Id love it if you could get one of each. for weddings, stick the white one on the bride, the clear one on the groom. Do you know if the transmitters can be purchased separately?
Black for my work. To be able to get more info back from loud noises? That would be really useful in a lot of situations. And a Magnetic clip?? omg I need this!
when, using a non-connect mic strictly in record mode with the gain jacked up high to capture ambient sounds, and not having to worry about clipping. How many times does something happen where we said things like “my phone saved the audio?" I ended up with three Mic 2 transmitters and I’m gonna use all three of them.
i would have loved the option to buy a 2 mic kit where one is white and one is black, because brides wear white and grooms (majority of the time) wear black. It's a little crazy that they didn't think to offer this.
@@eugeneputin1858 unfortunately you're probably right, but unfortunately for them this means I'm not going to bother upgrading so they're getting less of my money this way.

Whatever it is, at last what matters for the mic is the audio quality. I bought DJI Mic 2 with so much excitement, I was thrilled by its features, the way it instantly does things and everything it offers, after 2 days of using it, even after doing the post production edits, adding the EQ, the voice just felt like missing something of its core. But I didn't give up, i used it for 2 more days and hoped it will match or at least get close to my expectations, but it didn't happen. I returned the product today, got the RODE Wireless Pro! That's what was missing!
Solid video. I just got mine and I had to change out of the first 2 videos cause they were so dry. You do a great job at explaining the product AND being an entertaining creator.
just like you said, the original design looks more professional. and i love how i can relate when you said you'd probably like the new design when you were 14
Brilliant video as always! What I would love is a NON BRANDED matt microphone. That dji logo even on the old one is such an eyesore! I think this will be the next set I buy though, I hate that you need Rode software to get the backups off my Rode ones. This seems really convenient!
There's a big opportunity here for someone to make skins or covers for these. Something to make it matte, and cover that ultra-shiny clear panel. White for brides, matte black, and a variety of other colors. Maybe make them out of actual fabric, even patterned fabric to better match common suit/shirt materials.
I've never really been interested in these mics until they brought out the white one. I film weddings and the white version will be great for micing up the bride
I love the old one. I’ve had it for about a year. Like the wheel on the new one, but not enough to upgrade. It’d be great if they could offer that noise cancellation in a firmware upgrade for the previous version.
Well done, Sam. I'm a big fan of DJIs microphone products (among others) and will no doubt upgrade to the "2." I prefer the black one and, frankly, would love it if there was no logo on it...but I guess that's what gaff tape is made for. haha Actually, the Rode Wireless Go II is even more obnoxious with its logo on the transmitter. I generally use the lav mics just to avoid all that bulky technology and free advertising on camera. 32-bit-float is a great addition. I don't always need it, but like you said, when someone gets loud or laughs and clips the audio, it's a relief to know I have a usable back up. As for the mic's noise reduction, I agree with those who tend to skip it. Even the good noise reduction mics tend to sound too robotic. I'm willing to clean up some of the extra noise in post. It gives me more control.
Great video and thanks for the great summary! We have the old one. The main reason we hardly use it is because we have to use a separate cable. Well, first off….i just found that little metal/magnetic mic mount with my Pocket 3 stuff and how no clue what it was for so thanks for showing that. lol. Secondly, is there a headphone jack so you can listen to live audio?
We can't actually see the capsule in the new version (3:48) we can only see the protective screen. It's quite possible they are using the same microphone capsule in both versions. The published DJI specs don't include the microphone capsule diameter for either version.
Hey Sam ! great vidéo, very well put together ... I just have one thing to say : I think you are putting the transmitter on your camera the wrong way ! the screen should be facing you. its also easier for the cable since it's on the left side now :) also easier to see your gains and switch things if needed
Great video!!!! I didn’t know Spider-Man had such a talent brother! One thing, I couldn’t find the dji product link in the description. Is this mic not out yet? Shouldn’t you get a kick back, or did I just miss it? Thank you!!! You are awesome 😎
Next video, please test this with a range of other brand lavaliere mics. Also test the DJI lav in other brand wireless transmitters. I like the idea of the ratchet on the lav as well, it would be nice to know if this would work with the Ulanzi AM18, for example...
For pro shoots, I still can't help but bring my sennheiser EW100's as well. When it works, it works really well. But there are a lot of scenarios where the 2.4ghz is just limiting due to the amount noise from other 2.4ghz transmitters. Also, I kind of wished that they would have made the clip on mic a bit more stealthy. Should have been matte black without a huge white logo. If you are a working professional, I'd definitely suggest adding this to your kit, not replacing to what you probably already have.
Hi Sam, great review as usual. Great device. I would prefer the old style, but the new technique 🙂. Can you connect the DJI Mic 2 with the Lumix S5II via bluetooth like with the Action 4? That would be awesome...
The one feature that you’ve mentioned that seems pretty worthwhile, and I wonder if any other brand does it he is recording to the microphone body itself. I’m a big fan of redundancy, and knowing that I can always go to the device to get the audio I want is pretty smart. It does speak to the Bluetooth perhaps not being a perfect system But I still appreciate that method. And in fact my workflow with this device would probably be to use the input on the video as a reference and always pull the audio from both microphones expecting to have to sync it up. Especially if I was recording some thing that was lengthy, rather than having to check and see if any of the Audio cut out, I would just go to the individual mic recordings as a default.
@sam Holland So now i can use this kit with bluetooth on my iphone 15pro max and not have to worry about a hub when also using an ssd to record video???? If so I am ordering today and putting my original DJIMIC kit for sale.
I've been using my Rode lav mic plugged into the DJI transmitter (with the Osmo Pocket 3) so I don't have to clip that ridiculous thing to my clothes. What's this RUclipsr trend for holding tiny mics and/or clipping chunky mics to their clothes? I'm tempted to get the 1 x transmitted + 1 x receiver package because presumably I can attach my existing Osmo transmitter (they look the same). But the charging case looks excellent. Dang. Thanks for this fab video!
The last thing you want is automatic noise reduction, you will have situations when there is too much noise, and in softwares effort to reduce it, you will find out that there is not much left from the voice you were recording, or distortion of that voice will make it unusable. So better to leave noise reduction for post, where you can control the outcome.
Hi. Yes. There are generic presets which are suited to the microphones themselves which will sound great but I also have some finely tuned make and female options too 🙏🏻🎥
Audio has been my nemesis forever the more I watch tutorials the more confused I get. I had the Rode go a while back which made a massive difference then I lost the transmitter so went back to on board mics anyway last week I got the Rode Me so far I love it but I still sound like the thick Northern twat that I am, so although I enjoyed your vid and the mic looks awesome the thing I'm keen to try is your preset package truly amazing time we live in, soon I'll sound just like you......liked n subbed mate ta.
Seems like a nice setup. I just received my Rode Wireless Pro last week, so I'll be sticking with them for now. I like the fact that Rode includes the 2 lav mics with their setup. It's great to see the competition between the two companies and they've both made good improvements on each generation of microphones.
Nice one Sam. I`ve been waiting for the release day, I`ve ordered the black Mic only as I want it to connect via Bluetooth to my Action 4 for Moto Vlogging, can`t wait to get my hands on it. Fab video by the way Pal 😃😃
Oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooohhhhhhh That looks pretty pretty pretty good mate! I’m glad to see an actual button and scroll wheel on something. Touch screens aren’t always great if you have gloves or cold hands. Ignore people having a dig if you hold the mic, what’s the problem, loads do it! I like the white one too! As long as it doesn’t yellow. That noise cancellation is pretty great man! If I end up getting one of these it’s thanks to this video so cheers mate 🎉 And full props for you getting drunk to do this video. Or was it your twin who we haven’t seen for years 😉 Awesome video. And cmoooooon. You knew I’d be leaving a usual mammoth comment sometime 😂
The white mic looks clean 👏👏 and it looks like they managed to build in a solid noise cancellation feature into it 😮 I havent bought a DJI mic before (I have some of their other stuff) but I'm glad to see some features like this as it pushed the competition (like Rode lol) to keep up 👏 I agree though the transparent look would have fit right in in the early 2000s (if I'm remembering my technology eras correctly 😄) but I'm not big on it... But nothing a solid black or dark grey decal or even gaffer tape couldn't fix lol price isn't too bad either, lower than the Rode Pros (and arguably more features). Puffy case for the case and accessories looks cool too 😄 great video!
@@SamHolland Btw I think holding the mic was alright, I see other RUclipsrs do that and I think it's one of the convenient things about these types of mics lol so I'd keep holding the mic up like that if it was convenient for you lol
No one asked but: Talking is 60db, yelling is 80db, and whispering is 20db. That's a dynamic range of 60db (20-80) With 32 bit recording you have a dynamic range of about 1530db. The previous standard with MUCH smaller file sizes was 24 bit recording and it has a dynamic range of 144db.
When the first one came out I returned it because of 2 significant flaws; the touchscreen was rubbish (worked intermittently) and the cold-shoe adaptor was made of flimsy plastic which would easily break when you tried to remove it. Once the adapter was broken in the receiver it was knackered, as you couldn't even charge it because with the adapter stuck to it, it wouldn't fit in the charging case. I see they sorted out the screen by having a physical selector wheel/button but the cold-shoe adapter still looks like the crappy, cheap rubbish that they had on the original. Good luck changing it without it breaking.
Thanks for sharing this cool news. I had thought about the first version, this upgrade is very attractive. Didn’t the first version have a wonky cold shoe attachment? I thought you were going to talk about an improvement after that blurred out early teaser.
Hi Sam hope you’re well. Great video thanks, has made me want to upgrade from my previous DJI wireless set. Quick Question: say you have myself and my wife with the mics on but my daughter is running around and I want to pick up that audio what would you recommend? I thought I could use my Sony Shotgun into the camera and then we have a wireless mic each HOWEVER can I mix all three in post? As the video file would have the shotgun recorded to the file then I would sync the other two files in DaVinci? In short any advice? Perhaps I could just use the pick up audio from the two wireless mics to hear my daughter. It’s a right conundrum for me !!! Thanks
Great review.. Love the box. Not sure about the see through though.. Still prefer the other, Pro, brand because one can connect the case to a computer and transfer.
Really great content! You had me chuckling all the way through, which is such an unexpected bonus😂 What’s your opinion on these compared to the Rhode wireless mics?
@@krane15 hahaha the Arctic didn't think that one. I'm thinking light colored outfits like I don't know wedding gowns. Can't think of the other thing I was thinking was white as well.

Watched about 10 of your videos and love the humour you put in them ! You remind me of one my mates in look and humour 😀
Awesome! Many thanks! Can it be used for low-budget filmmaking in your opinion ?
Do you have a link - my old one got stolen so this is right on time. Would like for you to get credit for the purchase though if you have an affiliate link
Thank you. Sorry, I’m adding the link today
Shame I got the DJI v1 two weeks ago based on your previous review and love it. Think I will stick with the v1 for now
I love your DOF, what lens did you put on therE?
It’s so funny. I bought the first edition…and LOVE it! And of course, now we have the second one. You know what? I’m good. But to anyone who is wondering about which to get, don’t save the money. Get the new one. The 32 bit float feature sounds like a really nice one. Cheers!
Well, first off….i just found that little metal/magnetic mic mount with my Pocket 3 stuff and how no clue what it was for so thanks for showing that. lol. Secondly, is there a headphone jack so you can listen to live audio?
The RX has a headphone jack
10:10 - My thoughts exactly
Next video, please test this with a range of other brand lavaliere mics. Also test the DJI lav in other brand wireless transmitters. I like the idea of the ratchet on the lav as well, it would be nice to know if this would work with the Ulanzi AM18, for example...
It’s coming 🤩💪🏻🎥
Do you think DJI will launch a "normal" mirrorless camera with L mount someday in the relatively near future?
Your impression of drunk bloke at a wedding was spot on sir 👏
😂 thanks. We’ve all seen enough of them to know eh 😂👏🏻🎥
Did you say, "little teste??" 😳 Great review, as always - the little cut-aways make it even more fun!
Yeh I think that’s more discreet. Thank you 🤩🙏🏻🎥
hmmm zoom ? good review
The last thing you want is automatic noise reduction, you will have situations when there is too much noise, and in softwares effort to reduce it, you will find out that there is not much left
from the voice you were recording, or distortion of that voice will make it unusable. So better to leave noise reduction for post, where you can control the outcome.
Simply fantastic! Thank you for show us this DJI marvel!
Hey Sam! Was looking to buy some of your presets, I’m curious do your audio presets sound good with a woman’s voice?
Hi.
Legend. I hope the presets help. The master bundle comes with a tutorial which will help 🙏🏻🎥 all the best and thanks for watching
Seems like a nice setup. I just received my Rode Wireless Pro last week, so I'll be sticking with them for now. I like the fact that Rode includes the 2 lav mics with their setup. It's great to see the competition between the two companies and they've both made good improvements on each generation of microphones.
Very true! Companies striving to be the better means we get to choose 🤩🎥
Rode is better. Much better sound, range, and bass
I'm still rocking the Wireless go ii's and I much prefer them to the dji mics. Everything from durability to battery life.
@@EarthStory I've had the I, II and now the Pro...they've been pretty reliable for me overall.
Nice one Sam. I`ve been waiting for the release day, I`ve ordered the black Mic only as I want it to connect via Bluetooth to my Action 4 for Moto Vlogging, can`t wait to get my hands on it. Fab video by the way Pal 😃😃
Hey that’s exciting 🤩🎥 thank you! 🙏🏻
Oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooohhhhhhh
That looks pretty pretty pretty good mate!
If I end up getting one of these it’s thanks to this video so cheers mate 🎉
And full props for you getting drunk to do this video. Or was it your twin who we haven’t seen for years 😉
Awesome video. And cmoooooon. You knew I’d be leaving a usual mammoth comment sometime 😂
The white mic looks clean 👏👏 and it looks like they managed to build in a solid noise cancellation feature into it 😮 I havent bought a DJI mic before (I have some of their other stuff) but I'm glad to see some features like this as it pushed the competition (like Rode lol) to keep up 👏
I agree though the transparent look would have fit right in in the early 2000s (if I'm remembering my technology eras correctly 😄) but I'm not big on it... But nothing a solid black or dark grey decal or even gaffer tape couldn't fix lol price isn't too bad either, lower than the Rode Pros (and arguably more features).
Puffy case for the case and accessories looks cool too 😄 great video!
Thank you 🤩🙏🏻 so true. Nothing gaf tape can’t solve 😂👌🏻 thanks for watching
@@SamHolland Btw I think holding the mic was alright, I see other RUclipsrs do that and I think it's one of the convenient things about these types of mics lol so I'd keep holding the mic up like that if it was convenient for you lol
Really waiting for a 4-channel system, like Comica did (with less build quality).
That would be awesome.
Could you potentially use this for narrative films? Recording dialogues and entire scenes?
Good job DJI for teaming up with Sam :D Funny vid. Great devices.
The DJI 2 is fantastic 👍 compared to Rode esp. it’s so easy to use and absolutely a blessing for little RUclips content creators
Were you using the DJI as the main audio for this video?
I Hope They would make a way for you to Order Black & White As A Pair... Also Music Adlibs of 32FL would Always Be A Welcomed Thing.
Yours V1 came with a straight cable? That's wierd, mine came with a L-shape cable in the box.
@4:08 Good point. Does it have the screw-in for a mount/handle?
So which mic did you use to record this video?
Really great content! You had me chuckling all the way through, which is such an unexpected bonus😂 What’s your opinion on these compared to the Rhode wireless mics?
Clear all the way. Although it is nice to have a white one as well.
I suppose if you're recording in the arctic.
@@krane15 hahaha the Arctic didn't think that one. I'm thinking light colored outfits like I don't know wedding gowns. Can't think of the other thing I was thinking was white as well.
Great Video as Always! I like the old design more. Of course Black.
What backpack is that you are using outside?
Was that last test with and without the audio present gamed to make the 'without' rubbish because that would be a worry if it really did sound that bad out of the box?
Hi just came across your channel (YT Suggesten) and Wow well done Video is direct to the point. Thank you very much I subscribed
A big negative about this device is that it does not feature Timecode!
For this Reason the Rode Wireless Pro are the obvious choice (for me)
I keep coming back to hear Sam say "BUT"
Hold the mic if you want. Don't hold it if you don't want. And most importantly, do your best to ignore comments about stupid stuff on videos. I know it's difficult... but every dumb**s out there has an opinion, and the dumber it is, the more likely they are to share it.
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thanks 🎥
Can you hook up a different mic or sound source to the transmitters? And do they work in Stereo or Mono?
