Love the long episodes!!! Please keep them as long as possible! Speaking to the Ballerina Farm discussion - my mom and I were featured in a small town newspaper for a county craft fair we attended. The news paper journalist interviewed us and even recorded our statements, yet when the article came out, so much if it was untrue! He even had “quotes” from us of things we NEVER said! None of it made us look bad like with the Ballerina Farm scenario, but it just really showed me that you cannot 100% trust anything that is published by anyone. Not even things that are “directly quoted” because it may not have even been said. Just wanted to throw my two cents into the conversation!
The conversation about Ballerina Farm also reminds me that social media and the world of influencers are highly if not entirely motivated by capitalism. Whether conscious or not, businesses, brands, and people are trying to sell a story to as many who will listen. I hope there is a stronger emphasis on media literacy in the future, people need to be educated on how to consume media responsibly.
Hi girlies love the pod!! Day 1 listener here. I don't think it's that we don't love the life updates, I think it's just that the titles are usually about the content of the story reads, but when it comes to story eps we get about 20 minutes of story content to 40 minutes of life updates and chat. I wonder if it would be better if story eps have shorter intros, or a title change? Either way, still always a huge fan of every episode regardless!!
The other day I saw a video of a 20 year old criticizing photos of herself when she was ELEVEN years old, she was talking down about her teeth and hair and clothes, etc etc etc and it was so sad bc she literally just looked like a normal eleven year old girl. It’s crazy how social media sets expectations for CHILDREN to look glamorous and put together…. It seems “normal” to have these thoughts as grown women (it’s not), but CHILDREN?? So sad 😢
I absolutely love the life stories! Maybe if you have your podcasts where people write in you could put in the show notes the time where that part starts if they wanna skip the updates. Just a thought to help please everyone lol

The Ballerina Farm, Nara Smith, influencer issue really centers on the fact that with influencers, people fail to separate the person from the Brand. This is an issue with media literacy. I know as a woman in my 30s with a traditional job and an extremely normal life that when I am watching Nara that there's a lot more going on behind the scenes for the Brand of Nara Smith, but there are young women who may not see that what's on camera is not real life and it's not Nara Smith's real life either. She's working when she's on camera, and portraying a character for her Brand that is not the actual real person of Nara. Same with Ballerina Farm--it is a literal company with elements of real life and not actual real life that Hannah and her husband and children experience every day.
