Education is a business in India. Private schools, tuitions, coaching etc etc.. cost of these services is also a factor why many children from poor families are deprived of basic education.
Recently WhiteHatJr an Indian EdTech company was exposed. They push their products to parents and kids by cold calling and misleading ads with fake information. They claimed one of their students joined google for a salary of 150cr rupees at 13 years of age. They also advertised another kid joining Facebook for similar salary. I feel sorry for the parents who purchased these courses. Also these courses have an absurd price tag.
Very interesting. Today, I learned that there are places in the world where the education is free. Many years ago, I met students from Finland, some probably were on a school break visiting Canada. They are very fortunate to have free schooling and so much help. I didn't realize the stress placed on students from India to achieve. That must very difficult on a child to have to deal with getting higher grades to be valued. Where I live in Canada school is free till the end of high school. Over thirty years ago, all our education was free, and as a student at that time, I met many students who studied as a living. The government was paying for everything so they just kept going to school. One such student had been in college for nine years with no plans of quitting. I guess with time our government noticed this and had to change things. Today, to go to college or university costs very little and the government helps students with the different costs attached to their studies. At the end of their education, they are left with a small student loan to pay off over many years at a low interest rate. I find myself fortunate to live in Canada because there are other countries where it costs so much to go to school. Thank you for another informative video. See you next time.

We used to have the same problem in Finland, people keeping studying and also the remedy was the same: cutting down how many years you can study! What a great video! May I add, what a stark contrast there is between India and Finland. I'm very fortunate to live in a country where our entire education system is more like Finland's than Indias.....although, geographically, we are much closer to India. I have found that we get a lot of University students from India. Mostly they study Medicine and Commerce. I believe that education starts in a child's home, well before the child is old enough for school. However, I can't imagine sending a baby to school! A child needs its parents (mentally, physically and emotionally) up until the age of 6. Finland seems to have embraced this very important stage by waiting to send the children to school at 7! I totally agree with what Supriyo said in his closing statement. Yes, education is important but equally so is what you do with what you have. Not everyone in life is brilliant. I, myself am a very ordinary person. I was educated to year 10, back in 1966. I left school, worked until I got married. Then after a ten year break I went back to work in a new area of work. I consider myself successful in life. I am a good citizen, paid my taxes all my working life until I retired. I did my best to be a good mother and wife. We own our own home. It's old but mine. I have an old car. I don't have a ritzy, fancy type of life style and yet I am happy, content and in my opinion successful.

In my opinion, marks are just numbers and definitely they are not going to decide our future. This is something that every student should keep in their mind. Learning and understanding the concepts should be given more importance rather than on the results. Parents should encourage their children to approach exams in this positive way.

The main official language is Finnish and Swedish is spoken by about 10% of Finns as mother tongue. Everyone needs to learn both at school. English is by far the most popular first foreign language but not ogligatory. Many do more languages at school, German, French and Russian are popular.
