    Welcome to Our French Chateau!
We are Amanda and Lincoln. With our two daughters and pets in tow, we moved across the world from our home in San Francisco California to buy and restore a petite chateau on 40 acres in the beautiful French countryside of Brittany.
Our channel documents our triumphs and failures in restoring the 19th-century Chateau de Lingourdy. We plan to return the gardens, cottages and barns to their former glory (on a tight budget) and open them up for events and luxurious stays to the public. So if you're interested in observing daily life through the eyes of an American family whose French language skills are quite lacking and who have amassed a menagerie that includes cats, dogs, and donkeys. Please join us...

There is something so incredibly soothing about watching two such preternaturally calm people tackle anything and everything that needs doing at your chateau. I’m so grateful to you two for being a little haven of sanity in an insane world. ❤

Loved the quick tour in Paris. Thunder shirts or vests are wonderful for the pets with noise shivers or car shivers. Look forward to your videos.

Love, love, love your channel and the "matter of fact" way you approach your tasks... seemingly without chaos but with calm determination. Either that or you are just good at hiding the chaos (LOL).That hedge is a real project and consumes a lot of time and energy. Thank goodness it only has to be cut once a year. I look forward to your vlogs as they reassure me that the world has not gone totally insane!!

I always enjoy the humor in your videos, I like to have a reason to smile. The hedge is so pretty, I do love a good hedge because our homes always had them growing up. In the home my parents had when I was born my father bought plants to create a hedge for under $3 from a Sears garden centre. He planted it between our home and the neighbours and it was always beautiful and it's still there over 50 years later. I would love to shop in Paris, but alas I can't afford chandeliers either.
Have an awesome week for you and your family.

The never-ending hedge. I had one of those before. So much work but worth it.
My dog Karla is cross boxer/pit, and the thunder and fireworks don't bother her at all. The only time she barks is once if she is left out on the deck too long, or if Kacey our male coon looking cat nips her. Karla never barks at the door. She is more of a therapy dog than a guard dog.
Those hydrangeas are beautiful. Good luck with the painting. That looked like a lot of hay. The donkeys will be very happy. Love the Paris shots. Too bad Lincoln couldn't go with you. I look forward to seeing your mom.❤

Instead of meditation our vet recommended two things, one the thunder jacket, which basically is like wrapping a baby and they love it! Also they have a scarf or wrap if you will for covering their ears when it thunders… it really helps ours!

I made the decision to trim all bushes in our garden down to waist height so that when they do grow again, I can still easily keep them in trim in future. I don't fancy holding the trimmer way up past my waist, as I age. Quite a few bushes look very bare, but having trimmed them, they will sprout down lower too making them bushy rather than scrawny. It just takes a little time. Ah we do what we can. We had a dog that shivered at thunder, but only if she knew we were watching. If we sneaked a peak, she was fine. A good actor for sympathy/attention? Still not sure. Best wishes.

If we don’t get ahead of it, our dog locks her jaws and cowers under a bench. In that case, I squirt CBD oil ( I got that in a pet store as well) in her mouth and that seems to help a lot. Good luck!
