Welcome to Our French Chateau!
We are Amanda and Lincoln. With our two daughters and pets in tow, we moved across the world from our home in San Francisco California to buy and restore a petite chateau on 40 acres in the beautiful French countryside of Brittany.
Our channel documents our triumphs and failures in restoring the 19th-century Chateau de Lingourdy. We plan to return the gardens, cottages and barns to their former glory (on a tight budget) and open them up for events and luxurious stays to the public. So if you're interested in observing daily life through the eyes of an American family whose French language skills are quite lacking and who have amassed a menagerie that includes cats, dogs, and donkeys. Please join us...
There is something so incredibly soothing about watching two such preternaturally calm people tackle anything and everything that needs doing at your chateau. I’m so grateful to you two for being a little haven of sanity in an insane world. ❤
Thanks Michelle!
Agreed!😃
Love your music choices 😊 great editing . Always fun to watch
Thank you so much 😁
Choice of music is perfection! 👍🏽
Whenever I see Lincoln fighting a hedge or a bathroom issue I want to hop on plane at PDX and come help him.
😃
with you on the fireworks
Lincoln standing there with the weed eater by the hedges.... 😂😂😂 I love yalls humor.
I thought it was very Wes Anderson.
It looked like someone else had tried to remove the old paint on the wall behind the radiator--gave up--and put the radiator back!! It will look so good when you finish. Loved the quick tour in Paris. Thunder shirts or vests are wonderful for the pets with noise shivers or car shivers. Look forward to your videos.
I know it must be exhausting....but as a city dweller, I envy that you guys are doing physical work outside the house under the sun....very healthy living!
I really enjoy you and Lincoln ,the donkeys, and the cats and your lovely dog. Curious to know how the feral cat neuter program is going! I can’t wait to see the petite salon progress! 😊
Love, love, love your channel and the "matter of fact" way you approach your tasks... seemingly without chaos but with calm determination. Either that or you are just good at hiding the chaos (LOL).That hedge is a real project and consumes a lot of time and energy. Thank goodness it only has to be cut once a year. I look forward to your vlogs as they reassure me that the world has not gone totally insane!!
From afar it’s so beautiful🇺🇸🇺🇸 but you work so hard!! Appreciate your masterpiece 🌸🌺🌹🤗
Thank you! Cheers!

The raiders things are technically called “the thingy majigy”
Are radiators thingies called fins? Like radiators in cars?? Great video!!!
I believe they are radiator fins. The hedge looks great,
. Love you guys.
Another great video. Thanks!
Thanks for watching!
Hi Amanda and Lincoln, wow that hedge, well done Lincoln on that massive project. Amanda the Petit Salon is going to be beautiful when you are finished, I am looking forward to seeing the progress take place as you continue on. Thanks for sharing with us. Love from N.Y.
Thanks so much! 😊
I’m pretty sure most farmers have a hedge cutter attachment for their tractor - might be worth getting the farmer to do this for you once a year ?
Oh yeah! I live in a town with way too many hedges and I keep wondering if I could just find a friendly farmer…would take a fraction of the time…God I hate hedge cutting…
Mmm I mean hedges around my house…not just random hedges…
..I like all your vlogs...💖
Thank you 😊
Oh the places you take me ...
I'm as thrilled with the field of
Freshly mowed hay , the smell divine !
as I am window shopping in Paris 🗼.
Hedge is a work of art 🐝
Thunder shirt 🐾
It works make Tinkerbell magic .
Happy time's to you and the rest of
Your beautiful menagerie 🏰
Hello I'm a new subscriber and I think that you and your husband are doing a wonderful job also I've been binge watching
Welcome!!
You inspire me! Love YOUR hortensias too!
Oh thank you!
Watching you scrap off old crusty paint brought back memories of reno work I did lots of in my day. I'm old now and so very grateful I never have to do it again!
I always enjoy the humor in your videos, I like to have a reason to smile. The hedge is so pretty, I do love a good hedge because our homes always had them growing up. In the home my parents had when I was born my father bought plants to create a hedge for under $3 from a Sears garden centre. He planted it between our home and the neighbours and it was always beautiful and it's still there over 50 years later. I would love to shop in Paris, but alas I can't afford chandeliers either.
Have an awesome week for you and your family.
What a nice memory :)
Your Humour and editing is fantastic 😂😂😂😂😂
Thanks :)
Fantastic video ❤ I am positive that the work load must be overwhelming, you both are doing amazing work along with a great sense of humour. Thank you for sharing.
You have so much energy to do all the work in your château it s amazing !!!!
Lincoln working on the hedge is a lesson in persistence! I was happy to see you had some time to enjoy Paris … even if it was for a short time. Wishing you well from Oklahoma.
Best videos ever! I watch everyone you post. Be happy in France!
Oh wow, what a beautiful video from the stunning shots of Paris scenes, shopping, and you standing at the window with a breathtaking scene of your property behind you that looks like an oil painting!! Lincoln did a great job on the hedge and you are getting there on the salon. Loved your music choices also. xx
Glad you enjoyed it :)
Have you tried a Thunder Vest for Guava? They really work. It's like a constant hug that comforts them.
Absolutely love your videos. The way you present everything makes it enjoyable and I even want a pair of donkeys. Keep up the fantastic work and look forward to every one of your videos. Cheers from Canada.
Lincoln did a great job on the hedges. Don't you just love Paris!!!
Lincoln is becoming more and more like Chateau Gangsta! You'll have to get him a big gold chain so he can wear around his neck when you're he's trimming the Hedge. Another super fun vlog. I was waiting for your nose to start growing when you were telling Lincoln how much you were said going to Paris by yourself. 😅Keep up the great work. Cheers from Toronto
Your husband does a great hedge
The never-ending hedge. I had one of those before. So much work but worth it.
My dog Karla is cross boxer/pit, and the thunder and fireworks don't bother her at all. The only time she barks is once if she is left out on the deck too long, or if Kacey our male coon looking cat nips her. Karla never barks at the door. She is more of a therapy dog than a guard dog.
Those hydrangeas are beautiful. Good luck with the painting. That looked like a lot of hay. The donkeys will be very happy. Love the Paris shots. Too bad Lincoln couldn't go with you. I look forward to seeing your mom.❤
Love your vlogs.
Thank you 😊
I love your approach to the jobs you have to do around your chateau...you know I love the humour that accompanies your work and travel.
Great job on the hedge Lincoln! Loved your trip to Paris Linda🥰
Try a thundershirt worked for our dog it's like swaddling for security 😊
With the hydrangeas (which we called snowball flowers in Brooklyn) if you put some colors, I think blue or green, not sure, into a vase without water, they will dry retaining their shape and color. Jane, Philadelphia
Your stairway in the final view is magnificent. Terrific job!
Hi, I'm Connie...wanted to say thanks for the variety of content you have in your videos; and, also for sharing glimpses of Paris.
Glad you like them!
Your hehe music cracked me up! Never think your dry humor is lost on everyone! We sarcastic New Yorkers are right there with you! Lol!
🙃
Radiator pipes?? flanges???
Love your vlogs...😂
You work so hard, even despite those endless tasks... cutting those cherry laurel hedges if one of those "hopeless" duties... I really admire your patience with your never ending to do lists.
Amanda, I think you do the editing...SUPERB! Completely loved the music choice with Lincoln cutting the hedge. How goes the training for Uvea and Dominic? We did not get to see them or maybe I missed it.
Love your videos !
Thank you!!
Beautiful vlog, thank you for sharing, hydrangeas are one of my favourites, your hydrangeas look so gorgeous ❤😊
Thanks for taking us along to Paris. Beautiful hydrangeas. Enjoy your visit with your mom.
The hedge turned out great! 👏. Love your FF t-shirt Amanda 😊
Thank you!! 😊
Woww, what a beautiful vlog. Just you and Lincoln doing your thing. The poor pup. We had a big cat that was fearless of everything except, the wind. Our many other cats didn’t appear to be a fan of it either, but, he was terrified.
Paris.❤️
Mum is arriving. ❤️
Always beautiful to watch. Think the daughters are starting to have an impact on your change of music you play.😂👍❤️
As I said, best ‘natural’ chateau vlog. ✊❤️🥂
One of my favorites. : ). Authentic to themselves : )
Best natural chateau RUclips channel by, a country mile. ✊❤️🥂
😃
I love everything, you do.❤️😉😂
Agreed ❤
I love your videos 😍
Thank you 🤗💕💕💕
You should cut it back in the fall beyond the knots. It’ll be much easier to reach when trimming
Joining in with all the Thunder Shirt/Vest recommendations, if you can't find one, a thick tee shirt one size smaller than Guava will do the same thing. The tightness feels just like that comforting hug she needs.
I’m so excited for your solar installation! We have it in our winter home in Arizona and it works beautifully.
Nice work! So glad you got a little time in Paris too;)
Has Lincoln considered taking up topiary? I've always fancied a hedge shaped into some Beryl Cook ladies - her art always makes me feel so much better about myself
Lemon balm tincture really helps my 12 yo rescue.
always enjoy your videos
Oh don’t I get it about the the storms and the #%}* fireworks! Instead of meditation our vet recommended two things, one the thunder jacket, which basically is like wrapping a baby and they love it! Also they have a scarf or wrap if you will for covering their ears when it thunders… it really helps ours!
I made the decision to trim all bushes in our garden down to waist height so that when they do grow again, I can still easily keep them in trim in future. I don't fancy holding the trimmer way up past my waist, as I age. Quite a few bushes look very bare, but having trimmed them, they will sprout down lower too making them bushy rather than scrawny. It just takes a little time. Ah we do what we can. We had a dog that shivered at thunder, but only if she knew we were watching. If we sneaked a peak, she was fine. A good actor for sympathy/attention? Still not sure. Best wishes.
I miss Paris every day. Was there for 7 yrs total. Time to move back to La Belle France.
That hedge is a monster! Looking forward to the next vlog & seeing the Petit Salon.
Happy Solstice!
Same to you!
Fins is the word you want for radiator
I'm so happy to see Mimi adapting so well to chateau life. It warms my heart to see a kitty get a safe and loving home. Thanks for the video guys!
I love Hortensias (is that the name inFrench?) it’s the name in Español. Very nice aerial video, I have to finish painting my home in AZ. Just the hallways for now, I know it’s even closer at what you guys have to do. 😁
Yes, Hortensia in French :)
Wonderful vlog! Really enjoyed scenes in Paris. You two are such hard workers!
It's always a joy to watch your channel We spent last week in France....a couple of days in Normandy and then in the central Loire Valley with friends near Loches! I love waking up in France!
The flowers are beautiful!
Such a lovely update on your progress. Love the animals and a thunder vest might help your puppy. Thanks for the tour of Paris. Looking forward to seeing what your mom gets into. Thanks for sharing 😍😘
Love your chateau and enjoy the pace of the renovations. Together with everything in life. All good and careful with that scaffolding.
Thanks 👍
Great job balancing the indoor and outdoor work! Liz
Your renovation is so relatable, though our house is not a chateau I feel many of the moments you share while trying to repair, sand , paint , gardens etc. it’s all about the prep work isn’t it ? I feel so bad for Guava with the thunder, and yes the fireworks are the worst for these sensitive souls , your both so kind to all animals which is one of the many reasons I love your channel. Paris…. so beautiful. Enjoy your time with your mom. Hydrangeas almost ready to bloom here too! But don’t you love a mass of white cosmos ?
Did you say, 'Goodness me, the sander's broken'... :)
Thank you so much on the update. You both are fantastic to watch. Lots of Love to you all.
❤❤❤❤ Doris, Penrith 🇦🇺🦘
You both are creating your own stamp on the existing chateau and making it your own. You commitment each day is amazing keeping your personal lives separate along with your You Tube channel. I’m pretty sure those radiator thingies, gaps are actually are aka Fins.
Yeah, solar panels, and with all that land, a ground source heat pump, a bit pricey to install, but will keep your chateau warm very efficiently for a long time..
I think I may have missed something, but did you ever finish the bathroom? So many big projects. I’m curious, did you anticipate all this work when you bought the chateau? You are such a great couple-love your sense of humor. Good luck!
Yes! Bathroom is finished. Take a look at our previous videos. We did plan on all this work :)
Omg, i laughed so hard during the slo-mo-Lincoln-destroying-hedge-bad-ass sequence.
I always found cleaning the paint spray gun took more time then using the spray gun. Ah Paris……I haven’t been this year yet.
How lovely that you can go to Paris what a treat love the city and France!! Love your videos and your dry humour 😊
LOVE your channel! As others have said, a Thunder shirt works well for critters. Also, if you can anticipate storms or fireworks, calming chews can be bought in pet stores. If we don’t get ahead of it, our dog locks her jaws and cowers under a bench. In that case, I squirt CBD oil ( I got that in a pet store as well) in her mouth and that seems to help a lot. Good luck! ( great job on that hedge, Lincoln!)
I’ve always called them radiator ribs. I know that’s not right but they are ribs to me 😁
I think that the technical term is “fins”.
Mondo hedge !!! How many days does that take? I like the bench seating simply set ❤ in front and center of hedge
I just love you guys!
You guys are PROs….a pleasure to watch…not pretentious, not dramamatic just good old fashioned fortitude. I love your field trips too! Paris is wonderful. I really look forward to watching my new favorite show.
Thanks so much!
Thunder jackets really help, at least mine didn’t get as upset wearing hers.
We started having our guests fly into Rennes Airport. It’s been very convenient and many flights from CDG and other international airports as well. 😊
That candle was my favorite :)
Watching Lincoln trimming the hedge I kept hoping no birds nested there. Mid July we still have birds nesting (and raising chicks!) in vines and hedge and trees around our house.
radiator fins. Your brave. I had mine hauled away to be stripped and painted. Of course in doing so the movers dropped one on my staircase and I had to replace all of the stair treads. Thought you'd like to know that you were smart not to move it out of the room.
I believe there are weighted blankets for dogs to wear during storms. Might be a good investment.
Our golden retriever was petrified of thunder and fireworks we have an antique bed and she would worm her way under the bed it took my husband and I to get her out so I remember those days
Truly brilliant video😂 The hedge cutting soundtrack on all levels 😂👌🏽
Thanks :)
I would made certain all my windows were closed before the farmer came to chop the fields - dusty!
Would Guava wear a "Thunder Shirt"? It's a heavy wrapped coat that you put on your dog so they feel safe and protected. Great for dogs with anxiety. Runs about $40 USD
I'm unsure is she would enjoy it. I might give it a try...
Love the flowers!! Have you thought of having travelers that are willing to work for room and board to come help you? I forget what the site is called but I see other RUclipsrs use them and it seems to work out beautifully. I wish I could come.....I love to paint!!!❤️
Oh yes, and maybe Guava would benefit from a weighted blanket. Ty for the video😃⚜️
Radiator baffles
Love your humour and content! ❤️
Progress continues. You're gaining on it.
You two are literally doing this on your own which is incredible. Wow, not sure how old you are, but this is super inspiring for us in our post raising children years which is where we are.
WoW!! Lincoln, you did a great job on that hedge! I wouldn't sweat it trying to get it ll done. I'm sure your guests will understand, But if you do, that's great too. Beautiful views of Paris! The flowers are beautiful.
