FINALLY! Someone that gets it! This Corolla is fucking awesome! I've had many vehicles in the past 10 years including F-150, two Lexus ES, Tacoma TRD Sport 3rd gen, Mustang, 4th and 5th gen 4Runner, Jeep Wrangler, Camry, Rav4, Audi A6, and a Miata GT. I have a 2020 Corolla Hatchback I just bought after trading in my 4Runner and this guy is 100% correct. It drives almost as smooth as my Lexus ES, it handles and takes corners as good if not better than the Miata GT, and has better tech than most of them. It's a fantastic little car for an amazing price. It lacks space in trunk, and speed compared to competitors...but in return you get legendary Toyota reliability, great handling, styling, and very up to date tech and safety features. Toyota knocked it out of the park with this gen of Corollas sedan and hatchback. My little corolla hatchback can soak up potholes and train track crossings like a Lexus or Cadillac, sips on gas almost like a hybrid, and is as fun to drive as my Miata.
Love the list of cars. Love seeing the comparison to Lexus and the Miata. I gotta drive one. I'm stunned. Miata in the Twisties, no way. Lexus smoothness ooohhh. Thanks
I bought a ‘24 SE sedan and even with the CVT I really like it. Great video, awesome photography, narration, music very professional. I thought it was a factory video! Anyway, all true statements. I just got a brand new 2021 Corolla XSE a few days ago after trading in my 2017 Corolla 6 speed manual. There wasn't any manual so I opted for the CVT since I can just trade it in when there's a manual available or when the rumored GR version comes out. It's also the only blue colored one. Every other one is black and black gets too dirty for me. I don't see anyone driving this car so far so it's pretty unique in a sense. Great car. Smooth, quiet and fast when it wants to. Can't wait to have some fun after breaking it in first.
I immediately thought about the color Hyper Blue from Subaru when I first saw Blue Flame. I've been having a hard time deciding which color to choose for this car but your fantastic cinematography has convinced me that I should choose this color. Thank you! :D
I was at the Toyota dealership this weekend to get an oil change for my 12 year old Yaris that still runs like its brand new. I saw this car on the salesfloor and thinking about upgrading to this pretty soon.
This is a great review and showcasing the Corolla this way. I wish to get one for my self. Still driving my 2015 Corolla S right now. My choices for color, either Pearl white, Blueflame, or Bronze Oxide, with black roof!
If you are looking at it from a purely numbers perspective, the manual is faster. I got the CVT because I liked that the physical launch gear still gets you going quickly but doesn't mean I have to constantly shift while sitting in traffic on the way to work. @@BrandonWatkinsBmW13294 I actually had looked into that not long after I got the car. I had thought about it but with the area I live in, there are a lot of elevation changes with wide roads that don't have markings. I'm sure it's probably great but I'd be nervous sitting in the car while it drove itself. Maybe one day it will be something we test out.
@@Joyrides fair I can totally understand that. I drive about 60 miles a day for work then twice a month I drive about 700 miles round-trip down to southern California, so for me I feel like it would pay for its self.. I just Wana pay down the car more before I start spending more money on it.
I agree that your XSE looks great but why is it down on power? The 2005 Corolla XR-S had 170hp and with very little mods it would destroy a Honda K20 or K24. How is the 2.0 liter engine with 2 less hp better than the joint Toyota, Yamaha 1.8 engine I ask? The XSE 2.0 liter only has one real gear and it's first gear to get better launch of the line. Do a comparison test with the last gen Nissan Sentra SR Turbo with a 1.8 making 170 hp and the 1.6 Hyundai Veloster turbo just to see how well it matches up with the competition. Not hating on the new Corolla XSE at all. Saw a video on RUclips racing a 2002 Acura RS-X Type S with 201 hp and the Acura finally caught up at about 120 mph. I was really impressed with the Corolla XSE!!! Wish I could find more reviews or comparison test.
I don’t know anyone or have access to any of those cars. The Corolla may have a few hp less than the XRS buts it’s a great engine and even if it’s not the fastest or going to win any drag races, it’s a fun car to drive through corners. That’s how I was approaching my decision for buying one. Not sure we will ever do comparisons, a few other youtubers compared it to the GTI and Civic Sport.
Just get it , you won't regret. Don't worry about low hp it's very fun to drive. There's a sport mode on the cvt. It's not like any other car I have driven with a sport mode. It's aggressive with it on. Test drive one , I guarantee you will buy it. By the way I got the SE.
Driving like way your driving and you will not get good fuel economy. In the 30s is not good enough. You need the hybrid hatchback for better economy. How ever you get the gr over here Europe we not.and I think salon for newer version has been dropped allso we don't get the newer shape camry as most people driving suv.s now.
I still wasn’t a fan of the interior feeling claustrophobic and dark with how thick the C-pillars are. It’s a pretty car but it just wasn’t the hatchback for me. FWD was a bit cheaper but if I got a Mazda 3 I’d want the AWD.
There’s supposedly a GR Corolla coming in 2021/2022 that will use the 3 cylinder turbo from the JDM Yaris and it’s AWD system. Like 265 HP. I’m definitely excited to get one of those.
blorg I’m assuming it will be similar to the GR Yaris. That has two limited slip differentials and the option for normal, sport and track modes. Normal is a 60:40 F:R split, sport is a 30:70 split and track is a 50:50 split. Sounds like fun to me!
Just purchased my SE last month. I love how 80% are standard compare to Impreza. Better mpg as well and reliability is top notch! Let’s do car meet!!!
Honestly it was a lot of what lead me to get the Toyota over the Subaru. I love Impreza's but having to pay extra to be safe was a no go for me.

@@Joyrides fingers crossed they come thur with that! Thanks for the info. Great Review btw. You should check out, comma.AI 's autopilot software, that works fantastic with our cars! It's something that I'm looking at investing into.
@@BrandonWatkinsBmW13294 Not a bad idea
Add a hybrid drivetrain and I'm in.
Bro u can get mazda 3 fwd
I still wasn’t a fan of the interior feeling claustrophobic and dark with how thick the C-pillars are. It’s a pretty car but it just wasn’t the hatchback for me. FWD was a bit cheaper but if I got a Mazda 3 I’d want the AWD.
@@Joyrides that's true those c pillars are ugly I bought this car in sliver tho
Lol @ clippy clops
Ha ha ha
Like the Asian brother of the Ford Focus RS. Especially the blue
I do like the RS in blue. I may just have a thing for bright blue cars though.
paddle shifters on a CVT..... BBBOOOOO.
They are a lot of fun on the Corolla hatchback. That physical first gear is super nice.
just needs AWD and i'll buy one
There’s supposedly a GR Corolla coming in 2021/2022 that will use the 3 cylinder turbo from the JDM Yaris and it’s AWD system. Like 265 HP. I’m definitely excited to get one of those.
@@Joyrides bigger question, is it going to be a dedicated AWD? and no "system activated AWD"
blorg I’m assuming it will be similar to the GR Yaris. That has two limited slip differentials and the option for normal, sport and track modes. Normal is a 60:40 F:R split, sport is a 30:70 split and track is a 50:50 split. Sounds like fun to me!
@@Joyrides I'm worried about the price tag. Id pick one up but not for anything over 30k
Mr Obvious....Bringing you the obvious! Are you him?
I wish it had AWD.
