He’s actually telling the truth about what happened that night. He just completely left out the fact that he set the entire thing up. That’s why he can give details so easily and tell the story of what happened in a straightforward manner. Because it did actually happen- but it happened at his own behest. So when he starts making himself out to be a victim and acting “humble and noble” that’s why it feels so disingenuous. He did actually go to Subway, he did see 2 people and have a scuffle. He did see their ski masks and whatnot. But when he starts acting like it happened because he’s so powerful and his voice needs to be silenced, and he’s so brave and strong- it gets cringe. That’s why it bugs me so much. His ego is so gross here. He plays the part of the noble victim so desperately.
