11:30 While I was in London for a day. I remember wearing a pair of £90, reduced from £180 pair of black Barker brogue shoes. I had some compliments on them, primarily because the mirror shine on black brogues look more expensive then it actually is. This was on Jeremyn street which is always fun for a quick stroll.

Nice fantasy shoe collection! I particularly like the Gazinano & Gurling. However, I would not recommend the C & J Tetbury, to be honest. While it has a nice slim fit and pleasing aesthetics, it eats laces. The lacing system, anchored in just two holes on either side, will always slip and you would definetely need a double knot, preferably the Berluti. Also, a lot of wrinkles will develop on the vamp area. Using good quality shoe trees is not adequate to prevent this from happening. The dainite sole feels kind of chunky on the Tetbury and is not as comfortable as a single or double leather sole. I like dainite soles for their durability and practicality and they serve me very well on my collection of sturdier Tricker's shoes and boots but on this chukka the balance is off. In hindsight, I would prefer the C & J Chelsea 8 with the thinner City Rubber Sole,. But I like James Bond, who wore the Tetbury in Skyfall, so there you are. :-)

My choice for top quality shoes are mecchariello, although I have only had the budget for one pair so far. Their website is clunky, but their shoes are just wonderful, and generally cheaper than similar uk brands. TLB are my second choice, quality price ratio can't be beaten.

It's just something i have never really thought of, £10k just on shoes. I will give my 'Original' Dream collection, back when I done some pretty hard research on brands to at least think about (when I had some exposable income before the pandemic), a pair of John Lobb Black Oxfords £1k, a pair of Brown Crockett & Jones Islay Boots £500, Tan Loake Sutherland Brogues £250 and a pair of Loake Godwood Drivers/Summer Shoe £100, The remainder £8k or so, get a pretty good Rolex Explorer for that ;)

I also own the CJ hand grade whole cut Weymouth 2 in dark brown with leather sole and two pairs of CJ Alex whole cut in mid brown and black. My last pair is a CJ Chelsea boot in rough-out dark brown suede with dainite sole. For me Crockett and Jones all the way.

I’m still not comfortable wearing dress shoes here, but here’s my collection; Crocket and Jones (C&J) rough out suede Chukka $650, C&J black Conistone rough-out boots $700., C&J Slye in shell cordovan boot $1.200, RM-Williams Signature craftsman Chelsea $900, Carmina Balmoral Oxford boot in tan $700, and my most recent Allen Edmonds Hamilton oxford boot in Chilly $350 on special, on a side note one RUclipsr I would like you to do a collaboration maybe a livestream with is The British Dapper and Ignoreatyourperil Nigel Cleaver it would be interesting to see an episode like that imo.

To be honest. A very interesting but also difficult situation to cope with.
In my mind I‘d go with multiple „icons“ of several brands depending obviously of sizing.
    1. Alden LHS Loafer
    2. Edward Green Dover
    3. Edward Green Galway
    4. Gaziano & Girling St. James
    5. Crockett & Jones Belgrave
    6. Crockett & Jones Tetbury
    7. Crockett & Jones Waymouth
    8. John Lobb William
    9. John Lobb St. James or City

    • @racheengel8970

I've brought $20 (£10) shoes in the past _(for over 30 years wearing them),_ I have stopped wearing _cheap_ shoes because they don't _most of them_ don't have proper or no arch support, unless one buys an insert with arch support!
I like quality shoes like *Loake or John Lobb* shoes for Loake *200B* $470 _(NZ)_ as I have found quality shoes £205 ($500) are far suited for 90% of people!

Ash that selection’s a little out of my price range though I am hopeful for a pair of Cheaney chukka boots for next winter.
Might I also suggest you add a pair of handmade sneakers from Crown Northampton. I have a pair and they’re lovely for casual/holiday wear. With each style you can choose the sole colour from black, brown or white which can really make them stand out from the sneaker crowd and they’re highly regarded by American RUclips content makers (which is how I found them😂).

Feel the exact same way about cap toe oxfords. For me, it’s a semi or quarter brogue at a minimum. I’m not concerned with their “appropriateness” in a situation as outside of formal wear they serve the purpose with a bit of character.

if I was going to spend loads of money on shoes and clothes, I'd do it outside the UK. I don't think you get charged VAT on imports of luxury goods. Pretty sure that's the reason why Paris is better for luxury compared against London.

  • @RaoulKunz1

My what a dreadful choice this would be😉!
I'd probably spent the money on getting several additional lasts made and a veritable ton of uppers and then lock myself up in the workshop for a week🤣.
I'd probably go nuts in the process and ruin at least one set of uppers in some insanely stupid experiment like adding a super-duper-ultra-fancy medallion to ruin an austerity brogue... or modifying a last into some nutty shape which I *thought* would look elegant.
But your choices are stunning, I really like the art-deco-esque lines of the austerity brogue though I feel the Chukkas are a bit *too* far down the sleekness route for my taste - maybe a bit too "Bauhaus" in mentality - but that would be *my taste* - so relevance is zero^^.
Of course everyone who's been a follower for a while was expecting the quarter brogue but there's nothing to say about it: it's awesome period.
Calfskin is always (aww well, "always" - I only rarely get to work with it actually) a *pleasure* to work with... helps that is also looks great!
And of course the "sexy shoe" works... with Gaziano & Girling it's hard to get anything wrong anyway (I suppose) but this one is really super sexy, you're right!
The toe cap alone is a looker!
For me this would *probably* be a variation of the cores...erm... "spectator" (phew) shoe, probably some variation of burgundy or oxblood with off-white as a contrasting option.
(I really need to do one in cheap material at some point to actually see if it looks as nice as I think it would...)
And the Trafalgar boot is... surprisingly dapper actually - I'm a somewhat urban (moderately so, but yeah) bloke and almost never need truly winter boots, my current ones are actually full derby half boots, so not all that wintery... I generally don't like the chunky Vibram soles (they actually have a ton of soles and half-soles and heels but this often-copied pattern really is the most common and I see it all the time, heck, we have a whole drawer full of those in every size and then some...), but that's just me having to work with them on *really anything* all too often for my taste - I'd probably grind down the profile and replace it with something a little more subtle (and thus lessening the utility...🤣).
Great choices altogether and aside from being a phantasy also actually offering some inspiring notions!
    Thank you!
    Best regards
    Raoul G. Kunz

I have never been a fan of the whole cut style on account of the creasing which is unpredictable on a shoe without any adornments. They look great when shined and unworn, but after a week of wear they look very different.
