    This same technique is what I learned myself from experimenting on my own without instruction. I usually get these cramps in bed while relaxed and I turn over in my sleep. I grab my leg and pull my knee to my chest and grab my toes and pull hard. Within 10 seconds cramp reduces sharply. I have also learned over many years to take a little extra Magnesium a couple times a week. No cramps when I remember to do that.

    I wonder if you guys could comment on that thing ... I assume it happens to everyone but I guess I could be wrong. Where you are sleeping and all of a sudden you calf muscle tenses up uncontrollably to the point of excruciating pain and it is almost impossible to relax your calf muscle. What is that? How can it be prevented? Once you are in the middle of it, what is the best way to stop it and relax?

    Hi Bob. I had a second stroke in October of 2021 in my right cerebellum. I know you didn’t have one to be responsible for ataxia you experience, but it might be similar solution. I noticed with my slurred speech I would try to speak too fast and not give my vowels enough room to open up and breathe. I’m a pianist and a teacher, so I noticed the same thing in my playing and handwriting. My hand would not go up high enough in repeated notes, and my o, e, a, d, or any kinds of circles would by squished. It’s all connected. Open up your circles in the mouth, and take your time to get it out clearly, the way you want it. Most importantly, don’t lose confidence!

    Pulled my calf muscle 3 weeks ago. I’ve been icing it and using massage and it’s still super sore. I’d say it more sore now than it was on day 4. It’s supper tight and just feels like it’s gonna pull again. I’ve been limping around for three weeks. I’m scared to stretch as that’s what I did at the start thinking it was cramp, but it was pulled. How can I help if recover quicker as I want to be able to walk. I don’t think it was torn as it didn’t bruise or swell. Thanks

    Can you guys show us what to do when the muscle on the sole of the foot or the muscle in the shin goes into spasms? The shin muscle is excruciating! And since that word means "of the cross", I don't throw that word around willy-nilly. But my food began turning up and I didn't know how to stop it from cramping. When I was in the hospital with a back injury, my food went into a big spasms (as it often did), and the nurse did something that took the cramp away immediately! But I can't remember what she did to resolve it. I just walk around on the cramps, but I don't know if that's the best thing to do.

    Any thoughts on nighttime muscle cramps?? Every few weeks I am woken up with a major muscle cramp in either my calf or thigh muscle. The pain is excruciating and I immediately fall onto the floor and start to grab, squeeze and actually pound ( with my fist) the muscle to ease the cramp which usually lasts 3-5 minutes. My heart is racing and I am physically spent after the event.

    • @joseenoel8093
      @joseenoel8093 2 года назад

      1st Charlie Horse 🐎 occurred mid-section/wasn't too dramatic/2nd is on knee's outer limit and returns endlessly, such a hassle! I've yet to ice, my husband's PT wired him up and it went but in hoping eventually in better shape... Good luck, yes very painful, total mind of its own!

    • @epicon6
      @epicon6 Год назад

      Charlie horse means you got hit in the muscle, and it returns back to normal soon, calf strain means your muscle fibers have strained but not broken, calf tear means your muscle fibers actually snapped broken and depending if you snapped 5% or 25% or 50% the recovery can be months and you can even snap all of the muscle fibers which is pretty bad news.. But it's completely different than a charlie horse although it might feel similar in some ways. If you have a calf tear like i tore almost 50% of my muscle it’s incredibly painful and basically impossible to put any weight on it.
