Mitsubishi only applies 1 thin layer of clear coat on all Evos to save weight, so you have to really treat the paint well
Rebuild the transmission and build the engine to prevent crank walk. The Evo 5 is a 6 bolt whereas the Evo 8 and up are 7 bolt
should put a evo 7 differential you'll feel the real power did it and it was magic sad i sold it tho you can pick up one in the caribbean where i live for a good price

Having owned an Evo 8 and a Evo 9 SE, it's good to finally see you get into an Evo. You'll be surprised what mods do to these things. The 4G63 is a fantastic engine.
is 4g63 from evo 5 to evo 9 different or they all same?
@@googlekorisnik3875 the Evo 9 4G has Mivec. It definitely went through some changes over the years, but it's still a great engine.
When it comes to the 8s and 9s different. I believe piston compression was different and previous Gen 4g63T didn't have the MIVEC system, and the 98-99 4G63T engines were the ones that randomly had crank walk issues, some say it was due to the revision of the oil squirters. Older Evos and DSMs were 190 hp stock, mid 90s to late 90s were 210, then 2000s Evos got a huge hp boost to 278 hp I believe, mostly due to compression and larger more efficient turbo systems over the prior generations, so it was very minor changes.
Artec manifold, dump and downpipe, 272cams, FPRed turbo, FMIC, R35 Cop Kit, 1300cc Injectors, Walbro 545 fuel pump, exhaust, boom there's your perfect Evo build.
For time attack though, he's going to want something that will spool faster than 4000 rpm red though. Reds are awesome though. I had a GT35 back in the day, I wouldn't see positive boost pressure till 4200 rpms. Stab the throttle, wait, laggggggg, boom, gooooooooo. LOL
Stock block evo 5-7 dont see the full potential of a fpred the motor is weaker than 8-9 the rest of the list is nice if he did a 2.2L or 2.3L build fpred would be a suitable turbo especially the new UHF Red however a smaller external Xona rotor is a much better option on a Vband artec manifold over stock frame, I use a xona 82-69s X3C with artec vband on my Evo 3 2.3L but I'm opt more for street an roll racing, but a 60 series Xona would fly on a track ❤

I’ve always wanted a Red or Yellow evo. I’m glad to see a turbo awd in your car collection.
First thing you’ll need is a clutch if you plan on adding more power. If it’s the stock clutch, it won’t last long. The transfer cases are a weak point in these too.

Be sure to check under the fender extensions in the rear; it’s a common rust spot. The hardware also tends to get brittle back there; mine popped a couple while normal driving.

I don't know much about these Evos but I'm just now recalling that when I was a kid (about 15-18 years ago) my neighbors had very similar looking cars and I would see them ripping down the street all the time. Remembering back it was 2 brothers, one with a blue Mitsubishi and one white, both modified and looked sweet. I would see them drive by and wonder what the hell kind of race cars they were driving

PRP has a lot of performance parts for the 4g63 platform. You should go billet block, forged pistons, dry sump, and sequential. If you want it to be fast and reliable on track

If you want to be a real track racer you need a legit FIA spec rear rain light, check out the offerings from Lifeline. You may need to sort of mold it into a rear splitter as most teams do. The beauty of having an AWD car is that rain, snow, or shine you can drive it at full-tilt. I highly, HIGHLY, suggest that you watch some GT spec racing to gather a better understanding of what grip driving is all about. It's not about being the fastest guy on track, it's about being the most consistent no matter the conditions.

As long as you build the motor ground up with mods, you'll be good. Especially the bearings both crank and rod.
