This game is amazing, the section under the rig alone is horrific, it’s the closest to capturing lovecraft correctly I’ve seen in a game
Which Lovecraft they adapt ?
@@CORTEXCOMBAT It is not an adaptation but it borrows heavily from Color out of Space.
The game is so freaking good that, under the right producers and directors, could easily be taken into the big screen...
@@krashd And from Carrion a wee bit, I reckon.
Rennick's transformation is funny... I couldnt stop peeking back as he chases you, just a massive head hurling abuse at you while trying to kill you 😂😂😂
"Come here you ned prick!" 😂
His head was almost as big as his ego by the end
@@LeFisheboithat’s physically impossible no matter how much cosmic horror transformation he goes through
This is crazy, these people made wobble dogs, but they also made this, the difference is insane
Hey, we're the publishers of Wobbledogs and Still Wakes the Deep! The developers of SWtD are the lovely 'The Chinese Room' and Wobbledogs was created by our friends over at 'Animal Uprising' :)
😂😂😂 that’s such polar opposites that’s actually hilarious
@@SecretMode I played the game when I saw it on game pass, and wow, this has got to be one of my favorite games ever! 10/10
@@SecretModethis game was amazing! I loved it! Y’all did an amazing job! Hope y’all make more games like this
One of the best horror games for years!
Before you meet Miur as a monster. Just heavy thick fog in an open area you once saw so clear of and the cries, moans, whaling- it’s fucking creepy. Amazing game!
Those noises still haunt me to this day.
This game is on another level! A+ to sound, art direction and level design
Thank you so much! The team over at The Chinese Room killed it, right!?
Don’t forget fear of hugmungus things
Megalophobia
and drowning
And thalassophobia
@@natoskull2 thats one the vid listed
@@azraelsoulreaper1013 You're right, I'm blind and hadn't seen that 🤣
This game is amazing. The plot and setting of oil rig is totally new for horror game players.
I'm not Scottish, I live in south England, but nice to see something set so close to home and getting a really good worldwide reception for it.. For me it adds to the realism as the accents etc wouldn't be out of place for me to hear, I even understand the slang... 28 Days Later is the only other thing that has grabbed my attention like this as it was set in the UK too and painted a really good 'what if' picture in my mind
Being chased is the only one that’s actually scary. But this whole game will definitely make me scream.
Fear of flesh.
Can’t really complain about the dark when you have a head lamp
The headlamp didn't do much in some stages
I haven't come across it yet but does having the headlamp on make any difference to them seeing you?? I tried it with Trots but didn't seem to make a difference 😕
@@dontfunkwiththajazzybeatzI don't think it does but I still stumbled in the dark around them cuz I was so scared 😂
One of the best horror games I’ve ever played
Thank you so muchhhhh!
@@SecretModeme and my brother played it and it blew us away and broke our hearts poor Roy
Reminds me of soma
Absolutely amazing visuals, and the voice acting has got to be better than anything I have ever seen. In my opinion this is the best game that has ever been released, amazing job:)
A few ones missing: Drowning, gigantic beings and structures, thalassophobia, monsters, complete isolation.
The player's original person died when he fell from a height, perhaps the player entered another world or a supernatural realm
The Buried
The Vast
The Hunt
The Dark
And also The Flesh in some form (being assimilated as a biomass).
And a bit of the Stranger (monsters still have faces and crying as humans will do, but no longer humans).
I really love how accurate TMA classification of Fears
This truly is a masterful piece of art. It’s so balanced, too. Like, it’s mostly a movie, but the gaming elements don’t distract from the story. I played the OG Resident Evil as a kid, and this feels similar in terms of the cultural impact.
Body horror too
How many phobias: yes
In a way, this game feels like a mixture of What Remains of Edith Finch and Little Nightmares.
Wish there was more backstory to the game about the area that they where in
I played the normal and beat it in 2 days. But there is the "story mode." Which is less dangerous, more involved.
Have you tried both?
I just finished the game. Bloody amazing
I cried during the final part of the game holy shit.
Amazing game!
Take my money TAKE IT
TOMORROW!! 👀
I like to walk around looking at the details of the structure.
You forgot big objects in water, the oil rig is pretty much that and if not that then the creature that attacks the rig
"Yes"
Indeed!
Imagine this game was in vr
Fear of drowning
Great love every second tho I have a fear of heights and falling into water where things of unknown origin are truly the best game I’ve ever played tbh
I bet you were terrified! Be honest, how many breaks did you take? 😂
@@SecretMode at first I was doing alright no breaks til I made it to climb up the helicopter I fell and restarted check point then I took a little while to get through the pontoons too much oil slicked water tbh terrified me all in all I took around 9 breaks gotta say for the first horror game I’ve ever played it was awesome loved the feeling of constant being on edge thinking something may get me in the water to thinking of falling in the water off the rig great visuals too definitely recommend
This game is so amazing i cried at the end of it
I never said all hell nahhh to a game before this
This game broke my heart
Best it in 4 hours but damn was it a memorable experience. 10/10 horror game
Awesome game, the monsters were horrorifying, especially muir.
So I’m afraid of all 5.. great 😭
Alien creatures/death/betrayal
Gotta make it VR
They shoulda called this mf NOPE. 😂😂😂😂
Or the "Haha no simulator." 😂
Body dysmorphia too
Hemophobia too! 😭
Dude this game is great
I love this game it was so good. I hope they make another one.😆
Can you add Arachibutyrophobia?
[WARNING, THIS HEARTFELT REVIEW CAN AND WILL CONTAIN SPOILERS, IF YOU DARE READ THIS COMMENT BEFORE WATCHING THE ENTIRE VIDEO/MOVIE, THEN SHAME ON YOU!]
Hello everybody, I am THE Darth Vader…I came to say…this is the most amazing horror game I have ever seen or experienced alongside another RUclipsr. Just to say, The Librarian is immediately one of the greatest game commentary RUclipsrs there is: exploring the rig, not talking over cutscenes, not taking it out of the moment and talking about what is actually happening. His tidbits were as well very nice, his voice is very relaxing to listen as well as very relatable. This is my first video and I love him already. I honestly believe this game should get an award or even game of the year. I know but much but this game is a true masterpiece. This game’s strengths were its tense moments, parkour strangely, and the change in the environment. Because one of the points he made in the video was that, what makes this game different are the characters that you quickly get attached to. Another point he makes is how the monster never really shows itself, only the effects it causes and its giant body morphing around the oil rig. It is the overarching antagonist of the game, with maaanny implications as to how this entity works. As it could really be a hive mind that manipulates the bodies of its inhabitants or a mindless creature that only desires to spread. The monsters along the ship such as, Renneck, Adair, and Gibbs I believe to be a more exaggerated version of themselves. They seemingly can still talk and interact with people like Caz. We do not know how this infection works to an extent and how much of themselves are in there but this is what makes eldritch horror FUN. It is about the speculations and how the true horror is how the creators leave it to our sadistic imaginations. In every encounter, whether the rig floods, a monster, or even hoping the safety of other characters, the tense could be felt. Like The Librarian said in the video, every break builds anxiety for the next segment. And he even mentions how we may be the protagonist, every other character is also a protagonist in their own in story. They do their own stuff while we do ours. To me, Still Wakes The Deep is one of the greatest games of 2024 alongside Helldivers 2. Thank you and thank you The Librarian for being a great RUclipsr.
Just finished it. Great game
Thank youu! Glad you enjoyed it!
Spiders are missing. Or are they...?
They're missing
@@dicasdeengenharia28 Or you just don't see them...
@@unclechaelsneckvein
No no, let's keep it as missing
The giant tendril monsters u need to avoid look like spiders, so i guess it counts?
@@onetwopikachu8122
Maybe? Doesn’t trigger my phobia, so I’m all good with that.
How long did this actually take?
This looks so cool I’m buying 💯
Fear of isolation as well
My worst nightmare! 😱
The game looked amazing sadly i didnt buy it cuz i saw whole gameplay but Damn i wish it could be far longer the game was perfect
Also drowning
10/10 games just beat it
Goated game
Also arachnophobia
I hate ocean😰
Dark is just annoying in games not terrifying tbh..
😮
😮
This is actually astonishing visually but it is not scary for the last 2/3 part of the game and there is a terrible lack of narrative development 😓
Just finished this yesterday, I usually don’t like basic plots but it honestly made it feel way more realistic and it did a really good job at making me hope that mcleery survives, and i absolutely loved the atmosphere, honestly the only thing I disliked and even then it wasn’t a big dislike but I felt like the enemies could’ve been scarier. Tho I do like how trots and rennick looked. Kinda sad i finished it I was really enjoying it
Oh and the characters were awesome especially mcleery. Love how he just flips off Brodie instead of waving lol, very relatable scene 😂
