    Nice finds! I'm SURPRIZED how much you know about old things.. You don't find younger people that well rounded much anymore. Thanks again for the hunt!

      Thanks John! Learned alot through this hobby, I always try to not over speak and say more than I know about an object so some of the finds remain ambiguous

    Dave, great video and finds! Your mystery latch is from an old tape measure. That's the handle to reel the tape back in. That's what was wrapped around it when you first dug it up. The copper band was the outer housing of the tape measure.

    • @DTdigs
      @DTdigs  2 года назад

      aaaaah good catch man! I've used that variety of tape measure before and that didn't click with me til just now. Another good reason for me to keep making these episodes lol thanks for the heads up!

    Yup, 100% 1600s kettle points. The one in my video intros is my nicest one, and it's got a very similar shape to your 4. Not all kettle points have holes, in fact 2 of my other ones don't. I think you're right about the quiver theory, and that's a hell of a find! Also, that round lead piece is interesting because I found a similar piece near my nicest kettle point, and I was told by someone who hunts for trade relics all the time that he only finds those lead discs on trade sites. They're labeled as whizzers (despite having only one hole), and he enthusiastically told me that it belongs with my kettle point display! So, keep that piece aside, it's a special one.

    IHP Hill is an excellent site. Thank you for the laugh with what we see on camera and don't see on camera when detecting in the woods. I can do relate to what we don't see. Some of the spots we go through just to detect a small area of dirt is crazy at times. 🤣 The Piece of Jewelry looks like a strawberry. Love the possible cuff link with the gold tint on it. Very ornate. I've found similar pieces like that but not as nice as yours. The other piece I'm pretty sure it's a garter piece. Where I'm at I've dug a lot of those with different Intitals. Some even have lice Chicago, Boston, New York on them. The Ones from Boston I've seen advertisements for men's socks to hold them up. Love the Coins. The Silver Canadian 5 Cent piece awesome. I dug a 1896 one about 5 years ago. Wasn't Silver though and in pretty rough shape. Take Care love the videos.

      Thanks Crazie! Yeah, I felt like someone needed to show the truth about woods detecting lol. Either cufflink or a clip on earring, that spot is amazing, really glad to have an awesome woods spot since all the open land has been frozen solid. Hope you've been getting out too, Happy hunting!

    Are these a common style of kettle points ? Reason I ask is that it seems like any examples I’ve seen it doesn’t take to much thought to realize they were originally purposed for something else the examples you show seem to almost be crafted specifically for the purpose of being an arrowhead and having
    No other former purpose

    • @DTdigs
      @DTdigs  2 года назад

      I agree, in the wrapup of the episode I put up examples of kettlepoints I found online that are extremely similar but there are many varieties out there. These are pretty finely crafted compared to some but have all of the defining qualities
