Napolitano is almost always wrong! The State Attorney made the local prosecutor drop the case. Chicago cops & Mayor are furious, and claim Smollett DID DO THE HOAX IN HIS OWN SELF-INTEREST. Political influence likely by the Obamas.

This is wrong. Kim Fox said she wanted to drop it to focus on violent crimes. There was nothing wrong with the case. The mayor and police chief is pissed. This isn't about the case having holes in it. This is politically motivated.

What they should have done was have Smollett testify in front of a grand jury as to his alleged assault. Even if he could not positively identify his attackers, the state could have gotten "John Doe" warrants for the assailants. If he chose to testify, and lied, they could have charged him with much the more serious crime of perjury. My guess is he would have refused to sit for the grand jury. The cops did a great job. This is corrupt to the core.
