There's no excuses for any of the coaches. Everyone should have what they need. Ben Johnson needs to stop disappearing in the 3rd qtr and putting the defense in tough spots.
Exactly my man. BJ gets too much unwarranted genius praise even when he fails to adjust. 3rd quarter SF comes to mind. The run was KILLING them but he switched it off?!?

I kind of agree with the fact that he's out of excuses. We beefed up our secondary, and our defense in general. I don't necessarily think he was on the hot seat though last year though, but our defense better be top 12-15 or else he bouta be gone. Which is sad, because he's a great guy.

Pass rush is still worrisome in my opinion. But he needs to be a top 15 defense. Overall was 23. Remember look at the DB play if they improve we should be top 15 easily in my opinion!
This year's defense will take a jump like last year's offense too a jump. It'll be wildly improved. Matheir Betts will knock your socks off and I know you been looking for that DE.

We were 25th ranked last year. As a minimum we need to demand a 50% improvement. Meaning no worse then 13th.

Top 10 defensive or bust
Things move slowly for those at the top. It'll take a few years in a row of abject failure to see AG moved out.
I hate to say it because of all of the AG haters out there, but outside of being the worst defense in the league, I dont see AG loosing his job. Thats Dan's DUDE! And this team loves him. Regardless of how we feel, it has to be a complete meltdown and him loosing the lockeroom for AG to get fired. I see the Lions finding AG another position either with us or another team before he just gets let go.
How does Ben Johnson get a pass?
His job isn’t safe. Defense needs to be top 16 . But are cornerback room was terrible last season and we had major injuries in secondary.
After all the capital spent on the secondary it better be a no fly zone. Time will tell.

We finished 3rd in 2023-2024 so we won the division we gotta go beyond 12-5 refs or no refs because that shows we are improving from a numeric value preferably 1st in the NFC or 2nd seed hopefully over SF, but 5th in the run good no need to improve at stopping the wrong D-Line we are Lions go hunt the QB or minimum pressure where the opposing QB is making off schedule throws like that, so if Sack stay down, INTs HAVE to go up as a result because on the back 7, Brian Branch, Kerby Joseph, that Canadian player who i cannot name right now, they have been showing to slowly steadily build a winning defense like Malcolm Rodriguez, Anzalone, Barnes, Campbell i mean i know we have guys on defense no i'll say this is why we lost to SF and being a young team who prior to Dan Campbell and Brad Holmes didn’t experience much winning i mean win a super bowl everyone, the players, could probably eat free lol

Most important Defensive stat is Points, then Turnovers, 4th Down Stops and 4th is Sacks. Good Lord are we still expecting the Lions with all that talent not to be a top 10 in every category? Please tell me you're not praying for just a Bend Don't Break Dee like what Jared got stuck with in LA under Wade Phillips this year?
I wanted him gone last year. He has to get this defense to bring at least middle of the pack at best.
If..,( and i hate to put that out there nock on wood,) we hit big by the injury bug on our defense, and i mean alot of people injured, then that's the one and only excuse to not fire him. On paper this defense should be top 10... on paper. But anything below top 14 he needs to be gone. Aaron Glenn is well liked and respected in the locker room i feel the players are gonna ball out for him. Heres a question for everyone who do yall want as a defensive cordinator?

I don’t get most of you ppl who want AGs head. On one hand you’ll take shots at BH for the lack of talent in defense and on the other blame AG for the poor defense which was top 5 against the run last year. Meanwhile Ben Johnson has talent all over the place on the offensive side of the ball yet all too often the offense was horrible in the 3rd quarter. Make it make sense.
I want to be I would want to see as much as we put into the defense. I need to see top 10 defense this year or Aaron Glen needs to be dispatched immediately.
Glen is a friend and the guy was getting fake looks for head coaching jobs which means nothing but lets be honest our opinions mean nothing just like those Rooney rule interviews of him
AG and field goal kicker biggest weakness for this team. Either or both could blow our chances this year. I’m not so hopeful about AG. He always had an excuse and some of our worst defensive outings also had awful offensive issues (fumbles and interceptions) and he was able to skate under the radar. It’s his attitude and DCs unwavering faith that make me question there will be accountability. Finally is AG smart enough to work with all this new talent?
You always talking ish about Glenn I guess out of needing content.We were ranked that high in run defense because everybody threw the ball 🏈 on us there wasn’t as many run attempts against us. If the lions organization listened to your delusional takes they would laugh 😂 the run defense was stout because the corners aggressively would come up to help leaving them susceptible to the pass!!Listen if Glenn was garbage like you allege he would have been gone.To many coaches and front office people who know the game comment about him being an excellent coach so I will defer to them and not you.Phil Jackson Bill Parcells considered great coaches why?The main reason you have to have the players at some point these players have to perform and do there job period!!!
The only reason AG has not been fired is because he is friends with Dan Campbell. AG does not have the experience to run a successful NFL defense. His schemes are outdated , he does not put the players in the best position to utilize their skills, he is petty and stubborn.
Personnel decisions are under the GM and he's going to need to take some responsibility if Aaron Glenn can't get it done. But Detroit will give him two more years to develop the players he wanted and suffer greatly for it
Yes Derrick, i believe the AG has zero excuses this year. In my opinion he should have been fired a long time ago. We got rid of two defensive back coaches, and what's the common denominator for both of them??? Aaron FRICKEN Glenn!! Brad Holmes has done enough for him this year so if he doesn't produce results I want him gone!!! I want a top 10 defense this year, if not then bye bye Glenn!

I know we have been top 5 offense for 2 years now and our defense has been bottom 10 past 2 years. News flash everyone, defense lost the NFC championship game. I am so sick of ppl giving this dude a free pass and blaming the offense in particular JG. Your opinion does not reflect reality. Facts don’t care about your feelings and your version of truth.
