If you skip all the hidden tasks and speedrun directly, you'll end up with the worst ending-you'll collect all of the Great Sage's equipment and relics, and after defeating the Great Sage's remains in the final level, you'll wear the Golden Hoop and become the new Great Sage.
The speedrun bad ending is a metaphor. The journey to obtain the scriptures is more important than the scriptures themselves. The Great Sage remains sealed in stone because he lacks the essence of intention, which serves as a message to those who use cheats and those who speedrun just for the sake of it. By missing the true purpose of the game, the Great Sage in your heart remains sealed in stone, and the character you play as-the destined one-ends up putting on the Golden Hoop, becoming a disciple of Buddha, controlled by the rules and the Golden Hoop, awaiting the next destined one to continue this cycle.

Yes, this is a bad ending, which means that the character played by the player did not truly become Sun Wukong. Instead, after going through a series of challenges and battles, it is ultimately revealed to be a substitute or a manipulated existence. In this ending, the person of destiny (the player's character) puts on Sun Wukong's golden hoop, replacing the real Sun Wukong and entering a new cycle of reincarnation. This ending implies a fatalistic view that no matter how hard the player tries, they cannot escape the predetermined fate in the end.This game has at least more than three endings, and I have already seen videos of two of the endings.
About the intro:
After WuKong got his Buddhahood, he still did not want to be restrained. So after Tang Monk returned to the east, he resigned from the Buddha's position and wanted to return to Huaguo Mountain to live a carefree life. However, he was suspected by the Heavenly Court. ErlangShen (the 3 eye guy), the Four Heavenly Kings, and the Giant Spirit led the heavenly soldiers and generals to attack Huaguo Mountain again. When Wukong and ErlangShen fought fiercely, the Tightening Curse that had disappeared appeared again. Wukong was defeated by ErlangShen and died. His soul turned into a huge stone and his remains turned into 6 spiritual objects, corresponding to the six roots, scattered in the world. Many years later in 2024, the player, who plays the role of the destined one, embarked on a journey to find the lost spiritual objects, rescue and resurrect Wukong.
About the ending:
First, before the destined one made the choice of whether to wear the golden hoop or not, Wukong did not impose his will to resist on him. He hoped that the man of destiny would have the freedom to choose. Even if the destined one chose to wear the golden hoop (the general ending for many players), Wukong could not interfere; but when the destined one chose not to wear it, he would see the truth before Wukong's death and inherit the will to resist.
Second, as a monkey made by heaven and earth, Wukong has no father or mother, escaped the cycle of life and death, and should have no constraints or worries. But after grew up and traveled west, he had grandchildren to protect, as well as a master and younger brothers. These became his weaknesses, and were also used by heaven to take advantage of him. In other words, the golden hoop of the Great Sage was not only put on by the Buddha, but also by himself. And as the 3-eye erlangshen in the intro once said, once the golden hoop is put on, it cannot be taken off. So Wukong used his own death as a bet in exchange for a chance to start over. Then another fatherless and motherless stone monkey (the destined one) appeared, and this time he had no scruples and no constraints, just like in the end of the animation, he turned around and left behind only a mess but no worries, he could freely trample through the sky. People in reality are the same, everyone wears a golden hoop, but still misses the unrestrained Monkey King.
The game is actually a discussion of philosophy, Buddhism, and Taoism. The destined one is each of us. We are all looking for our six senses, that have been scattered everywhere. Those monsters (Guai) are our human nature: greed, anger, ignorance, arrogance, and doubt. The three stages of life: we come to the world, we see the world and all living beings, and we see ourselves. We all have to go through the 81 difficulties in lifetime. Just like the game, our life is to pass one level after another. In the end, we get to see our true nature. Only by seeing the true nature, we can see the Tathagata, and the true self. Finally, if you row the boat to the other shore, you must let it stay, so those who want to reach this side could use the boat, and this is the boat of Prajna.

How to unlock the true ending :
1. Unlock four hidden maps: Old Guanyin Temple, Sand Country, Ziyun Mountain, and Bishui Cave
2. Collect all three artifacts in the Mandrill Buddha Head branch in Chapters 2, 3, 4, and 5
3. Defeat the clapping stone man in Huaguo Mountain, then defeat the giant BOSS on the path opposite the Water Curtain Cave and get the last artifact.
4. Return to the Little Western Heaven Pagoda, where Maitreya Buddha will open a new map for you.

actually the destined one is actually the 1/6 peices of wukong himself and by collecting the other 5 peices and fuse with it since he is the 6th

@@jeffpen4622 Wukong is dead in all the ending, he is not even dead at the ending but they confirm he is dead briefly before the ending, so the ending you get doesn't matter. The main difference between the endings is whether or not you put on Wukong's cursed headband. It's the last piece of his garb you have to collect. You get each piece by killing bosses in the last chapter, but the final piece you get from killing the final boss. In the true ending you defeat the boss but then don't put on the headband, meaning you would be more powerful than the original Wukong himself as the headband is cursed.

16:20 as a kid i watched the story many times and this part was interesting, knowing either he wasn't granted Buddhahood or he died, that's like telling you santa doesn't exist. FYI, the crown was a way to control Wukong, he can't remove it and Monk Tang would sing a song that would make the crown shrink and inflict pain in his head when the wouldn't behave so I think he REALLY hated that crown.
Even if Wukong didn't attend Buddhahood he is immortal. He shouldn't have been killed in the game. Either the developer doesn't know the lore and made a blunder or there will be a next part.

I'm very sure, all this time the one who was looking for the Wukong artifact was one of his feathers that was removed before he actually fell asleep. Therefore, every Wukong artifact is always active when touched by the character being played. I'm sure that in the next game, who knows when it will be released, Wukong's fur will return to its original owner and Wukong will return and defy the sky.
No this ending is for the people that use cheat code, it is a punishment from the game for using cheat code! Those who use it will also skip many bosses! One of the good ending for player that actually play through the game is wukong came back and fight the god with extra eye on the forhead and four other god! There is click for the ending in China already

as far as I know, this game has two ending. This is the first one and also can be called the bad ending, cause player inherits the golden hoop which suggests that he will end up like Sun Wukong, being controlled by the Heavenly Court and Buddha, ultimately losing his freedom. In the good ending, the player will inherits the will of freedom from Wukong, refusing the golden hoop. And you will have an amazing animation video in the end

But the Samsara itself needs Wukong as the personification of resistance against order, it's like the Yin for the Yang.
Wukong existence is needed to keep the balance in check in the universe. that's why someone else needed to becomes another Wukong. Since the original Wukong already ascended into the Buddhahood, someone else will bear the Wukong's earthly idea.
My assumption, the Wukong that we've seen in the beginning of the game also non original Wukong, he's just another choosen one that inherited Wukong's idea. That's explained why Erlang and heaven's order antagonizing him aggressively, because this Wukong is the threat for the heaven.

If you see the gold trophies earned by power pyx he has earned the one for the stone monkey final boss but there is another called Meet the Match that shows a crown with 3 eyes so it's a safe bet that there is a true ending .. also the scene with the 4 kings from the trailer doesn't happen in the prologue so that's that

There are 2 BIG unkown details: Who was the one who chanted the Golden Headband Spell on Sun Wukong when fighting Erlang Shen? The Heavenly Court seems to be the main antagonist in this game, but we haven't seen them yet. It could possibly be linked to the Buddha on a darker and deeper level. Hopefully, everything will be clarified in the DLC or there will be a sequel.
if i am not wrong it's buddha himself who put the headband on wukong so that the master can control wukong.

In this story, pretty sure Guanyin was on heaven side,she is the one who read the chant. She also makes the red boy betray his father. Also the story hinted that Tang monk was dead at this time. He died left his three students, one is dead ( wukong) and other two became fugitives. We know Bajie also quit heaven like wukong but the fate of Sha Wujin is unknown.
Just my guess, after the Tang monk passed,his three students lost their trust in heaven and decided to leave. Heaven sees that as a threat to their authority and go all out to punish them and who connects to them
Besides the fact that the original story answers those questions, the game itself will likely answer them if you achieve a better ending.

This English version doesn’t have background music. The music is the soul of this Wukong legend. This version is lacked of soul. Even you are English speaking I strongly recommend you to watch Chinese version of this clip. You will feel the soul even without understanding what they say in Chinese.

So from what I understand we only found two endings so far which is good and bad ending. In the bad ending he did not receive the original wukong's memories and therefore didn't snap back in time to reject wearing the headband like he planned to when he scattered himself. The other ending is considered the "good" ending because its assumed he regains his memories and rejects the headband and continue to wage war against heaven after toasting to his past comrades.
Hope it’s just open for a secuel, cause if the studio perfect this game (the gameplay and the story) it would definitely be a GOTY

From what i heard, this is suppose to be the bad ending. The bad ending ends up with the monkey you play as taking wukongs role and becoming a slave to the gods. You get this ending if you skip all the side bosses and speed run it. The real ending is when u dont skip everything

The golden hoop represents rules. This will be the outcome if one uses cheats to only defeat the BOSS all the way through. Putting the golden hoop on the monkey again expresses that even if one achieves results by using irregular means, it will be a waste of effort in the end as nothing can escape the constraints of the rules.
