I understand the need and I know the options are few but why do we keep picking up the walking wounded to backup other suspect players. What exactly do line coaches do if not to turn young healthy prospects into viable starters or at the very least backups?

It's an interesting scenario but I would say no. He did NOT play at a high level at guard. He was considered a borderline bust with the Cowboys as a guard. He had his moments but he was also benched in 2 seasons and tore his ACL while in Dallas. As a center for the Fins he played much better. If he signed on some lowball deal because of his injury I would only want him at center but most back up IOL need to have position versatility but I would not want him playing guard at all.
