Saw this one a cpuple weeks ago, and I dug it for the most part. Kinda felt like it maybe would've worked a little better as an actual documentary, but some of the scenes were pretty powerful. Great review, Andrew!

Yeah Man, I got the same vibe as well about it working as a documentary. I think there is something to be said for having no expectations for a movie. It allows me to just appreciate it for what it is rather than what I was hoping it would be. Cheers Sully.

As always, great review, Andrew! I didn't hear of this one either, to be honest. Your review hit on good points that made it sound interesting and worth checking out. One question though: Did it feel like this was a politically-driven kind of movie? Or, did it feel more like it was a historical-retelling? I am very curious to get your deeper thoughts. -Dale

Yeah, with how polarized everything is right now politically, I could definitely see certain people feeling like it is political. I mean one of the clips is Nick Offerman wearing a MAGA hat. But, the film doesn’t do the predictable thing in that scene of alienating people on the right. I personally felt like the film was trying to show why historically people have oppressed other people. Thinking that everything and everyone is racist is definitely not a conclusion in the film. It’s more about how the caste system in any part of the world is about putting people into a social hierarchy. The film never made me feel bad for being white, and it never felt like it was preaching at me.
This film reminded me of sound of freedom, in the sense that it was something that wasn’t on my radar, that I ended up really enjoying.

@@LonelyGuyLovesMovies Thanks! That really peels back the movie onion some and shows the heartbeat of the film. Citing it as one of the movies (Sound of Freedom) I suggested you see, really took it home. I hear you loud and clear on that one, for sure! Thank you for getting back, Andrew! 🙂

"Caste Is a Boring Topic"- says the White Reviewer....Rich

“Caste may sound like a boring topic,” is what I actually said. If you watched the whole review and that was all you gleaned, you entirely missed the point. People who may think of caste as a boring topic are the very people who I was encouraging to see the film.
One of the conclusions of the film is for us as a new generation to do better now that we know better. Trashing someone who is trying to put out that message isn’t really helping anyone and only further perpetuates division. - White Reviewer
