Thank you. Simple straightforward video. Very helpful. I just bought a simrad cruise 5. Setting up the transducer and the echo screen says “paused”. No idea why as all brand new out of the box. Any hints much appreciated.
Glad you enjoyed the video. That sometimes that "paused" screen can happen out of the box so don't think you have a defective unit. Just do a reset to factory settings and you should be good to go. Thanks.
It will not work with any transducer. You can call the tech support number at 800-628-4487 to see if your transducer will work or could be adapted to work.
Wrong. First, it comes with a transom mount transducer. Simrad tech support recommended the thru-hull transducer that I bought (XSonic B150), but it does need an adapter plug to fit the Cruise.
You are correct. I was not clear in my answer. I was trying to say that not all transducers (from Simrad and from other manufacturers) can be adapted to work with the Cruise. I'm Glad Simrad Tech support was able to get you the information you needed.
If you get the 94sv it should have charts that cover coastal Alaska preloaded (covers all of US coastal waters according to their site). You can update and add cartography by going to the Garmin site and purchasing updates if desired.
I believe the extension cable is part number 000-14414-001. You can find it here: www.simrad-yachting.com/simrad/type/accessories/cables-connectors/hook2-tripleshotsplitshot-10-ft-ext-cbl/
Most people find the pre-loaded charts work well for them and don't need to add other cartography. You could add the G-Chart Vision cards to give the chart plotter in unit dock- to-dock auto routing. My suggestion is to try out the charts that are preloaded and then decide if you want the added features of the Vision card. If you do decide to add cartography make sure they will work in your machine. There are a lot of varieties out there and only a few will work. Enjoy!

The supplied transducer can be epoxied inside the hull if it is not foam core, over an inch thick, is not metal, and if there are no air pockets. It is a good idea to test the location with a ziplock bag filled with water and press the transducer into the bag while on the water to check for an accurate reading. If it works, then attach the transducer using epoxy and not a silicone or other "soft" sealant.
From my experience with a properly mounted transducer you should get decent resolution down to about 200 feet in saltwater with readings going down to a max of about 400-600 feet.
These units come with all of the US Coastal mapping built in. It does have an SD card reader that can be used for optional mapping, but it has limitations. Large mapping cards can cause the processor to run slow, and it will not run a lot of the 3rd party enhanced mapping cards.
What kind of boat are you planning to put this on?
i puy mine on a 17ft skeeter ..nice lil machine ..
@@martellnelson6962 Great boat and it will work and look great on that Skeeter!

@@Salty_004 Nice! Great boat. It is the do anything tank of a boat.

Hello thanks for the video.
Did you had to install the transducer cable to get depth. Im checking mine out of the water and it’s not reading
I’m pretty sure you do need to install the transducer for the depth
Does this keep a track of your past routes on the screen? I like this function.
It does. It will display previous and current tracks.
Wondering if the maps include Alaska? Anyway to update the maps? Thanks for the help!!

Works great on my hunting fourwheeler
Just purchased a Cruise 9. I need a 10’ transducer extension. Any help would be appreciated.

@@AquaLifestyle Thank you! Got one on the way.
Are the built in maps sufficient for coastal areas or would you recommend adding the Navionics+? Thanks

@@AquaLifestyle Can you use dock to dock autorouting with a Navionics card inserted in a Simrad 5 cruise?
@@Huckvoglenest I don't believe that Navionics Dock to Dock auto routing is available on the Simrad Cruise line of displays.
West Marine has a 5 inch display on sale!

What depth will the transducer register

Does this unit come with the sd card for gulf coast of texas?

What would I need to buy for operating in Canada?
Does it have side scan?
The Cruise line of multi function displays do not have side scan.
depth is not showing on ours
Same here any suggestions
Make sure is plugged in well in the back of the unit. I had the same problem with mine until I checked.
