Best is 17mpg. Worst is around 14.5 with a ton of hills. I haven't gone out west to CO or pulled up any mountains but I feel like 16mpg is about my average. The Tacoma rides around 2.1K RPM's going up hills and does quite a bit of down shifting, but keeps up. Flat ground I'm around 1.6 or 1.7K RPM's.
It's going to be interesting. I see a lot of hot nights in my future. I just purchased a USB powered fan for inside the Hiker. I'd really like some A/C before it gets hot....I just don't like all the solutions.
I do. I played in high school. I play at the 4.5 level with a group of friends here in St. Louis. I enjoy it and it keeps my beer belly from sticking out too much. I enjoy playing pickleball but haven't found a good group to play with so far. Thanks for watching.
Did the Skyline Drive and Blue Ridge Parkway on the back of my dad's motorcycle when I was in 7th grade (around 1987 or so).....that was an awesome trip. Even got to experience a thunderstorm at 6,000 feet while riding, that was a bit unnerving.
A t-storm at 6K..that would be a bit scary. I'm hopeful to have a good experience with the Hiker on the BRP. Hopefully I can find some campgrounds along the way. I hear it's tough sometimes....thanks for watching.
I have to chuckle about your "sixth sense" that people are watching you back in. They are! We've still not become experts at the task, so when someone pulls up to their campsite we take extra measures not to look or judge. Have a great summer!
For some reasons I love driving mountain passes. I found a website that listed all the mountain passes in CO and now I have a bucket list. I'm going to hit a couple of them on my way out to Yellowstone. Thanks for watching.
Hey there. We have the exact same model and we do not have any rattle on the spare. Are the bolts tight? I know that's probably the first thing you checked but I can't think of what else it would be.
Good idea. Yes, I checked the bolts. It seems to me the whole arm shakes down to the location where the arm welds to the frame. On my next outing I'm going to put a camera on it and send it to Hiker to see if they can figure it out. I'm hopeful it's not the wheels out of alignment or something like that. Thanks for watching.
Silver Mines is cool...close to St. Louis, so that is nice. If I remember some sites have electric at the bottom but only pit toilets and no showers. You will have a chance to test out your shower!
Yes! I didn't end up going this weekend because of the rain, but I might take off on Friday and head down Thursday night to do some camping this weekend. Thanks for watching!
We're hitting Yellowstone between family commitments and unfortunately will be there a month before you and the boys show up. I think we'll be at Great Smokey Mountain in late September for the RV Radio Fall Rally. Looks like we'll just miss you there, too!
Oh, what is the RV Radio Fall Rally? I might need to look that up. I can get to the SMNP in 8 hours from the house. Thanks for watching and thanks for the 6fer today!!! That must of been an awesome activation!
I grew up 15 minutes south of Monte Sano outside of Huntsville and now live about 40 minutes away on Lake Guntersville. You should try to make a day trip over to the lake if you get a chance. Also, I haven’t camped the tail of the dragon but I drove it a couple of times in our Chrysler Crossfire SRT-6 before we sold it. Very scenic area in a convertible. I’m leaving tomorrow for the pan handle of the Gulf of Mexico for about 10 days. Staying tomorrow night in Conecuh National Forest south of Andalusia, AL just to get a full day in Destin, FL when we check in Tuesday. Two nights in Destin, three nights on St George Island, one on St. Joes peninsula, and planning to finish with two nights in Panama City. All Florida state park campgrounds. If an extra night comes available around Destin, we may add on at the end if the weather looks good. I’m having a blast so far in the Hiker.
Just got back from Shenandoah and the Smokey Mountains. Stayed in Fontana Dam. I drove the Dragons tail three times. I’m not sure if I would do it with a trailer. It’s a big “rally” road with limited size pull offs. I drove it with a Tacoma and the pull offs barely fit the truck. I do love your videos. Very informative about purchasing a Hiker Trailer.
Awesome! Thank you for the feedback and the info. I'd probably not take the trailer on the dragon but that's really good info about the pulloffs and the size of them. Hikers are great! Maybe not the best, but the best bang for the buck. Glad you finding the videos informative. More to come!!!!
@@squaredropadventures Yeah I wouldn't take the Hiker down the Tail of the Dragon/ Deals Gap, It will be filled with Motorcycles at that time of the year and has some tightish corners. I haven't been down it in years, but there are not many spots if you need to pullover for some reason, and no guard rails. very fun ride on a motorcycle though.
Put your best SUMMER TRAVEL PLANS below in the comments!
Hope you enjoyed beechfork there in WV
What kind of mileage are you getting with the Tacoma while pulling the Hiker?

We’re picking up our Hiker in CO in a few weeks. Snagged a campsite for Yosemite in July, can’t wait!
Awesome! Yosemite is on my list. Maybe next year I'll get out to CA. It's pretty county out there.
I’m getting mixed reviews about towing a Hiker on the Beartooth Highway. Are you hearing any encouraging tips?
I haven't, but I have seen videos of 35+ foot RVs using the beartooth. I don't think it's a problem.
Dang dude! Great to have a calendar full of things to look forward to! Great update, thx.
LOL! I didn't mean for it to be like that. It just happened.....
I can’t live without my trailer AC. I’m interested to see how you do.

Wow6. That sounds like a great trip. I'll get down to FL soon, maybe this winter. I'll take a look at the lake down in AL.

The road was just paved and they did a great job. Driving it was great. You see some really cool cars. Enjoy your trip.

Thanks!
Great update. Thanks Kyle. Can't make it to Huntsville this year. Maybe next year.
That sucks. It was good to see you at Huntsville last year. Like you said, maybe next year. Thanks Don.
