I was sure Luther Vandross would make the list. Everytime I hear 'A House is Not a Home', I cannot help but note how melodically unique his voice was. No one else sounded then or sounds now like him. But Eric, I think you should have been there too! You had me laughing with your David Bowie voice because you sounded just like him! You always either make me smile with your singing or laugh at your comedic side. You are amazing!❤
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 WOW! If you have not seen the movie Elvis directed by Tom Hanks with the actor Austin Butler please consider watching it. Happy Holy Day’s and Happy New Year!
10. David Holister 9. Teddy Pendergrass 8. Johnny Carter (The Mighty Dells/The Flamingos) 7. Glenn Jones 6. Phil Perry 6. Phillip Bailey 5. Luther Vandross 4. Stevie Wonder 3. Donnie Hathaway 2. Sam Cooke 1. Nat King Cole
@rjs1602 Wow, t.y. I was kinda wondering if anyone saw this. It was another kool idea from Mr. Benet. I think that he should be an executive producer of a show that showcases up and coming artist who can potentially bring back true singers who can re-establish and continue the incredible legacy that aforementioned artist have done. Eric is an amazing example of that himself. I am a singer, myself, and this is a small sample of the singers who's songs that I have compiled, on a couple of playlists, for my own, friends and family pastime enjoyment. Btw, another type list that I have compiled is a corresponding karaoke-instrumental and background playlist that I practice singing to. It's a side "interest" or hobby of mine that I've been doing for years. Eric Benet is on there for his song titled: "Love of My Own"... That's a masterpiece, to me. He's an amazing artist, writer and producer, so I am glad that he is showing how much he loves his craft and supports other who did it before him. One other thing, I meant to add Howard Hewett to the list, tied in 7th and Marvin Gaye tied in 5th place with Luther. Peace...Happy holidays.
@EboliKnight I know.....If anybody compiled a list, another one would submit a legit claim of another "g.o.a.t." being omitted and I understand that. I thought of Peabo Bryson, who sang "A Whole New World" with Regina Bell and Billy Ocean who sang "Suddenly" and Brian McKnight, AL Green, George Benson, etc and they ALL are great, but Eric gave instructions to have only 10.
Al Jarreau, Frankie Beverly,Ron Isley, Bobby and El DeBarge ,Barry White, James Ingram , JohnnyWilder, ALL THE TEMPTATIONS ESPECIALLY DAVID RUFFIN…The list is WAY TOO MANY TO MENTION ❤
Michael Marvin Gaye Prince Elvis Elton John George Michael David Bowie Freddie Mercury Steve Perry John Lennon No I'm just voicing my opinion in this whole thing Remember as you said only on the vocals When it comes to the singer-songwriter 🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵 Prince Rogers Nelson Marvin Gaye Michael Jackson John Lennon Remember somebody's going to read this and if you did not choose the people that they think that you should have chosen Good luck with that Buddy 🫡 Remember I'm just a simple lady that Sings But you're the Main Artist🤭 Just saying ❗ They're going Side Eye you first😏 🤣🤣😂😅🤣😂 Just keeping it 💯 ❤ Ya TAKE CARE YOLANDA In In M
I got Mike #1, too, yo... Stevie Wonder 2nd Sam Cooke 3rd Donny Hathaway the 4th Marvin Gaye 5th Bobby Mcferrin 6 Luther Vandross at 7 God Father of Soul at 8 Freddie Mercury at 9 James Taylor is 10 Honorable mentions: Kurt Cobain and Tim Storms... For me...
Luther, Peabo Bryson, Jeffrey Osborne, Anthony Hamilton, Dennis Brown, Luke James, Eric Benet, Johnny Guitar Watson, Bobby Womack, Melvin Edmonds. No particular order except Luther is Numero Uno.Honorable Mentions: Alexander O'Neal, Johnny Mathis and Stevie Wonder. And yes I know my choices are hella random.
If you’re talking vocals ya gotta throw Keith Washington in there!! Dude NEVER makes anybody’s list but how that guy never became a megastar is an absolute mystery to me.
My list: TOP 10: 1()Freddie Mercury, 2:MICHAEL JACKSON 3:MARVIN GAYE 4:George Michael 5: TEDDY PENDERGRASS 6:STEVE PERRY 7:PHILLIP BAILEY 8:Sam Cooke 9:Elton John 10:Andrea Bocelli
2024, My only disagreement is Marvin Gaye number one Michael Jackson number two. "My opinion." If you decide to do females number one singer. Rochelle Farrell, who sings in seven octaves. ♥️
Eric you are absolutely right, your choices are so wrong! Michael is not the goat of singing (though anazing), he is the goat of entertaining. Luther should be at the top of that list. George Michael should be near the top!
Who voted on this? ALL AROUND (ESPECIALLY FALSETTO)-ERIC BENET' 1) Aretha Franklin, 2) Stevie Wonder 3) Marvin Gaye, 4) David Ruffin, 5) Etta James 6) Johnny Gill 7) Chaka Khan 8) Michael Jackson 9) Fantasia Borino 10) Jennifer Hudson It's impossible to rank Black singers because they all have their own unique styles. There are no white singers in my opinion who can come near this list.
It we are basing it just on vocal ability. Just as how good of a pure singer a person is Brian McKnight sing better than everyone on that list even Michael and im a huge mj fan. K ci Hailey, Kevon Edmonds, Sisqo. A lot of people out there are better pure singers but just not as big as them. I think that list was just based off artist they liked. Sam Cooke. tooo many great male vocalist to name.
MJ is not a #1. He couldn't sing the phone book like Marvin could. You overlooked some classics - like Sinatra and Michael Buble. And what about good old R&B and blues like Otis Redding and David Ruffin, Dennis Edwards (great R&B), Teddy Pendergrass.
I'm sorry, but Elton John is hella basic. He ain't got no flavor. Basically, the white singers on this list are boring. Nah, Prince Rogers Nelson...whew! He doesn't get enough credit for his ballads. I love what he did on gems like _Insatiable, The One, One Kiss at a Time_ and _Scandalous._
Ahhh I wish they had Sam Cooke, Otis Redding, or Donny Hathaway on this list!
Sam #1
Me too including luther vandross, phillip Bailey kem and eric benet
Sam Cooke- right up there with Marvin Gaye. Exceeds MJ! ❤love em all. These comments gonna make me play some Luther 😂
YES! The Heavyweights. Don’t forget David Ruffin.
S Wonder

Okay I think I like yo selection Eric 💯💯
I'm surprised Luther Vandross, Philip Biley, and James Ingram didn't make the list.
Exactly I agree
Yeah! Whew. But, you know we must be politically correct. I mean come on Same Cook, David Ruffin, we could on for days with this one.
I meant Mr. Sam Cook.😁
I meant Mr. Sam Cooke!🎼🎶🎊🎆😎
And Don't Forget James Brown 👑.. That Soul Voice.
This list is incomplete without Philip Bailey, Ron Isley, Luther, Teddy, and Alex O'Neal 🎶 🤗

I almost had it match for match. Marvin at 1 for me
You should be in the top 😘

Ha ha ha 🎉🎉🎉
Soul artist like M Gaye is pushing the soul when he sings, from the anglo saxons l think David Bowie, Jon B. that almost do that but the rest...
2024, My only disagreement is Marvin Gaye number one Michael Jackson number two. "My opinion." If you decide to do females number one singer. Rochelle Farrell, who sings in seven octaves. ♥️
I miss seeing Rachelle Ferrell perform😔
Lollll
Eric you are absolutely right, your choices are so wrong! Michael is not the goat of singing (though anazing), he is the goat of entertaining. Luther should be at the top of that list. George Michael should be near the top!
No Donny Hathaway or Barry White?
😂😂😂
I can't believe stevy wonder teddy Pendergrass Michael Mcdonald wasn't on the list?
Elvis shouldn’t be on list. Maybe if top 20, I’d put him at 15. John Lennon is not a top 10 pick
Marvin 1
Donnie Hatthway????
Mercury is one
Karsimda Kemal Sunal'i görüyorum sanki :)
Any list that doesn't have Marvin Gaye at 1 or 2 is not legitimate.
Jesse Powell ,
😂
Elvis 😂😂😂😂😂
So why did You leave Yourself out?You should be no.2😊,hello!

You should've at least put yourself in the 3 or 4 spot!

Prince and Michael need to switch places
I don't agree with any of these.
