Man, i really wanted to like this based on how intriguing some of the snippets sounded on the Overtura trailer (Infinity Sign in particular) as well as Coloratura being as good as it is but alas, this ended up just being a collection of incredibly mediocre and bland pop songs. I guess that's a disadvantage of getting Selena Gomez and BTS on your album huh. That said though, Humankind is a bop and even though i don't love it, i appreciate Infinity Sign for what it is. my man they are dying down as a band, of course they'd want to venture out and explore new things, and i have ventured to BTS after listening to my universe and their music is literally 60% hip hop with some deep messages ,calling them a disadvantage is really telling of how much you've listened to them, some of the things they've produced have been great and im glad my universe made me see that, always have to be open minded when listening to music, otherwise you're going to sound like an idiot, althou i don't know about selena, tried some of her songs and didnt like them but music is subjective ,but at least try the music first and from what ive learned of BTS, 3 members produce hip hop tracks, 2 jazz and soul, and the rest r&b ,the pop tracks they release are all typical label push stuff
@@EzioMonty117 mate im on a diet, but generally stop judging artists coldplay collabs with without knowing why they did it, BTS have come into the project when this isnt even something they would usually go for and all for chris's request, be respectful for a change
@@intergalactic2393 I'm not one to get into arguments like this because it's a waste of my time but when did i ever judge BTS? I just said that their contribution makes the album more bland sounding because of their sound in general. That has nothing to with them as a band as i have no real grudge towards their music. I'm happy BTS got what they wished for and that Chris liked working with them.
It's a good song, but nowhere near anything Floyd put out. The lyrics ESPECIALLY just aren't all that great. It sounds like Chris Martin reading through the glossary of a high school textbook... and then him naming colours... it's just an eye roll at times
remember Everyday life? I wanted more... and I Got this... I don't like this album, And I just hate that Everyday life is not that appreciated and For me is the best album from coldplay and they just... didn't learn. Welp... There is always other Bands and music out there, I recommend Oren Lavie, Boards Of canada or Red Vox if you are interested.
I love Coldplay and have been to been to everyone of their shows in Chicago over the last 2 decades. That being said, this album is fucking garbage. Absolute garbage. There’s not a single song I enjoyed and I honestly will never go out of my way to listen to anything on this album ever again. Here’s hoping they don’t play much from this album (or their last) on their upcoming 2022 tours.
They’re going to play a lot of songs from this album on tour bc that’s what they were made for. Sorry you can’t enjoy this work with the rest of us 🤷🏼♀️
In my opinion the complete album is a masterpiece and I can't understand how people couldn't like it. But still I liked the video because I thank you for your honest reaction.
I think that coldplay are in a new place and people are upset by that because we all love that chris martin being vulnerable and honest on parachutes and a rush of blood to the head. Maybe he has ran out of things to say. I thought it was a creative album with the different planets I thought that was really cool, however the singles were not good which normally is the opposite for coldplay albums. Coloratura is decent but is still quite glossy. Their first two albu.s won't be peaked nor should they try to. All we want from a coldplay album is honesty and something coming from a vulnerable place. For their last few albums have been too safe and that just doesn't work for them. Take my universe for example. I think that was a commercial move and perhaps a smart one if that's their intention, if that's what they want to achieve from their platform then I wish them well.
I completely appreciate everyone’s entitled to their opinions and tastes differ massively when it comes to music, but I’m sorry I’ve never seen someone look so disinterested listening to music in general. Bland seems to be his favourite word of the day. Don’t think I’ll be back in a hurry. 🤷♂️
I think Coldplay should stop trying to be what they are not. It's good that they embrace all music now, but they can't be everything. I'm all up for reinvention to attract new fans but it should be cohesive. Coloratura too they could have avoided the last part, it wasn't necessary to try to make 10 mins long, it would be better more crisp by deleting unnecessary parts.
I agree with you so much on this. People of the Pride made me laugh. It legit sounds like a fucking advert for a new angus burger or something. So much of the writing lacks on this record. Theres some nice instrumentation, because Coldplay are extremly capable musicians, but the writing overall tone and pace of the record is so off. The best songs on the record for me are biutyful and the 'infinity' icon track. That's about it lol.
Man I respect your point of view, but for me, every album of Coldplay has it soul, you should't compare them each over. I loved how in this one there are different styles of music, like a bit of Van Hallen vibe for HumanKind or Muse style for peopleofthepride (witch I don't like). Overall I like this album because it brings some fresh air with a band that has making music for 20 years. I just can love it ;) Thank you coldplay
I have no issue with anyone who enjoy any Coldplay album. They're a hard band to hate, because they're doing what they love. I simply just don't enjoy all that they make.
My reaction was same about My Universe, but I am happy they reached number one on billboard hot 100, but I don't listen to it and it's kinda sad for me
Why does everyone like Coloratura so much? (It's ok i guess). I like Higher Power, People of the Pride, My Universe is fun and Humankind is decent, but the rest pretty much suck lol. I'm a fan of their older stuff cause it was actually rock/pop, and their last 2 albums are barely rock/pop at all. They barely even sound like Coldplay.
Thanks for sharing. Like cover tunes? If you have a second, I just posted an acoustic cover of Shawn Mendes. As a fellow music fan, I'd love if you'd check it out. It's on my page. Hope you enjoy!
I think this album is boring, bland and generic, I think this is one of coldplays most blandest albums produced, everything just sounds so generic, lifeless and way to overly polished, I personally had more fun listening to A head full of dreams then I did listening to this album, I don’t get why that album gets a lot of hate because that album for me is at least fun to listen to and has some great tracks such as the opening track, this album besides maybe coloratura, is just generic.
The music itself is dull and generic in almost every song but I think the worst part about the entire album are the lyrics. I've grown to like and kinda cherish Coldplay's brand of optimism even with all its shortcomings and how surface level it always is (I loved it in the Prospekt's March EP and MX, and in AHFOD the happy songs at least were kinda fun) but this time it's just bad. I think I would really like Coloratura and maybe even Humankind or POTP if they had decent lyrics. Coloratura in particular suffers so much from it.
This review is so harsh and bs. There's lot of unnecessary hate when it comes to coldplay. Like dude there's so much of shitty music on the radio these days still coldplay gets all the hate! The NEW ALBUM IS SUPER COOL
its honest which is refreshing. It's ultimately his subjective opinion but I'll take harsh criticism over the fake reactions you get on every other channel.
@@LuciferMorningstar____ this is a pretentious hot take. It's not a matter of how "easy" it is to have a satisfied palate. Your palate would be just as easily satisfied if a band came out with your preferred genre. If an album meets a genre, people who like that genre will enjoy it. To each their own. You can have your "superior" music taste in your own corner of the earth. Nobody cares. I'm not all about this album either and I'll keep like 2 of these songs, but I still won't dog it and assume the listeners inferior brain dead people like some others I've observed in this comment section.
Coldplay has produced nothing but garbage with a few decent songs here and there since after mylo xyloto. This album hurt my brain to listen to. I saw them live during the mylo xyloto tour and the a head full of dreams tour. I would only see them again to listen to their older stuff. They were my favorite band, but all I see now are sell outs in the worst way possible. At least bands like U2, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Radiohead stayed true to their roots while developing their sounds.
"Stayed true to their roots" Thats more of a negative point, Coldplay compare to them always brought a new soul to their new albums, and I respect them for that. I can allready see the criticals like "it a copy paste of 2000 years or whatever..." if they had made the exact same things in the last 20 years.. I admit this is not the best album and I respect your point, but with all and all that this band has gived us, I take with hapiness few cool songs that they are still making in 2021. It can be just "bonuses" for me..
To me they peaked after Ghost Stories, with the exceptions like you said a select few tracks that came with AHFOD and Everyday Life albums. This album in particular I want to throw it off the balcony
@@LuciferMorningstar____ I actually like ghost stories quite a lot. I view it as a side project though. I know it’s one of their albums, but I don’t see it as a part of the bunch if that makes any sense. I guess it’s because when ghost stories came out I felt that it was weaker than the other albums before it, but I still enjoyed it.
@@samuelelisha9618 I completely agree. I too listened to Ghost Stories quite often, the sound was so novel and I loved the eeriness it brought and I was mesmerized by it. Definitely a separate category but one I will not hesitate to play repeatedly.
I wonder how the reviews of this album would be if we didn't have past Coldplay albums to compare it to. It's as if artists create their general sound over the span of their first 2 or 3 albums and then find themselves pigeon holed. Stop overthinking MOTS..it's a great album all on its own. A little poppish but still very well written/performed, extremely creative and an overall good listen.
I’ve just listening to the new album and it’s absolutely dreadful! What a cheesy pop mess! If I could get a refund for the album I’d take it and never listen to the album ever again
@@EliteTrooper211 whatever floats your boat. If you like it fair enough. X & Y was ok. They haven't bettered Parachutes and Rush of Blood for me though.
All those crying for Rock era wake up its 2021 and your rock era has gone, believe it and stop weeping over it. Just because a song has pop elements doesn't make it bad. Don't know why you guys are unnecessarily going harsh on this one.
There's still amazing rock coming out today, so I'm not sure what you mean. In the era of online streaming and digital releases, we're beyond the Billboard charts being the sole spotlight on commercial music.
Coldplay began as an alt-rock/britpop band in the 90s. They have strayed so far from their roots to try and stay relevant. Surely they have enough money by now? I don't know why they even call themselves a band anymore. It's the Chris Martin show. He should go solo then he can do whatever he wants with Max Martin, BTS, and Selena Gomez.
Dude I’m a fan of all their stuff, even A Head Full of Dreams and that album got a lot of hate. I totally agree that this album was so underwhelming and subpar. Really it’s just that most of the songs are just bad. They really spent most of their energy on Coloratura and the audio mixing rather than writing.
Everyone has the right to their opinion but so much hate for Coldplay has been a staple from “fans” throughout the years. In my opinion Everyday Life was their weakest album but even then they don’t really have a bad one to be honest. This album is really good, it’s time you clowns realize that pop/alternative is the new genre they are in now… There’s a reason hip hop and pop are the two biggest genres right now and have been for years now. On top of that no one is doing what Coldplay is doing with Music Of The Spheres… 7.5/10
@@moonillusions832 Finally glad I share this opinion with someone. I LOVE A Head Full of Dreams and it is definitely my favourite Coldplay album. I get why people don’t like AHFOD and at the end of the day music will always be subjective but man MOTS was a major step down.
Not entirely sure why you chose to review an album when a) you look half asleep and b) you don't seem to like Coldplay. It would be like me listening to an Eminem album when I hate Eminem and know it would be shit. Waste of your time. Music of the Spheres is terrific, by the way...and there's nothing wrong with going "pop" now and again. ..

Everyone has free right to judge a creation whether they can create it or not, you don’t have to be a chef in order to determine whether the food taste good or tastes like crap, So shut the hell up
@Karl Davis jesus christ you're incredibly petty lol. listeners have the absolute right to criticize an album, regardless of whether they're musically talented or not. it's all dependent on musical taste; if he didn't like it, that's fine, it just isn't for him. he didn't at all endlessly shit on the album throughout this review unlike some people

my man they are dying down as a band, of course they'd want to venture out and explore new things, and i have ventured to BTS after listening to my universe and their music is literally 60% hip hop with some deep messages ,calling them a disadvantage is really telling of how much you've listened to them, some of the things they've produced have been great and im glad my universe made me see that, always have to be open minded when listening to music, otherwise you're going to sound like an idiot, althou i don't know about selena, tried some of her songs and didnt like them but music is subjective ,but at least try the music first and from what ive learned of BTS, 3 members produce hip hop tracks, 2 jazz and soul, and the rest r&b ,the pop tracks they release are all typical label push stuff
@@intergalactic2393 Have a Snickers will you?
@@EzioMonty117 wdym by their sound in general, you don't know their sound in general 😃
I respect Alex for inflicting this upon himself. Brutal.
Humankind is definitely one of the most underrated Coldplay songs
I really like it. I think that human heart song is beautiful. Coloratura sounds kinda like Pink Floyd . I could hear David Gilmour on that track
It's a good song, but nowhere near anything Floyd put out. The lyrics ESPECIALLY just aren't all that great. It sounds like Chris Martin reading through the glossary of a high school textbook... and then him naming colours... it's just an eye roll at times
Please do not compare Coloratora to Pink Floyd lol.
“Thank you John Hopkins” LOL didn’t expect that
remember Everyday life?
Not even coloratura ?
They’re going to play a lot of songs from this album on tour bc that’s what they were made for. Sorry you can’t enjoy this work with the rest of us 🤷🏼♀️
Agreed this album is ass beyond 3 tracks
So disappointed
They totally placated to the masses and under performed
Finally found someone who pass "My Universe" with scrambled face
Oh boy. Go listen to Prince and let me see your happy reaction please
I had low expectations and still feel dissapointed. Biueatiful and Coloratura are the only tracks I really liked and want to listne multiple times.
You're so handsome
I don't think this album is all that bad. I actually like everything except (from worst to best): People of the Pride, Human Heart, and Coloratura.
In my opinion the complete album is a masterpiece and I can't understand how people couldn't like it. But still I liked the video because I thank you for your honest reaction.
terrible album what a regression from last one
has nothing to do with what i said
@@hothead5395 ghost stories is great but this was bad except for a few songs
🤓
I agree with you. The album is awful.
Coloratura has the guitar solo from Moving To Mars
I think Coldplay should stop trying to be what they are not. It's good that they embrace all music now, but they can't be everything. I'm all up for reinvention to attract new fans but it should be cohesive. Coloratura too they could have avoided the last part, it wasn't necessary to try to make 10 mins long, it would be better more crisp by deleting unnecessary parts.
If anybody likes it then fair enough BUT its a weak weak album. Its not good at all.
If anybody dislikes it then fair enough BUT it's a strong album. It is very good after all
@@benjamindavis4974 it's worse imo
@@AlexHaitz ok man I totally respect ;)! And thx for the video ;)
Thanks for watching!
On this album my favorites are HumanKind and Infinity Sign! :D
My reaction was same about My Universe, but I am happy they reached number one on billboard hot 100, but I don't listen to it and it's kinda sad for me
What's the song u mention at 19:53

This album was the worst from Coldplay. Horrible.
I feel u mate. This one is a true dissapointment. CP is dead for me.
@@TeachingNomadTravel and for me.
sorry but I am disapointed....this album its shit...sorry for the opinion Cris, still admire you...
Coloratura is great, the rest of the album is dire. Chris martins lyrics are crap and he has killed this band with his ego.
C'mon guys even if you like the album you can clearly tell the flaws are there, i don't think the album is horrible but it's far from memorable
My faves are Coloratura and People of the Pride
Yeah, bit of a let down this album.
My thoughts pretty much
Coloratura will grow on you, just like it did with me 🤣
You should review mercury act 1 by imagine dragons
Great review saying it how it is. Look at the reviews across the board, it’s a very poor album. I couldn’t agree more
This review is so harsh and bs.
It’s shitty pop music for pre-teens.
Nah, you just have an easily satisfied palate. Cool is pretty much generic commercial pop
It's kinda cool, but bad and disappointing sonically.
Same reaction.
"Stayed true to their roots"
Thats more of a negative point, Coldplay compare to them always brought a new soul to their new albums, and I respect them for that.
It’s the worst Coldplay album.
Maybe when they said BTS they were asking for Built To Spill having "Theres Nothing Wrong with Love" vibes in mind and the producer got it all wrong?
The song wasn't bad because of BTS. The production choices were questionable, but BTS did their best, and it aint as bad as you're making it
This album is one of the worst of the year imo
I wonder how the reviews of this album would be if we didn't have past Coldplay albums to compare it to. It's as if artists create their general sound over the span of their first 2 or 3 albums and then find themselves pigeon holed. Stop overthinking MOTS..it's a great album all on its own. A little poppish but still very well written/performed, extremely creative and an overall good listen.

I’ve been playing piano and guitar since 2008, and took piano lessons with an emphasis on music theory for about 7 years.

@@benjamindavis4974 I say that at 12:22.
@@benjamindavis4974 Does he write all the drums, bass, and guitar parts too?

Everyone has the right to their opinion but so much hate for Coldplay has been a staple from “fans” throughout the years. In my opinion Everyday Life was their weakest album but even then they don’t really have a bad one to be honest. This album is really good, it’s time you clowns realize that pop/alternative is the new genre they are in now… There’s a reason hip hop and pop are the two biggest genres right now and have been for years now.
