      I know people online through this word back-and-forth but I truly think Hassan is a narcissist, and that Ethan is having his realization. Everyone deals with that one narcissistic person and then has a huge realization that that person fits into that category. Once you realize they are narcissist it’s almost like you can see all their actions.
      Hassan is exactly like that . Everyone thinks he’s a great guy but the ones who know him know how he actually is. Ethan is probably realizing that he’s not filled with as much wisdom as he portrays and can see the snake maneuvers from him not like not holding ground on an opinion.
      I guarantee you after this, Ethan wants to get rid of him . This always makes you hate the person.

      This is how I'm interpreting it as well, questions like "Is it inherently bad to be a billionaire?" "Is greed good?" Don't have clear answers, and I'm hoping that Hasan can walk through the critical thought. I think it IS possible in todays age to be an ethical billionaire, but I think that is a flaw of American capitalism in 2023. The taxes and other mechanisms should be in place to make getting over that billion mark almost impossible. This discourages the extreme hoarding we see and encourage money to continue to circulate in the economy. Saying greed is taught is not the denial of intrinsic greed, yes as mammals we have an survival instinct and survival can oft be interrupted as greed. The reason socialist's preach the saying is because capitalism is a system where greed is encouraged and rewarded, making greed a virtue, we should set up our systems to promote community more than the self.

When he was still doing comedy sketches he cultivated a lot of braindead anti-sjw types as his audience, and had it out with them like almost every day for over a year. Ppl just assumed he was more of a socialist bc of who he's been associating with. The online left is made up of several catty high school esk cliques, so ppl just assume you must be part of said group if you're hanging out with one of the members. It’s kind of our natural state as humans, at the end of the day the only thing we really care about is our own emotional satisfaction. Even when we care about other people genuinely, at the bottom of that is our own self interest. Not necessarily a bad thing, just have to be aware of it.

    • @GomulDart
      @GomulDart Год назад +7

      @@_alreph You aren't entirely wrong, but I'd say the hierarchy is basic survival -> emotional satisfaction -> material satisfaction. Without any conditioning, most people will be self-centered in pursuit of these needs by default. For instance; the cliche that most people will say anything, do anything, give anything, betray anyone, in order to save themselves, I would say this is the ultimate representation of this innate selfishness. Thats why it's held as such a noble or honorable thing to sacrifice yourself and not betray someone, or otherwise throw yourself on the altar so to speak, in defense of others. Because it is understood that we must overcome that innate selfish desire to survive in order to uphold our morals/values etc.

    • @Nergal665
      @Nergal665 Год назад +3

      True but you don’t give children a prize for being selfish. You discipline them. Just like humans can be selfish, we can also be altruistic. All of human society is a testament to the fact that we can overcome that primitive greed and work together for the benefit of all.

  • @hrolfthestrange
    @hrolfthestrange Год назад +5

    God the 'indigenous communities were commies' argument is so so so stupid.
    First, besides the incan empire which used obligatory labor and work as currency, there's no evidence of this. (The labor was obligated by the state as well, this could be arguably some type of socialism but it's just as arguably serfdom with fewer steps)
    Second, small scale and homogenous traditional communities almost always are more communitarian BUT this comes at a cost, you need a lot of shared social and moral values and most often shared ethnic lineage to all agree on many different types of norms around cooperation(and people who don't conform for some reason face huge repercussions) and basically you can't have a scaled up society or a cosmopolitan society with this sort of communalism.
    Third, all documented indigenous tribes would routinely raid, war with and conquer lands if other tribes this might not be capitalist market greed but it is a greed for more resources of some type(also obviously all types of societies do this so not trying to single them out).
    Fourth, the whole thing is ahistorical and offensive romanticization of indigenous groups as 'noble savages' or 'hippie earth children' that has many negative effects on native Americans today.
    Fifth, when humans are actually in small scale subsistence tribal societies(as all humans once were) there are material problems that lead to famine and disease and death, if you have JUST ENOUGH food to go around, well a slightly worse or longer winter leads to starvation, a few new births lead to babies going hungry and a few untimely deaths by people who otherwise would be contributing food and resources lead to a community wide crisis. This is why, native American cultures ESPECIALLY pre Columbian exchange(which did dramatically change the landscape due to disease death) were successfully scaled up very similarly to cultures around the world with resource excess, trade and market based economies and even environmental degradation around urban(for the time) hubs. It's only coincidence of specific types of germs and immune systems that European cultures for the most part didn't directly witness large scale cultures that were actually very similar to their own in both north and south America.
    SO when people make that claim they are tacitly saying they would prefer traditionalist ethno states as opposed to cosmopolitan states, they are actively being racist and diminishing the accomplishments of culture by indigenous people and 'othering' them essentially as mythical forest people, they are saying that they'd rather have everyone experience deprivation of resources rather than some have surplus and they are making a mockery of history and currently living native American communities because they are talking over their actual histories and traditions.
