Thanks for the informative video Marius - Old electrolytic capacitors are by far the most common components to fail (in my experience) and always worth checking first, which can save considerable time spent on diagnostics. I found that when the UPS battery's approach their end of serviceability, they put considerable additional strain on the battery charging circuit. It pays to install new batteries at the recommended intervals, which few people do. Most components will typically last decades, except for those filled with electrolytes. 😉
Helpful video. Thank you! A friend asked me to look into a APC Smart UPS 750 which was clicking endlessly when plugged in. I took it apart, stayed that way for a while, and after I assembled it back, it worked as it should. The batteries charged to 100 percent, but this overload issue started right when I plugged in a 300W laser printer so test the UPS further. The screen showed over 120% load and it beeped. No idea where to go from there.
Wow, this is great thanks! I see you just posted it 7 days ago and I was looking at the same issue on my APC Backup-UPS XS 1000. It is similar style on the outside so sure it is a similar board. I will open it up and take a closer look. With the original battery in it, it was just making beeping noise and lit "On Battery" but then I changed it to another BAD battery I had (showed on other system "bad battery" and using those batterys it actually lit up Overload. So if the batteries are really old or haven't used in a while it might not even show the correct error. I will buy a new set of batteries for the unit I know that works and then test those in the unit I am not sure if it works and then if I get that overload message again will follow our video or have someone do it for me with better soldering skills
A few days ago, my APC RS800 stopped working. I turned it on, waited for the green 'On-Line' LED, and plugged in my PC. Immediately, there was a loud bang, the electrical fuses tripped, and the side of the plastic case felt warm. Now, the device shows a red 'Overload' light, even without any electrical load connected. In the weeks leading up to this incident, I occasionally experienced the following pattern: turn on the UPS, wait for the green 'On Line' LED to come on, and plug the PC (without turning it on). At that point, the UPS would switch to the orange 'On Battery' LED. To fix this, I would turn off all components and repeat all steps again. Do you have any idea what component might have failed and where I should focus my attention? Thank you.
Curious how/where can you find the schematics for the various models, especially the SM* series? Looking to find out how to manually run "self-test" and possibly run tests through a serial connection.
@@diymariuselectro Thanks. I recently bought the NMC APC9641 as I found it on Amazon/APC store for a very reasonable price considering a used 9630 or new 9640. The NMC will can run a self-test manually in addition to other tests. There may be a way to run it through the front panel as well.
Hi, please tell me, what is the purpose of the third connector inside the battery compartment? Am I correct in understanding that two positive and one common negative wire come from a pair of batteries?
How to check gate drive of this ups, sir in my apc smart 1500 ups gate drive of +ve chennel is missing results no output how to repair this problem please help me.
you need schematic and osciloscop and check step by step.but if there is a big fault,is cheaper to buy another ups than repair it.you can repair only if you want to learn electronics,
Sir I am already expert in repairing of inverters that is the resason that I have checked its gate drive, i have also changed it's ic18(H-driver) smd ic, i found there is no input signal at pin no 2 & 7, Also I found voltage is at pin 3 & 4 that goes out from it's pin 13 & 14 also at pin 10 & 15 that drive voltage is absent. I think it's ic21(361-0025v2) is perhaps faulty because there is no any voltage at pin 4 & 7 of this ic which goes to pin no 2 & 7 of ic18(H-driver)

...when you play, especially 3D, your GPU drains a lot of current, maybe you have to upgrade your UPS to a more powerfull - the 500 handles 350 watt - a gaming pc and monitor + accessories easily arrive to 500 watt, not to mention heavy load games that require fast GPU and CPU with fancy cooling systems
Guys maybe someone knows the anwer - I had the similar problem with my BR1500I (with C41 capacitor) - I changed EVERY 22mkF 16v capacitors - UPS seems to work fine(switched on and off battery/electricty) - but if I load it over 300Watts and power goes off - it goes into 'OVERLOAD" status again. Have anyone encountered such problem?
@@diymariuselectro Can you name what voltages it should be? I've seen two 3000 mkF capacitors close to battery wires but they seem fine🤔 I have a scheme but have no idea where to look😁 Checked all 35v 10 mkf as well and changed them just in case but it didn't work

You are perefctly right bro.
I like your video (the problem is well known but your video is very steady and focusing. Thank you!
tnx man for feedback.for the moment i am using my phone, but when I will receive money from YT I will buy better camera.

tnx bro but I ve noticed that only simple jobs worth done, many times I ve replaced mosfets ups broke again soon.

bro I presume that is short mosfet . and my experience tell me that is not worth repaired, because in most cases will blow again. buy another one.
My APC 500 backup enters in OVERLOAD alarm even without load. Thanks for your video.

find the schematics for your model and foolow the wires.its simple.
When I start playing the overload alarm starts going off, is it normal? or do I have to change the 22uF 16V capacitor? I have the apc ups cs 500 model
yes try this maybe u r lucky.
