL”… is the German “cool” 😂
I have an old forklift that I rarely use as well. When I need it I really need it though. A mechanic friend recommended adding a universal battery disconnect. Sounds fancy, but it's a little knob that goes on the negative battery terminal and disconnects it so the battery doesn't run down over time... May help
Nice to see the team is still growing!!! As always amazing video!!! At the end you should have clipped together all the times you had to jumpstart the fork lift 😂😂😂
"Will it collapse, we will see you in the next video" I was just about to start shouting NOOOOOO!!! at the screen LOL
Yeah, I believed it too and then it made me happy
The battery on that Forklift has excellent comedic timing. XD
Geil!!!!!!!
Haha! Harry genau so entspannt wie ich 😊. Lang leben die Rückwärtsterminierer ✌️😇.
👏Bravo!
You did it!!
So glad that something went to plan, for you! Can't WAIT to see it finished!!
saving the shed was an amazing stroke of luck ! make a nice concrete base for it, and u can store all your goodies :D
o boy, maybe such a starter battery or help is a good "Weihnachtsgeschenk" Ja Harry ich gucke dir an ;)
I absolutely love when you put out a series on longer projects. Keep up the great work!
I started yelling noooo, when you said we will see if this work on the next video. Thanks for the laughter.
Finally something going to plan. Lise Little is going to be great
Yes!
Awww, you deserve to be happy!
Congratulations!
Easily my favourite video so far!
Learned new German slang today.
GEIL!!!
cant wait to see your tiny house finished
Best car ever 🤣🤣🤣
Oder auch: geile Karre. Für den Einsatzzweck perfekt.
Confused Laura is my new favorite Laura 😄 "Hèèè??!"
Twingo AMG was sonst 🤣 Love how you celecrate every single little success!
just one word:
GEIL!!!!!!!!!!
You rock! So glad to see the trailer is heavy duty and in great shape.
Gotta love an AMG. Everytime I see one I'm like "AH MAH GAWD!"
I've loved the channel for a long time but I have to say it has gotten even better with Felix around!
Wow, looking forward to this!
Sehr cooles neues „Zwischenprojekt“. Bin schon gespannt was Ihr daraus macht 🎉
Finally something goes well.I guess it figured it was younger than the city house so it better behave ? Congratulations!!;
Schöne Ferien 🎄🐾🐾
Sicher sein
Iss gut 🦾
That went so much smoother than I expected, excellent job!
Same haha
That was exciting and nail biting to watch. Fantastic video and editing. Thanks for sharing all the enthusiasm , problem solving and welcome to the team new guy.
Handwerken ist so gar nicht mein Ding. Aber ich liebe eure Videos und vor allem die Freude und das Lachen. Es macht so Spaß zuzusehen!!!!! Danke
The fun you had with the forklift felt awfully familiar. I know someone who owns a 1989 Toyota forklift and it's been driving us crazy! For a while it had a knackered battery, which meant I got very quick at removing the seat to get to the battery and jumpstart it. They already had a massive 12 V battery with jump leads on a small cart so we always kept that close. Then the forklift also developed carburettor issues to make things even more fun, very hard to start and would sometimes randomly die. That was last year and this year to top it off we also had overheating issues. Nothing better than having a forklift die in the middle of the shed 10 minutes before an exhibition opens and you need to move stuff out of the way urgently.
Looks like that all worked out so good for you. That whole dome part could have crashed and burned on you BUT IT DIDN'T! The lumber Gods are smiling upon you!
I think your next project should be a forklift restoration! ;)
Word of the day is GEIL
absolutely love this!! i can only dream of having all that space, tools, and expertise!
