When you hold the DJI Mic and DJI Mic 2 side by side, I find myself instinctively drawn to the appearance of the DJI Mic 2 on the right. Its translucent design gives it a really futuristic look.
I've been jonesing for the Pocket 3 creator's kit with the Mic 2 with the idea of using it on some other things. But with the soon release of the Mic 2 with the full mic kit I might just have to go for that for now and use it with a camera and phone for a while. Appreciate the video and actual raw samples.
I am working on a pretty tight budget and the DJI systems are interesting to me. I have been doing VA work on a Blue Snowball for awhile and the post processing edits honestly take 90% of my time. I have been looking for a good all arounder that I can use for basic dialogs as well as being able to get out and about for travel videos on my prof channel. Do you feel the extra cost of the Mic 2 is worth it for that? I want your opinion because yours has been the most straight forward and upfront vid I have seen since I started reasearching roughly 3 weeks ago.
Spending the extra $100 on the DJI mic 2 is the smart choice. You’re future proofing yourself with 32 bit audio float Better than buying two separate systems. I’m not super clear on your application with the blue snowball beyond basic dialogs. You might benefit from a dedicated home set up like tascam x6 paired with a shotgun mic.
@Fredo.heavyy I have been using the Snowball for animation/character voice overs and, while I have been able to make it work well enough to keep clients happy it is starting to die out. I know its a big ask from a wireless system but I am hoping the 32bit float could help me both continue doing VA work while also giving new freedom to go to events and record cleaner quality than my phone provides.
Hey Fredo, Dji 2 sounds very good! I'm eager to see a video from you after the announcement today of the Dji Mic 2, especially since we'll know the prices...
Thanks for making this comparison. I think it would be relevant to compare the quality in bluetooth mode, wireless receiver mode and internal mode as well. I have a suspicion that the mic 2 is severely limited when connected via bluetooth to something like a pocket 3.
For best audio you want to directly connect to the device directly or record internal in 32 bit float and sync in post. Bluetooth provides a convenient connect but it’s recommended to always have a back up track.
WHat do you have connected from the SM7DB to the Mic 2? Also is it me or is the DJI mic one sounding better straight out of the box with no EQ? I have the mic one and the mic 2, is the mic 2.....i noticed the mic 2 only sounds good with the pocket 3. When I connect the mic 2 to my iphone or samsung I notice quality drops off quite a bit, is that something you have noticed as well? Your like onne of the few I actually trust to come with these answers lol.
Yea connection over Bluetooth doesn’t provide best sound. It’s best to sync in post with internal recording or to connect to the device via USB C or Lighting
Did you figure out that you have to disable the “low cut” filter on the DJI MIc 2. Seems like it’s on by default when they shipped, was also my experience and once I disabled it DJI Mic 2 sounds great.

I think the DJI Mic2 sounds amazing, but just remember to turn off the default low cut.
Your reviews are always so passionate, it feels like you're right here talking to us in person, pouring your heart out.
DJI Mic 2 has even better sound quality!

Great vid. I have the DJI mics on my list. Now I'll look at the 2s.
You won’t be disappointed! DJI mic 2 has some great features

When video on shure sm7db?
Don’t have the right cable at my girlfriend place 😅
I'm late to watch your review, but it's great!

@@Fredo.heavyycool I'm glad to see I wasn't crazy noticing that drop off lol
why the mic 1 sounds better ? 😮
listen with a headphone on, the new mic is much smoother, mic 1 has a rasphy sound to it, which is annoying after you've noticed it.
Audio is subjective
Mic 1 sounds way better. We kept ours, returned the Mic 2 and ordered the Rode Pro’s. They sound the best of the lot.

@@Fredo.heavyy yes we did. Still sounded nasal to us
I wonder how it sounds processed - right now it all sounds bad out of the box.
Stay tuned! I’m gonna drop an EQ settings tutorial
Mic 1 sounds way better...
I don’t disagree with you but remember EQ and 32 bit float will give you more flexibility
The dji mic 2 SUCKS!!! Sounds so bad compared to Mic “1”!!!! Why?????????? 32 bit or not.
Tnx for the vid bro! Appreciate it!
This video is old, they fixed the sound with firmware update, it’s good now.
