    What a honor to meet the man, the legend The Howlin Wolf!!! How blessed Keith was to have rubbed shoulders with these legends. The greatest gift that the British rock gave me was opening my eyes to the Men and Women who started it all.

    I can easily empathize with Keith here. I went backstage to meet Howlin Wolf and just sat there in awe. That's what you feel when you are sitting beside a living legend,. He offered me a sip of his whiskey which I passed on. We just listened to him talk. I would be equally in awe if I were to sit with Keith.

    I got into Howlin' Wolf BECAUSE Eric Clapton and Keith Richards and Jimi Hendrix loved him and he changed my life. Same with Wolf's guitar player Hubert Sumlin, who is one of my all-time favorite guitar players. Mick Jagger and Keith Richards paid for Hubert's funeral expenses. I loved the way that Hubert's snappy guitar tone complemented Wolf's throaty singing and harmonica playing. I actually got to meet Wolf's old bandmates when they played a show at my college back in 2012. Keith looked at Wolf and Muddy and John Lee Hooker and Robert Johnson the way we look at him and his contemporaries. The whole reason I play a Hummingbird acoustic is because Keith and Mick looked so cool when they played one.

      I'M sure you know this but for the benefit of those who don't, whenever the Stones recorded a blues cover it was ALWAYS credited to the original artist.

    I think the key to Keith just keeping going is his positive attitude. Negativity just doesn't seem to be a part of him.

    It's so helpful to recall that these men from America's south played the blues 'cos it was their lives. Our brattish boys from the suburbs sat in their bedrooms and practiced until they could sound just like the real thing... fish-fingers to cat fish gumbo! Listen to any one side of the London Sessions LPs to hear just how out of their depth the British youngsters really were...

    • @aarfeld
      @aarfeld 7 лет назад +5

      The Wolf received royalties for the songs he had written, recorded by others--especially the Stones, who used their own fame to promote their favorite Bluesmen, and unlike Led Zeppelin's efforts to pass of Willie Dixon's work as their own. He sued and won in court.

    Brian Jones had quit for two weeks a month before this. This was his doing. The shindig show. You ever see a black man in a gidget movie. ?
    Jones was a cultural force and direct descent of king of the Britains. He got it. Killing floor is this life.

    Even today, especially today, the Stones miss the articulate manners and sophistication of Brian Jones....Keith should pen a song to the man who originated the Rolling Stones.
