Dude is amazing. I met him once in like 2014ish at a show and he talked to me and my friend for a solid 5 minutes afterwards. He was like "Oh you were the guys rocking out in the front row to every song right" haha
seal869 I hear that! I saw them a couple weeks ago and it was one of the most fun concerts I’ve ever been to. I was lucky to also meet a group of people that actually went to college with him and I partied with them for the duration haha
The white buffalo is one of the most underrated performers around! Seen him live a couple of times, last time 2 days after he was diagnosed with a chest Infection and he still sounded amazing!
Jake Smith aka White Buffalo is a lyrical genius. From deep, dark and emotional to happy, cheerful and uplifting music. His music have been a big part of my life the past 5 years or so. Earnie ball presented a series of episodes of the making of the album love and the death of damnation. Watching that will make you fall in love with his music.
The album this is from is called "Shadows, Greys and Evil Ways", and it's a concept album about joey white who goes to the middle east and comes back with PTSD. I really recommend the whole album in the correct order. My personal favourites are this song, and "This year".
I had never heard this artist before, so when I heard him start singing here, I paused right away and went immediately to watch the original video because I knew it was going to be emotional and I didn't want my first time hearing this with interruptions. And I was right to do so, because I was almost brought to tears by his performance. His voice grabs you right to the core! Wow! I still came back to see your reaction, though, don't worry! ;)
Every time I listen to this song it damned near brings me to tears...he does such a wonderful job of really bringing the emotion forward...there's so much pain and anguish in the lyrics, and he portrays it so well...
Ah man, what a great song. I've heard this one several times. And the great thing about The White Buffalo is the incredible amount of emotion and feeling he puts behind his vocals. Technical proficiency is great, but often times some of the most impactful performances are plainly sung but with tons of feeling end emotion behind it.
Omg! Yes! I have requested this guy a few times. I absolutely love him! Thank you so much! Gonna watch the video now, but I just could not contain my excitement until after, lol.
The album is titled shadows greys and evil ways. The whole thing tells a story from start to finish about a guys life from childhood to death.....its amazing! If you read along with the lyrics while listening it paints a amazing picture!!!

I've listened to this song about 20 times. Everything about it is familiar but as far as I can tell it's all original. The whistle (Ennio Morricone), the chord progression (reminds me of Jesus Christ Superstar- Pilate's Dream), the title and subject (Alice in Chains - The Rooster) and the overall subject (Nick Cave - Murder Ballads). I love this song. Thanks Beth.
I love your reaction channel cause you can find sometimes reals gems here. Had goosebumps, instantly. I like that you always willing to try something out of the ordinary. The Hu, Heilung, you are curious about things out of the comfortzone of "normal" music. Thanks for that
yes! i love this song and this artist :) many of his songs do seem to involve patriotism, soldiers, etc. Don't know much about him, though. he's a private man.
Never heard this guy but I really enjoyed it. I got some real Nick Cave vibes but he's definitely his own singer. I'd recommend Me And That Man for people who enjoy him.
I'm german. So I bet I missed alot, when it came to the lyrics. But, like you guessed, Beth: I think he serviced. And it reminds me much of James Blunt: "No bravery". Hat's off to a man who is able to make some of that experience a song. To shout out, what he's gone through. My brother-in-law serviced in Irak. And he's not a musician.
Patiently waiting until the day comes where Beth decides to react to Alice In Chains - Love, Hate, Love live at The Moore. It's going to be an awesome reaction to one of the greatest voices ever.
This guy was friends with some other friends I grew up with. Back then he was Jake (this was the early/mid 90's). People would beg him to pull out his guitar at parties and when he did, the whole party would just shut up and watch in awe. My favorite was his cover of a song called Black Balloon. All these years later and he's got all this success. Couldn't be happier for him. Super nice guy.
Please react to Polina Gagarina on The Singer 2019. Very powerful and beautiful voice! Try the song "Kukushka" first, that was her first performance on that show.
He's pretty amazing. His songs were featured in Sons of Anarchy quite often, and you can hear a couple in a few other shows, like Punisher from Netflix and This is Us on Hulu. He has a lot of beautiful songs!
Pleasantly surprised to see this pop up in my suggested videos! Jake is a very talented vocalist and songwriter. Please check out his songs Wish It Was True and Darling, What Have I Done? when you get a chance!
"Yeah, I get a lot of veterans and military coming up to me thanking me, because I wrote a whole album with that theme (Shadows, Greys And Evil Ways) and when I tell them I wasn’t they still thank me for channelling those feelings that some of them seem to feel." Interview with Maverick Magazine,2017
Also, he ended the way he started... ''This time is diferent, is not like the other times before...'' Like, it repeats itself - A cycle of that lie... Very cool to trully listen a song :)

Wolves by Ryan Bingham please and thank you! Also The Nameless by Sliptknot. I love this channel by the way, your knowledge and VERY perceptive view on these great songs is actually kind of inspirational. You break things down to help us understand what actually goes into the vocals and it's helped me out as a singer. So keep putting these out! You're awesome
i have never found out if he was in the army but i know he got his name because he played american football on a team where he was the only "white guy" and i think the team where either called the buffalo's or the mascot was a buffalo so they called him the white buffalo
Hi Beth! I would really enjoy it if you reacted to the Diablo Swing Orchestra. They have a great female/male vocalist duo. Well, it's a bit more subtle than that. The primary singer is female, but that guy singer is fantastic as well, and so features on a fair few songs. Tap Dancers Dilemma is a great intro to both the band, and to the male singer. Voodoo Mon Amour is a great intro to the female singer's opera chops. Neither song really does justice to their full range, but they are great intros. The first three albums had one singer, Anne-Louice. She was great. The fourth album has a different singer, Kristin, who is just as good, but with a different style. Superhero Jagganath shows off the new singer, Karma Bonfire shows how the two voices work together. If I had to choose, I would recommend Voodoo Mon Amour. It's swingy, metaly, operatic, and just straight up fun. Not a bad description of the band. In very broad strokes. With some primary colors left out. They have a song that could best be described as asian surf metal rock with a bitchin' clarinet solo. They're weird. They're fun. Enjoy!
I clicked on this so fast... I love the white buffalo.
Idem
They are just so so great

@@magamale2111 how tall is he, cause he seems huge
The first time i listened to White Buffalo was in Sons of Anarchy. His songs are so strong and sweet at the same time. Love it!
Same here. The Matador. Once I heard him, I never looked back. Also check out Noah Gundersen: Family. My jam!
Poignant is the best term IMHO
Excellent choice. The White Buffalo is a criminally underrated singer/songwriter. His band puts on a helluva high energy show too.

Wicked artist. The mans a breath of fresh air in this lacklustre industry.

This song is so good, so raw and very disturbing. His emotion is right there, it’s so powerful. He is captivating

"Own your vibrato. That's what Beth Roars says." 😂 Yes'm, will do!
Very funny, me too 😂😂
I know this is an old video.
But it's crazy how powerful his voice is and how hard it hits you even when its quieter
His cover of "house of the rising sun" is amazing as well
Got to see him in Atlanta Ga. An amazing performer. The 'rasp' is real.
Should do "sleeping on the blacktop" by colter wall.
I'd recommend damned by The White Buffalo. One of my favorites. You can feel the emotion he puts into it.
