ryan one of the official languages of hong kong is English because in the past they were a british colony if I'm not mistaken and English it's used everywhere in Hong Kong!! love from Spain!!
Yes, you are right!
There are many languages that are used in China, Mandarin, cantonese, etc
@@pieck21 But Hong Kong mainly uses Cantonese and English.
Yeah I live in the UK and have friends from HK. They even choose their own English names when they are small children and are generally very fluent in it
@@adamcarter3483 true!!
Your vlogs are so chaotically calm in the BEST way possible!
I agree
Exactly what I’ve been feeling every time I watch his videos 😆 That’s the reason why I find his contents so fascinating
is he gay
@@SETPOOLHe is, but why does it matter?
@@SETPOOLyou rly have nothin else to do than typing multiple comments saying he’s gay ..
16:20 I agree with this so much. When I went to Japan for 31days on vacation, I used japan reddit to get feedback & tips on my trip itinerary and people were so pissed that I didnt have my days jam packed with temples, tourist staples and such. Instead I had it very chill and filled with restaurants & cafes and stores I wanted to go to.
I am SOOOO glad I did what I wanted to do because I had so much fun.
Most foreigners are actually British people who immigrated to Hong Kong for work/to enforce British law when it was a British colony. They have been there for generations; it's their home!
Actually, the largest group of foreigners in HK is made up of the Indonesian and Filipino domestic workers. "British" immigrants are now a tiny minority.
@@lowella6669 French speaker people are in a big group now.
from hong kong here!! Loveeee that you came, there's genuinely so much to do. even as someone who's born and raised here, we still have so much areas we haven't explored. I think tourists who come here tend to forget the nature side of hk. we have untouched beaches, hikes, and isalnds you can hop around. if you come back, definitely check them out!! lots of love
hey! im actually going to hong kong next month, is there anywhere you would recommend specifically? :)
@@kenztte hey!! Yess are you looking for touristy hotspots, naturey activities, or food recs
there’s actually a lot to explore in hong kong, i wish i can tell you all 😭, but if you’ve never visited here before i suggest you to feel the vibe of hong kong first ! Watching hk films it’s best way to start n ofc wong kar wai is everyone’s favourite ❤ hope to see you againnn
Great that you stepped outside your comfort zone. The people of Hong Kong are very kind - I lived there for 12 years and always felt safe. I think if you ever did come back to Hong Kong I'd recommend going to one of their many beaches (like in sai kung country park) joining a hike, joining a junk boat party and eating more of the local cuisine (like dim sum).
I agree with you on not doing a tourist itinerary when you travel because it feels forced and rushed and like you said it's not enjoyable. I'm an adventurous person and like to venture off to see and do things on my own. You find the best places when you wonder.
the mango coconut drink is probably 杨枝甘露(yáng zhī gān lù). It's a traditional summer drink, and it's called(Coconut) Mango Pomelo Sago when translated into English. You can literally just make it yourself with mango, pomelo, sago and coconut milk(cream).
We don’t speak mandarin in hk, but yea it’s still called 楊枝甘露here and I love it sm too
@@phoebechan4069 From my experience in hk, mandarin also works most of the time
Lmfao! Not the Paris flashback 😭😭😭. So crazy you went from that situation to the one you are rn. It’s so inspirational
ryan, i wanted to say thank you because i’m a senior in high school right now, and theres such a big fear that after graduating life is gonna suck
but your videos make me so happy and show that life doesn’t end after high school
this is so freaking random 😭 but ILYY!
It's no big deal though, but Hong Kong is literally part of the People's Republic of China, despite having a very seperated system in many aspects. So you are not going to say Hong Kong is a country in its own. It's HK and Mainland China, not HK and China.
This is not like the case of PRC and Republic of China (which is usually called Taiwan now).
hong kong looks really busy, I like how you encourage people not to do the stereotypical tourist activities and just enjoy whatever gets in the way!!! Hope you get to Japan safely, loved the vid!!
i love your videos so much because you’re so relatable and these videos are so comforting because of how relatable it is. like the social anxiety restaurant part, i 100% understand and i would’ve done the EXACT same thing and also the tall buildings and you felt bad for being there i would’ve too. these videos just hit home
also you’ve convinced me to move to japan, ive been wanting to since i was 11 but haven’t actually decided, but you’ve made me realize i really wanna go
I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR YOU RYANNN WAKE UP EVERYONE!
16:30 honestly so real, every time i've travelled and tried to pack so much stuff into a 5-7 day timeframe it ends up so miserable and missing out on stuff i actually wanted to do. like LOVEEE doing all of the cultural things and touristy things, especially with other ppl bc compromising is difficult, but i love traveling alone for this reason. sometimes u need a coffee and a girl walk around a random city. this is what i did in japan and korea this summer and it was immensely more enjoyable than attempting to get in all of the tourist stuff within a week and just stumbling upon it if i happened to
The kids don't even know HK was a British Colony... it's been that long.😂❤ i love seeing your journey and even if you don't know what you're doing, it nice to see the things❤
So pleased that you are getting more relaxed with the camera and putting out more YT vlogs. 🫶
Ryan is a vibeee! Nice that youre uploading on a Sunday. I have something nice to watch on dinner before I mentally prepare my self for work the next day. :'')
Your opening was bomb!!!!!!! Love your editing - sooo good Ryan! Keep it up! Also, i couldn't stop laughing about your restaurant grand entrance lololol that was hilarious
Ryan is my comfort youtuber, like when I need to just unwind and destress I can count on him:,)
P e r I o d. Like, babe, im speechless. You’re the kindest person ever for saying hi to everyone at street. Love u. I’m so proud of you, too. You did it babe. You faced the situation. Love u love u love u
I found so much comfort in watching your vlogs and I just started In mid August!!! Love it hereee
About 1/10 people in Hong Kong are non Chinese, and English is actually one of the offical language here, so it is an easy place to travel. The other side of Hong Kong is so different and full of natural attractions and traditional villages, hope to see you soon again!
11:40 the lady asking sounds so cute haha “May I ask why” so polite too
Girl, you gotta visit Hong Kong again! Longer stay like one week. The BBQ. The street food. The clay pot rice. The dim sum. High noon tea. The bargain shopping also known as Women’s street. The seafood. The Michelin rated restaurant at Four Seasons. The Hong Kong milk tea. The herbal teas. Acupuncture. The pastries.
I agree with you 100% . Keep doing too much touristy stuff make me just miserable. Just going to coffee shop and chill is the best. I love your honesty and uniqueness. You’re very fun and special!
i was having a really horrible day SEEING YOU UPLOADED A NEW VIDEO WAS AN INSTANTTT MOOD LIFTER IM SO EXCITED TO WATCH THIS

always love ur vlogs !!! also that mango drink looked soooo good im jealous
ryan idk if u’ll ever see this but i just wanna tysm for existing. your videos literally MADE my day every time, like literally one notification from you just instantly brightens up my mood.
yes everybody has their own idea of fun!! I love your vlogs
Wow, that hotel room looks amazing for the price! I remember the hotel room I stayed in Hong Kong a couple of years ago. It was $100 for one night, much smaller and simpler, and the hot water in the shower only lasted for about 15 minutes before you had to wait for it to heat up again. I’m now living in Shenzhen, China, which is the closest mainland city to Hong Kong. It only takes 10 minutes to get there by train so I’ve been to Hong Kong several times. The last time, I visited some islands and had so much fun! They are so different from the city center. Way fewer people, everyone just chilled there and you can see the most beautiful sea. The city feels kind of boring to me now, but the islands are really fun to explore! I highly recommend them to anyone planning to visit Hong Kong :)
i super agree that we should all just do what makes us happy when we travel. we need to enjoy it
I am so proud of you. You are living life to the fullest with no regrets. Continue to live, love, and enjoy life; you deserve it.
OMG RYANNN love your videos, you’re the coolest person on RUclips literally the montage ateee
the airism underwear is lit the best thing i ever found its so fucking good and airy i’m so happy ty for everything ryan fr
I totally agree w ur travel ideas! But if you're staying in hk for more than a day, especially if you're staying in Wan Chai and the weather’s nice, you’ve got to check out the skyline from the tst pier. I’ve taken friends from abroad to hk before, and I’ve been to Shanghai too, but we all thought Hong Kong’s skyline was absolutely stunning and impressive!
HK's skyline is heaveeeeen!
I love how The HK skyline seems to stream so naturally into the wide plains of the mainland
The seawater that rolls up and breaks into the walls of the Peninsula Hotel. Looks fresh and is of the colour of Jade green. I entered HK from Kowloon. Which has a central market with food stalls and open tables feel like the hawker centres of Singapore. There's a school, a Community centre,.playground with

How I love going for Dim Sum in Kow loon and Chinatown.
So good to see you pushing yourself, instantly being rewarded for it and enjoying that achievement. Also the coming to terms with going with the flow moment. You really don't HAVE to do all the expected things. If you're happy and satisfied then you did a job well done for yourself! Awesome growth in 1 day🥳😁
OH NO! Now i am all caught up. I literally watched like 60% of your RUclips content after discovering you on TikTok. So cute, love all of this!!
Hong Kong is a vibe and I’m all about finding my coffee shops and food spots best part of trips

I’m so obsessed w you like I love u so much and ur so brave ur my idollllo
ryan!!!! camera/editing tip - disable your warp stabiliser or thru post/editing if you were using it - in parts like 13:40 the background behind you like the stairs looks like its jiggling/warping to combat the camera shaking, and it can sometimes be really disorienting and dizzying!!!!! ur videos r amazing tjo I just binged u for like 4 hours :)))
REAL travel advice!!! All my best trips went a little off the beaten path :)
