Just want to give a little shout out to something good that RUclips have done: after manual review, this video has been monetised and deemed as suitable for advertisers! This is the first pro-choice video I've made which has been monetised and I just want to say thank you to RUclips for that - not because of the money (that's still going to be in escrow because the LaBrant's network copyright claimed this video) but because it shows RUclips, as a platform, are supporting and not suppressing pro-choice, science-based content and content which supports the rights of women and afab people! This is fantastic to see and I am so happy about it!
As someone who is AFAB and Genderfluid and regularly experiences non-feminine genders, I just wanted to extend a wholesome thanks to you for recognizing this issue can effect people who don't identify as women. It means a lot to me.
pregnancy should be talked about more realistically and seriously. and not so romanticized. women come out of child birth traumatized from the lack of understanding to the costs of labor
no one tells us the truth! even other women after becoming mothers feel the need to continue the cycle and pretend its all rainbow and sunshines! when its horrifying! glad the labrants havent witnessed the horror of it but i wouldnt be surprised if eventually they did.
My brother was born with half a brain, lived for 2 years mostly in a hospital. Was in continuous pain, had between 100-150 seizures a day. Was unable to move, was blind, and did not live a life. The doctor was aware of the issue however never told my parents so they were unable to make the decision to have an abortion. In this case an abortion would have been more humane.
The statistically proven way to reduce the number of abortions is good sex education, easy access to birth control, and a supportive social provision for health care during pregnancy and post natal, plus support to feed the unplanned extra mouth in families on the poverty line or below it. Strange that all those against abortion are also against the things that are proven to reduce abortion levels.
@mnch statistics show that teaching abstinence only leads to lack of understanding, and younger ages of first sexual encounters, unplanned pregnancies etc. Maybe just face reality.
@mnch wow oh wow, so it is all due to women? You do know that teen boys are involved in teen pregnancies? And 100% of all pregnancies are caused by men. But yes if only women could give up sex...., as if it is solely their responsibility. Do you see women as just temptresses who want to get men into bed? Well wake up call, men are not that interesting, and neither is sex. If some men can't cope with encountering any women without feeling tempted sexually then they have a problem.
@mnch What do you mean "for woman"? Men and women are equally in this, you could ask the same thing from the men having sex with them. Just like for men, women also feel attraction and are also horny. Everyone but aroaces are looking for a partner instinctually, and everyone but asexuals get horny from time to time. It's not that hard to understand.
Former PP worker. We had a 13 year come in with her Mom. Both pregnant by abusive husband/father. It would be torture to force both to continue their pregnancies. We also helped both get into a shelter. I recommend watching “If These Walls Could Talk” about abortion rights.
@@pastaisyummy1110 This was years ago, but we helped them get into a shelter. People don’t realize all PP does. We also connected people to services for homeless or to help if they decided to keep babies.
thats disgusting. if pro lifers actually cared about human life they would know that having a pregnancy at 13 must be horrible! some people just have no empathy and cant see it from another persons pov
genuinely just reading this comment made me cry. wow. that’s such a horrific situation to be in. even though they both got abortions and weren’t forced to carry, that’s still gonna be a lifetime of trauma for the both of them.
My body isn’t right for pregnancy. I have a 7 year old son. During my pregnancy I was covered in over 250 open sores and abcesses all at one time due to my immune system. I was in so much pain as I couldn’t take my pain relief that I was suicidal. The labour and delivery was horrendous my body rejected the drugs and my child it was hell. Not to mention I developed sepsis whilst pregnancy I had a mental breakdown after everything. I’m doing everything I can to prevent getting pregnant again but if I accidentally did I would have to have an abortion no questions asked I just couldn’t do it again my body couldn’t cope I mentally wouldn’t cope and likely would commit suicide. I hate that people who are pro life don’t think about the pregnancy itself they just think about the outcome. I’m pro choice everyone has a right to their own sanity and body x
That is so much to go through. I’m so sorry. People that know that pregnancy isn’t good or healthy for them or something they can or want to do should not have to be pregnant. I hope your health is good now and best wishes for you and your family.
Exactly pregnancy and child birth are traumatic near death experiences. It pains you physically and mentally even in the best of circumstances. It is inhumane to force that upon someone
It seriously is nuts how people act like pregnancy is nothing to go thru. I had a healthy, uneventful pregnancy and it was still HARD. Your journey sounds almost unbearable, and I’m so glad you made it thru. I hope for all our sakes that we all can access the medical help we need when we need it.
exactly; im still a teen but my expected height as an adult would be no taller than 5’. If I got pregnant then I do no think I would have a good time :/
@@KrispyKitty66 one can never know. I know a woman who is very thin and short and all her 3 pregnancies were ok. And there are women who seem big and healthy and already had kids, and still get complications. It is hard to predict. That is what makes it scary
Not to mention some people may have tokophobia (morbid fear of childbirth and pregnancy), and some people have very narrow hips and would likely die without a C section. As someone who is both of these, I would rather die from an unsafe abortion than be forced to birth someone who would likely inherit my anxiety (and slightly unsavory looks)
@@GoroAkechi_Real and I am one of those anti-natalists for whom making new humans is unacceptable on many levels, so yeah I would do anything to end pregnancy as soon as possible. Jump from heights, starve myself, to induce miscarriage, anything. I am too misanthropic, perpetuating human species is unacceptable to me. It is a danger for life on Earth. For many people it will sound weird, but I don't care, I learned enough about history and human psychology, and everything only made me more sure
The most disgusting part about this (minus the part where they compare abortion to genocide) is the fact that they are showing this to their mainly child audience. Kids don’t know how to comprehend such topics, and will automatically assume that it’s bad. I first heard of abortion when I was 10, and I disagreed with it in all cases. Then I became a teenager and did the proper research and realized that I was pro-choice. When kids hear this (very poor) description of abortion, they will be traumatized and think that it’s bad when it’s not.
Exactly when I was 10 it was described to me like pro choice people were stupid and illogical. Now that I’m older I now understand how that was a terribly vague and misleading
They really scraped the bottom of the "shock & awe" barrel, animating a huge baby [not the little embryo it would be] *and* _wriggling in pain,_ you'll notice, which is totally inaccurate (as she explained) and the graphic descriptions remind me of the 90s "shock & awe" anti-abortion campaigns that would show a grisly image of a deceased baby (with mother's blood, but of course it's presented as "an aborted fetus")... And people just believe it. The dumbest one I've seen just said "ABORTION HURTS". Like... PREGNANCY HURTS! And you know what REALLY _HURTS?_ *CHILDBIRTH!* Nobody ever thought that one through. (Less than usual, I mean.)
Thank you for this! I went to a Catholic school and before I learned about sex I learned about abortion. One time we had a lady go into full graphic detail of a late-term abortion. Without realizing it, my little girl self was sitting there, tears streaming outta my eyes. I remember my classmates getting angry with me because due to my reaction they cancelled a video presentation that showed an alleged abortion. They did show us graphic pictures, claiming these were aborted babies when in reality they were miscarriages. They made sure we all hated abortion and anyone who supported it before we found out what sex and pregnancy actually does to you. The brainwashing was almost criminal.
@@funnyguurl I’m so sorry you had to go through this. That is fucking disgusting! Showing children videos of miscarriages should be considered a federal crime!
Imagine if all of this anti-abortion energy went into Suicide Prevention and Mental Health Assistance to actually save the lives of real fully sentient people that direly need the help.
It’s been proven that education about and access to birth control actually reduces the rate of abortions, but you’ll never see any of these angry people committed to proper sex education. They don’t want abortion to go away, they want it to be _punished._
What do you mean? They solved that problem already. Its god. God is the answer. If you just follow god, your suicidal thoughts and mental health problems will all magically disappear
My pro-life family always said "when you have a kid you'll be on our side", but having had a child now only solidified my pro-choice stance. Because the hell i went through during my pregnancy and birth is not something anyone should have to be forced to go through. I was constantly miserable and in pain through the duration of my pregnancy and am permanently disabled from a botched c-section. I felt all the pain as the epidural failed and I was told after that i would never have been able to give natural birth. Both me and my son would have died if i hadnt had the emergency c-section, that they messed up 3 times. They advised me to not have any more (didnt want any more anyway). Nobody should have to go through that. That was nearly 3 years ago now and i'm still suffering physically. Also just to be snide half of these pro-lifers cant even tell between a human and dolphin fetus.
I heard the same, but the weekend after the supreme court leak I was talking with my mom... and she said that having kids made her pro-life, but watching me be pregnant made her pro-choice. because there were so many "concerns" and talk of reduction (aka aborting one of my twins) or times when my fatigue and blood pressure dropping had her thinking it would come down to a decision of my life or theirs and she realized that, in the end, she'd choose me. and that made it click. So, so much love for you two.
To be fair, most people wouldn't be able to tell the difference because mammal fetuses all look pretty similar, and most animal embryos look similar, because evolution, but that's probably another sore subject...
My sister was mega pro life until she had a kid. She looked at me and was like “yeah you’d kys if you had to go through that.” Pregnancy and childbirth are both insane with how complicated it gets. You can just suddenly have an issue you never did before and have to live with it forever while raising a kid. Side note; my niece is wonderful and hilarious. Her mom has made a lot of progress as a single mother and is going to raise a fantastic person.
Yeah they are also often anti- vax, anti gentle parenting, pro physical punishment, support guns and army where their baby boys could be literary k..lled in the future. Make it make sense.
I'm only here BECAUSE my mom had an abortion. My mom got pregnant with a guy she wasn't super into. In the cultural/religious context, she would have faced INCREDIBLY STRONG pressure (essentially forced) to marry the guy. She ended up aborting in secret before anyone knew. She then met and married my dad. They've been married for a few decades and have a few kids now. (So I hate this BS about "what if I had been aborted???!?!)
"What if I/you were aborted" is just an idiotic comment. Every month women loose eggs that *could* be somebody. Should they have procreative sex every month just in case?
What kind of question is that anyway? Firstly, I wouldn't have existed so it doesn't even matter and secondly, as someone who is experiencing life currently, I would've much preferred to not have existed at all.
I have family who had a pregnancy stop developing & they had to have a procedure (don't know if it's the same type so please correct me) & that was how they have their 2 amazing kids now.
@@1badplayer Women being in control of their bodies and not subjecting themselves to trauma, pain, and possible death. The infant and mother death rates have also decreased significantly, and there are a number of other factors at play here, but I don't see you talking about that. In middle school I knew a girl who's parents constantly told her that she ruined their life and that they wished she didn't exist. It was so heartbreaking to hear about and I'm sure horrible for her to have to live with. Forcing people who don't want children to have children doesn't automatically make a happy family. 😞
@@HiImlizzmitchell Exactly! And now with Roe v Wade being overturned there are going to be way more unfit parents and way more children born into bad situations

I'm one of those kids; there aren't words for how *crushing* it is to know that your parent never wanted you and that they regret having children... it's so heartbreaking, especially as a child...
So you think that it would be better if that girl was aborted? Her parents should not fell pregnant in the first place. But it has happened, so they could give her up for adoption. That's sad that you think some kids doesn't deserve to live because of their abusive parents.
I LOVE the "If my mother (grandmother.... w.e.) had aborted I wouldn't be here" argument. If you weren't here, YOU WOULD NOT CARE ABOUT THAT FACT BECAUSE YOU LITERALLY COULD NOT. Life- FOMO in a fetus is not a thing.
It is actually disinformation. They are knowingly spreading lies. Misinformation is like me saying that Europe is a country (I actually think that and I dont mean any malice by saying it) if I say a 6 week fetus is moving inside me, it is me using misinformation (lies) to make other people think a 6 week fetus is an actual baby that is moving around to try to make them not want to get an abortion. Aka disinformation. Misinformation = me accidentally saying something untrue Disinformation= me intentionlly saying something untrue to try to appeal to emotion about a topic. ("Documentaries" should have no false information.)
I look up every amount of deaths that they have misinformed and it the more I compare to the fact, the more madder I got cause they have to make it more dramatic
If the government of a country can take control over women's bodies to the point of forcing them to go through with a completely avoidable pregnancy viya abortion then what will be next? What will the medical procedures the government be able to force upon humans next?
@@dollinterrupted Maybe we can change it growing a pair of ovaries? Ovaries are tough, man. Or maybe growing a uterus or vagina? Those are even tougher.
I've seen a number of friends open up about their abortions on social media in the wake of the supreme court's decision and it's inspiring to see them speak back to the shame pressured on us for our bodies and sex lives.
What really upset me was I have a friend in America and she had to have an abortion. She is pro life she would never have one willingly but there was an issue with her little one and if she didn’t have one she could of turned septic when the foetus died (it was going to regardless). So she went to a clinic (they aren’t in hospitals there they are like specialised clinics not like here in the uk). She phoned me afterwards and was hysterically crying it wasn’t just because of her situation but because of people stood outside the clinic calling her horrible vile things. Telling her she was basically the worst person in the world for doing what she had no choice in doing. Not only was she grieving the loss she didn’t want to lose she had gone against her beliefs as she had no choice to for health but she also had vile people shouting vile things at her on the way in to do it. I was appalled. How can people be allowed to stand outside there and say awful things? They didn’t know she didn’t have a choice they had no right to call her a murderer call her a sinner etc x
@@somik-i3x she’s still deeply affected by it all now it’s been a year and she’s getting therapy bless her it’s just awful what she had to go through without those people making her feel like that whilst doing it. They got to go home and sleep soundly thinking they were doing good. But she’s spent a year emotionally exhausted and mentally shattered replaying the things they said to her. It’s awful xx
That poor woman. Miscarriages alone can be traumatic for some, but it has to be even worse that people were actively berating her for having to get the lifesaving procedure. It’s so disgusting of them to just assume. Wellwishes to her.
When they built a new Planned Parenthood near me there were a bunch of (mostly men?) outside with pictures of gore DESPITE the fact that this clinic didn’t even do abortions. Just yelling at people getting paps and sti screenings. The one clinic that DID do them had a police officer walking around the parking lot and guarding the discreet entrance. I wish your friend would have had more protection from awful people, I’m so sorry that happened.
On the adoption point, many people who have been adopted have spoken about how traumatic adoption is and now using adoption as a “gotcha” point is treating babies as a commodity. Worth looking into the impact of adoption on adoptees
this, from what i know a lot of adopted people say becoming a foster parent and fostering to reunite families and only adopting if absolutely necessary (to not take away any possible families being able to be put back together) but i think adoption would be a great video idea to delve deep into and get us outsiders an understanding of what children in adoption and foster care go through !
There is a big black market with adopted children. Children are kidnapped for sale or mothers are tricked into "temporarily" leaving their children in the care of a richer family. This is going on in well-known adoption companies.
Let's also remember forever that the draft of the draft of America's supreme court ruling to abolish Roe v. Wade wrote one reason to ban abortion was to "have more babies in the adoption market". Absolutely disgusting.
@@cretancaptainidomeneus534 Yep, because the "domestic supply" of babies is low. Not to mention the statistic that by 2050 white people will be the minority in the US. Can't let that happen so we gotta force people to have more white babies
I'm Muslim and I am PRO-CHOICE. Honestly, I believe that religion does NOT have a place in medicine and that there shouldn't be Christian, Muslim, Jewish etc doctors. And that's with a period. If I am making a medical decision, I don't want that to be influenced by my religion. In Islam, abortion is permitted up until the 4th month as that is when it's believed the baby has a soul; despite this, there are still a ridiculous amount of Muslim doctors who ignore that and will try to make a woman feel like crap for deciding what is best for her and her family. Should I ever (hopefully not) need an abortion, I don't want my judgement to be skewed by religion. Anyone who thinks otherwise is just plain weird, IMO. In the same way, I think people should mind their own business and worry about their own bodies. I firmly believe that the choices people make are between them and God alone. Anyone else's opinion is null, and no one is required to be told those reasons either.
YES! I go into that with people all the time... (usually Christians since that's what I am and what I can argue best) but God wanted humans to have free will... so STOP trying to force you belief on others via medical means or legal means
I dont think religious people should be banned from medicine tbh but I do believe they need to put their believes aside in the name of medicine, they need to separate their religion to their career
@@Sabrina-sc1db that's very difficult to do though, considering that our beliefs often times shape our choices and the decisions we make. That being said, I meant doctors who specifically identify themselves as a Christian, Muslim Jewish etc doctor; they will advertise themselves as such to attract other religious people to them. I haven't got a problem with doctors who are just doctors but happen to be also religious. These religious doctors will often give incorrect medical advice to go in line with what their religion states. So when a woman needs an abortion or a hysterectomy and any other doctor will tell her that, these types of doctors will tell her she doesn't need them and that God has a plan.
It’s so nice to see a religious individual actually acknowledge the separation between medical decisions and religious belief! At the end of the day abortion is so important in women’s healthcare not all fetuses are viable and pregnancy is still so dangerous. Big respect to you for holding your beliefs and understanding medicines place too 👏🏻 *Also I didn’t know that Islam accepted abortion until 4 months so thank you for letting people know
It is disgusting that they are using pregnancy as punishment. Abortion is not a way to escape responsibility. Having one is a responsible decision if you know you are not ready. Abortion is healthcare and it's a private medical issue. Your body, your choice. Not your body, not your business. Great video!
Completely agree with the "I'd rather die than go through pregnancy and raise a child". Absolutely never would I choose to go through it, it's glorified body horror.
Me too, I have diagnosed Tokophobia yet no dr will give me a uterine ablation! All they have to do is destroy the uterine lining so the egg would have nowhere to attach and it wouldn’t even disturb my hormones, but I might have a superior male who wants to use my body to breed one day so my opinion doesn’t matter. I’m Canadian but I’m done dating males. It’s not worth the risk or the assumption that he owns my body more than I do. Thankfully I’m bisexual.
This is what drives me crazy, people always telling me I might change my mind. No. I've known I didn't want this for two decades, believe me, I know myself better than you.
You have no idea how much it means to finally find someone who feels the way I do! Being a young woman, I'm constantly told that I will change my mind about having a child even though I've known for years that I would rather die than to grow a human inside of me. The idea of having something growing inside of me literally makes me feel sick.
Me too. I’m helping a friend of mine take care of her newborn baby. Her husband left her as soon as she got pregnant and it’s been very difficult. I live in a country where abortion is almost completely illegal (we recently got exceptions for cases of rape) mostly because of our regressive culture and the fascist supporting child molester Church. As for me I’d never want to go through this, I’m lucky enough that I can afford proper contraception. If I ever want to become a mother, there are plenty of children to adopt; I have two adopted brothers myself and I love them more than anything. My mum chose to adopt partly because she had fainting spells during her pregnancy, and I was born really premature.
@@KaylaNoelle1 a woman I grew up with wanted to get a hysterectomy, and she had to fight for it for years I believe. It’s so insulting how we are assumed not to know our own minds. We’re like children… but we should have children??
It's important to remember that the "pro-life" movement is not about reducing abortion or "saving babies," it's about punishing women for non-reproductive sex. There's a reason why the Republicans banning abortion are also trying to ban condoms and birth control, and advocate for abstinence only education.
Yep. I thought I understood sex and reproduction- but dang if I don’t learn a lot more every single time this subject comes up. I actually got sex ed in public school and wasn’t banned from researching more about it. Forced birth also ties the birthing person to the man forever. Huge power move.
*Note: this is US-centric and also references some fairly graphic bodily injury to make a point* And moreover, it's punishing women for men getting obsessed over them - because the "pro-life" people won't even so much as support the band-aid of teaching women self-defense (certainly not the most surefire way to keep you abstinent - that is, permitting women to carry a dagger on their person and teaching women how to castrate any male creeps on the spot with that dagger, even though they have no problem allowing the far deadlier assault rifles). And yes, I know those self-defense measures are ALSO not 100% effective and anyone can lose a fight - but you'd think someone who is in favor of allowing assault rifles should have no problem with women being taught how to wield daggers to castrate r@pists, the latter is less deadly and it does keep women "pure" in that estimation. Especially since there are gun fanatics who accidentally shoot off their intimate parts anyway when they display their guns in that exact spot on social media. And plenty of people who get permanently injured with assault rifles. As well as killed.
@@jcfreedom7289 Matt wasn't saying that all pro-lifers are anti-non-reproductive sex. Just that the movement is being led by individuals who are promoting that kind of thinking. But the main conversation (as in the conversations that actually effect the laws) is being had by pro-lifers who are also pro abstinence only education and anti birth control.
When I was 15 I dealt with a sexually abusive stalker for about 6 months. The school system I attended did not care, even when I went to admin about what was going on (my abuser was another student). Thankfully I never ended up becoming pregnant from those traumatic filled times but I had multiple long conversations with my best friend during that time about how if I got pregnant from those experiences that I would in fact end my life. I live in an incredibly conservative area of a very conservative state in the U.S. and there is NO WAY I would've been able to access reproductive care to discuss my options (no public transportation, low socioeconomic status, and did not own a car/other modes of transport. My closest Planned Parenthood is approximately 20 or so miles away) THIS is why I became so interested in reproductive health among other things. Some suburban blonde and her polo husband didn't go through shit and do not speak for me. Their voices are of no greater value than mine and they should not be advocating for such (for being anti choice I mean)
im glad that you're here and you're doing better. hopefully, you have a support system that actually gives a shit unlike your school's admit cause holy shit
I'm so sorry that this happened to you. The way you were treated is so fucked up in so many ways, the stalker and the people who were responsible for your wellbeing had no fucking right to abuse and neglect you like that. You are worth so much more, you have always been and will always be precious even if people choose to be assholes.
My mom was very sick her entire life, but chose to have me. Her entire family was furious with her for risking her life like that, some of them for YEARS after it. She went through three doctors before one would finally agree to work with her through the pregnancy. While I required a lot of postnatal care and was in the hospital for a month, we both lived. I was told growing up that abortion is "never okay because if she could have me, why couldn't other women?" As an adult, I've come to realize that what made her choice to have me was just that- her CHOICE. She wanted me, and THAT'S what made the experience worth it for her and my father. Honestly, if she'd chosen to protect her life and not have me, that would have been just as okay because she was a human with the right to live. Not all high-risk pregnancies end as luckily as my mother's did. Not all pregnant people have the access to the natal care and financial resources my mother was blessed with. No one should ever be FORCED to go through with something that was a choice for my mother.
My mom just had her latest of 20 surgeries due complications from to having me and my brother, and just like your mother she only thought it was worth it because she wanted children. Even then, she still had days when she contemplated suicide due to the pain and embarrassment cause by the surgeries and the abandonment she felt as every friend and family member besides my father ghosted them and refused to help, despite being ecstatic when my mom was pregnant. Even when you want the child it is incredibly difficult when after complications, now imagine if you were forced into it for no reason. Just because your mother survived and is fine does not mean everyone does, and I find it highly disturbing that your mother either does not understand that fact or doesn’t care.
Hey man I'm pro choice through and through but since she chose to have you, I'm really really happy you both ended up being ok 💜 and I hope you're both still healthy today!!
Having a baby is a luxury these days. I don't understand how can you be pro-life and at the same time not supporting longer paid maternity and paternity leave for new parents, or free healthcare, education and so on
*Has always been a luxury. It used to be the main cause of death in women. Women don't just 'die', there's still an in between of pain and suffering and I hate how that is ignored.
I completely agree some schools are even skipping sex ed and I missed it in filth grade. This is really immature on the adults half and it leaves children to learn about it from the internet witch can lead to some…predatory outcomes.
Believe it or not, that's exactly what happens in my country. Even if a woman has a miscarriage, she can't go to a hospital, because she could end up in jail. It's like a real life horror movie.
I’m a mother of 3 bio and 2 step kids- 5 amazing burritos! Properly caring for and nurturing a child is very hard- even when you want them with all of your heart. Nobody should be forced to become a mother. The world doesn’t need more traumatized unwanted children.
Exactly. Kids deserve to be wanted! I would rather have been aborted than be forced on my mom. She in fact did have an abortion years before my birth. Glad she was able to access care.
This exactly!! Traumatised kids often become traumatised adults and the trauma cycle continues!! Want to ban abortions? Well then you need to be expected to invest incredible amounts of money, time and manpower into care homes, mental health support, the foster system, promoting adoption, food banks, schools, the list goes on and on and on!
Exactly-- I would never be able to love a young child, I am almost certain. I personally struggle with empathy and connections, even with my own family. While I would never abuse nor neglect a child, they would know that I am not personally connected to them in the way that their father, grandmother, grandfather, siblings, etc. The child would know that I didn't want it. And that would traumatize them, even if that connection was built later while the child was a teen or adult. It would be cruel to the child.
I’ve always felt that late term abortions should be viewed as a tragedy for mothers and fathers. Those are almost always wanted babies. Families going through one of the worst decisions of their lives deserve respect and compassion. No one wakes up at 7 months and thinks, well, I’d rather fit in my bikini next month, guess I’ll chuck this fetus out.
My mom thinks that people just abort at random even up to a few minutes to giving birth, and that’s one of her main arguments against abortion. I don’t believe it because I’m not stupid enough to, but years of false indoctrination can do that to you
As an American I just wanted to make a small correction to the intro. The endgame for some of these politicians (some are playing coy but a Representative from Idaho admitted to it) isn't to make abortion illegal, it's to outlaw contraception as well. "Domestic supply of infants" is so important yet I had to drive around for 45 minutes today looking for baby formula.
omg the fact that one of the reasons to try to ban so many abortions because of a 2008 study of people wanting to adopt but couldn't because of what I believe is that "they didn't have the right child I was looking for" (like when some people go to animal shelters looking for puppies) and using the term "domestic supply of infants" just grosses me out because we (people who can carry a pregnancy) are NOT incubators!!!! like seriously?!?!?!?!? "domestic supply of infants" is one of the grossest things I've ever read/ heard. like imagine having less rights than a deceased person. Government shouldn't be deciding my bodily autonomy, y'know? I shall have no old wrinkly evangelical Christian white men tell me what to do
AND to bring back Jim Crow Laws. Rember the right in the US was not against abortion until racial segregation was a dieing hill politically. It is also a broader way to push the US even further right politically than it already was.
@@lizzyisbored9882 also forced sterilization is a something that hasn't been banned on a federal level. POC and disabled people are especially vulnerable. They want "healthy" white babies, specifically.
Those people are idiots. You take away contraception, women will be to afraid to even sleep with their partners and what do you know, crime rises and rape increases. How sickening.
My own mother tried to induce a miscarriage when she got pregnant at 19. She was unsuccessful and ended up giving her daughter up for adoption. She is now anti-choice, seemingly unaware of the fact that her own actions would have been criminalized before Roe.
What is worse is that the same people who want to ban abortion also want to ban contraceptives. If you want to reduce abortion, you should support contraceptives and sex ed….
That is terrible and terrifying. I don't plan on getting pregnant but I need the pill to help my pcos. Birth control isn't just for preventing pregnancy ugh
@@hayapatel_ yes same here. I take birth control pills primarily for my health to reduce excess bleeding and ovarian cysts, to help regulate my cycle and make it much lighter and less painful. They're not just for preventing pregnancy.
I know so many people who have lived sad, impoverished lives because of being denied abortions as 14-year olds. I can guarantee that their mental health, financial circumstances, and addiction status would have been better had they not been forced into raising babies when they were only babies. Especially in North America, there is this perception that all a baby needs is love when that is so far from the truth. Children are a massive financial and emotional commitment that lasts for the rest of your life. Whether it's letting someone choose not have a child at all or to only have the number of children they can afford, we have to support the freedom to make the best choice possible for the situation you are in. It's just been so frustrating that the people who join the parties that pretend to want small government and less regulation only think that applies to fucking oil companies. The uterus has become the most highly regulated and politicized organ in the world.
Exactly. I dont live in states, but i read long time ago an article about a 13 old girl, raped by the priest from her church. How fuc*ing disgusting...they all were super conservative and said that sack of cells was a gift from God. I cried...thankfully planed parenthood and Child Protection took her from her religious parents and took her to another state to have a safe abortion. I think this was in tennesee, im not sure. Also im sorry for my english, not my first language
I wouldn’t be alive if not for an abortion. Because my mom had an abusive ex-husband 10 years before I was born. My cousins wouldn’t be alive if not for an abortion. My aunt got pregnant at 15 and because she was able to get an abortion she went to university and got her master’s degree. Because our mothers were able to make choices about their own bodies and the timing of their own family planning my cousins and I were able to grow up together and have healthy, stable, childhoods. Whenever a pro-forced-birthed tries to say “well how would you feel if your mom aborted YOU!??” I LOVE telling them my story, then I ask, “are you telling me that I don’t deserve to be alive but the fetus my mom aborted does??” “Are you saying that an abusive man deserved a child more than my dad who loves me endlessly???” Those people have worms for brains and they hate women.
@@selrox879 Tennessee republicans are trying to pass a marriage law that overturns marriage equality for LGBTQ+ people … but they have hidden a clause that gets rid of ANY minimum age for marriage. So if it passes men in Tennessee will be able to rape little girls as long as they marry them first. They won’t even need parent’s signatures, they’ll be able to marry elementary school girls. Fundamentalist Christians will happily vote for it because they are homophobic, they won’t read the fine print that means their children are completely open to being groomed and abused. They want to return to biblical times when 10-14 year old girls are married off and taken out of any kind of education.
@@KaylaNoelle1 My father said “well how would you feel if your mom aborted YOU!??” to me. My honest answer is that if I were aborted, I wouldn't have known or cared anyway.
Adoption is an option. And while you are right that single and young mothers struggle more I believe then we should focus on supporting these women and focusing on adoption. With this argument we could say then all children who live in low income currently let’s gather them up and kill them now so that their families can be free of the burden to care for them. And so that the children don’t have to have a hard life. Both lives matter. That of the mother and her child. It’s not a simple fix to keep on taking away the lives of their children. It does not solve the deeper issues within the communities. It’s not about controlling the mother. It’s about protecting the life of the child. As society why don’t we focus on raising up both mother and child rather than taking the life of one?
I went to a Women's Health Clinic, which most people understand deal in way more than just abortions. There were protesters there, including the obligatory Teen Mom. I decided to stop and chat for a moment... told them I had 3 questions, which I did ask: 1) How many of you have adopted? (Answer: none, except someone's nephew did adopt, to which I noted he wasn't there protesting because he was busy taking care of his family.) 2) How many of you foster? Answer: None 3) How many of you volunteer in orphanages or other homes for children without parents.... Answer: None My final response: So you care about the children right up til the moment they are born - good to know!
@@HiImlizzmitchell I hope but not likely.... one thing that has been very clear for years, they mostly care about the babies born to themselves and their offspring, but not about any other baby or child.
The way that they pretend adoption is a neutral option is so disingenuous to me. Giving up a baby is/can be a traumatic thing. I would spend my whole life wondering and feeling horrible.
Not to mention that being given up by your birth parents does a number on the kid's mental health. But I suppose they'll just get over it, right? Who cares that you're struggling with self-worth issues, even if your birth parent(s) just couldn't afford it or thought you'd have a better life away from them? Who cares about the abuse rampant in the adoption/foster system? It's so frustrating that they think there's a simple alternative solution that "saves" a life.
@@jakeking3859 biological parents can be abusive too. My point is that foster care system is a mess and needs to be reformed and adoption is stigmatized.
@@FinnyThePorg I understand that, and I didn't say they couldn't be. It's just that the comment I replied to was talking about adoption. And a lot of people completely ignore the consequences of giving your child up for adoption. They just say it so off-handedly that it's honestly baffling. Like you send them off into the ether and no one has to worry about them ever again, end of story, they lived happily ever after, which is just ridiculous
I won’t be watching, because I had to have an abortion for a very wanted pregnancy with a much loved baby to prevent him from either dying immediately or suffering a prolonged death over a short and painful life at the end of December. I can handle some anti abortion conversations, but based on the snippets I’ve seen of their documentary, I can’t handle one they’re involved in. Thank you for addressing their video and speaking on abortion rights.
Lots of love to you. It's far beyond horrible to have to endure that. After the removal of my ectopic pregnancy, when my doctor checked if I was healing properly, she told me that grief has no deadline. We should never be forced to "feel happy" just because other people are bothered or annoyed by our grief. I wish you peace.
So sorry for what you had to go through... Take care of yourself and of your mental health. It gets better, it will be better. I'm sure you're strong enough to go through this
I'm genuinely like, borderline phobic of being pregnant. Even hearing about other people being pregnant or being around a pregnant person makes me extremely uncomfortable. I also have unstable moods that hormones can effect that I know pregnancy would make go haywire.... I don't think I could survive being forced to carry one to term.... People pushing this shit just do not care about the health of people and just want to push their agenda...
I’m the same exact way. I know i shouldn’t self diagnose but… I genuinely believe I’m also borderline phobic of pregnancy and birth. I have literal panic attacks just thinking about it randomly sometimes. Hearing birth stories has made me hyperventilate and cry and have nightmares. I can’t I just can’t. I don’t really like children and don’t have the motivation in me to be a mother and constantly pay attention to another human being. I like my alone time way too much. Its good to know there’s others that feel genuinely truly terrified of pregnancy and all of it because sometimes I feel like I’m the only one when I see and hear things that people say about how wonderful it is.
There's a term for that: tokophobia. I remember my sister being pregnant and we saw the baby kick. Everyone was so ecstatic, but I just had shivers run down my spine and had nightmares for a while after that image being stuck in my head.
I have the same fear. And that's not even mentioning the mental and physical illnesses I could pass on IF I got pregnant and had a kid. But the thought of the whole process chills me and makes me sick outside of the thought I probably wouldn't survive anyway
Anyone who’s pro forced birth should have to sit through an EMS gynecology unit. If you want to force someone through pregnancy, you should have to know EXACTLY, in graphic, gory detail what you’re forcing them through.
Part of me feels like the pro-life movement exists to shame women for having sex. Like, "you were intimate so pay the consequence" more than anything else
that's exactly what it is. when you push them on their argument, it all comes down to, "well, if she just kept her legs closed, this wouldn't be an issue!" they're more concerned about punishing women when you whittle down every other point.
The anti abortion idiots I hate the most, are those who believe sex is a sin and pregnancy is a punishment meant to straighten you out. These people are just sadistic and like to watch others suffer. Yet they can't be the bad guys, so they give it a reason like "but God wants-" and demonize the mother as much as possible. They're one of those types of people who laugh when they argue against abortion. If someone was worried about the baby, they'd be sad, angry, or something other than amused.
They expect them to keep every child that comes from unprotected sex and then they're the same ones who will then proceed to shame that couple for having so many kids.
It's like George Carlin always used to say: They are not pro-life, they are pro-forced-birth. They don't care what happens to you or the baby after it has been born.
It’s a shame that this is still an issue. I’m currently pregnant and just starting to feel like myself again at 15 weeks. This has been really hard on my body and emotions, but the only thing that makes it worth it is knowing me and my husband will finally have the baby we tried so long for. There’s NO WAY i would go though an entire pregnancy if i didnt plan for it, couldnt afford a baby, or had an unsupportive partner because this has been so much harder than I expected, totally changed my daily routines. I can’t understand why anyone would want to force someone to carry a pregnancy to term, like its not even your body going through it so why do you think you’re entitled to an opinion? I was already Pro-Choice but after getting a taste of how stressful/painful/overwhelming pregnancy can be im even more Pro-Choice
Glad you got to make your own choice, and best wishes for a safe and healthy pregnancy and delivery! My son is 16 months old and what a journey it has been. Hard at first but your heart grows so much and now that he can do more he’s so much fun.
Congratulations! And thanks for still sticking with us who have so many reasons to not choose to be pregnant, and who are terrified of accidentally becoming pregnant due to the world going backwards and expecting us to just give away our body autonomy for the sake of other people's ideals.
Ah the honey moon stages of pregnancy - pregnancy and the birth was by far the worst , stressful and most painful thing I've ever experienced .. even going through all that I was being treated like a child by coworkers and family members.. I found out 11 weaks I was pregnant and had my 1st sonogram at 13 weaks .. I went through majority of my 1st trimester just thinking I was just over working my body from working out and Preety much as the morning sickness went on I lost over 6lbs in one weak .. didn't feel rested when I slept and constantly felt like I had a hangover.. I also had no car so my pregnant ass straight up would throw up in the bushes and have to wear pads because I struggled with in continence .. and when i did buy a car Preety much every day I threw up all over myself and the steering wheel without stopping.. no where to stop .. and with covid being a thing I was sucking on mint candies just to keep from throwing up in customer houses ..survived off of yogurt and cold strawberries.. but luckily all the pain and suffering gave me a beautiful baby boy.. I don't want to be pregnant again but I prayed for a child for 6 years and finally was able to have one .. I hope you have a safe and as healthy as you can get pregnancy..
@@dakotamabry1645 I want to thank all of you for sharing these stories. Its so important to talk openly about pregnancy. Congratulations on your little bean!
I like the statement 'they're not pro-life, they're pro-birth' they don't care about the quality of life the kid will have, they just care that the child is born.
A friend of mine had an abortion a little over a decade ago. In an effort to keep her privacy, let's just say she was not mentally well enough to have a child at that time (she's much better now thankfully but still chooses to be child-free) and was spiraling when she realized she was pregnant, trying to remove it herself. She told me this while I was a pro-lifer. I was brought up in the pro-life crowd, thanks to my parents, and was too sheltered to realize how important the pro-choice movement is. Her story started to change my view, and as the years went on I realized how ridiculous "pro-life" really is. If they really cared about children, they'd do something about the hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of children in the foster care and adoption systems. I'm only "pro-life" when it comes to the person wanting an abortion: it's their life, they deserve the choice.
I'm one of the women that would never survive a pregnancy because of my blood disorder. I also can't take oral or injectable birth control because of it. My spouse got a vasectomy but I'm still constantly paranoid that I'm going to get pregnant, and I've had two different obgyn's refuse to authorize a hysterectomy because "my future husband might want children". I'm in Canada luckily, but these last few weeks with what's happening in the US have been incredibly stressful, especially because we're seeing the same conservative anti-choice sentiments being echoed by very vocal groups of conservatives here in Canada. I really appreciate videos like these, even though you might get a throng of anti-choice hate in the comments. Thank you for all the work you did for this.
Oh I’m so sorry. I don’t think the majority of people understand just how serious that can be. I was watching birth videos the other day of the UK maternity wards & there was a a pregnant woman with some sort of blood disorder on there. Her whole body was starting to shut down, her kidneys were starting to fail which made her itch so uncontrollably that she had infections all over her body from lesions. She held on as long as she could but ended up having deliver very prematurely, but thankfully her baby was ok & healthy. They gave her the option to terminate around 20 weeks but she declined. She held on 4 more weeks until viability. It was so horrible to watch, I cried for her. I’m thankful she held on that long but I wouldn’t blame her at all if she chose to terminate (& I typically don’t agree with termination so far along but she was literally fucking dying).
You would think doctors know best but no, really, we have this stupid convo? "I need a hysterectomy, having children will kill me." "Buh futuh hubbuh" "Tough, I ent marrying. System out please. It kill me." "Buh futuh hubbbuuhhhhhhh." "... What part of 'I DIE' do you not understand?" "Uh lady humuh make baby humuh." "FFS." Honestly why are they thicker than pig poo?
Wait your "future husband"? Are they expecting your current relationship to fail? So it's your current spouse may change his mind and if that fails to convince you then it's your future husband may want kids?
@@9CrystalDragon2 I’m not married to him, so he’s not my husband. The whole conversation was weird. It was like the doctor expected us both to change our minds about wanting kids after we get married, if we ever do.
@@MoxieRocker Oh OK. It's a messed up view when people say "your partner may want kids in the future" . Like if my partner changed their mind, it would be hard but it means the relationship is over. Simple.
I have a question for anyone who may be anti-abortion. What if a 10 year old girl falls pregnant as a result of sexual abuse? Whether or not this particular hypothetical describes most abortions is not the point, the point is the hypothetical is totally realistic. In 2015, it made national headlines when a 10 year old girl in Paraguay fell pregnant as a result of rape perpetrated by her step father. One of the most common arguments by pro-life people is that child bearing is a natural part of being biologically female. For the most part, that is true. However, science teaches us that, when a girl first begins puberty, even though she is technically capable of reproducing, her body is not quite ready to do so. Statistics show that mothers under 15 years of age are five times more likely to die compared to adult women who give birth. I must ask all pro-life people this one question? If a 10 year old girl falls pregnant as a result of rape, should she be forced by law to remain pregnant or should she be allowed to terminate the pregnancy? If you said that she 10 year old sexual assault survivor should be allowed to get an abortion, I have some follow up questions. Should a 25 year old woman, who falls pregnant due to sexual assault, be allowed to abort? If not, then at what age does a female pass the cut off where abortion should no longer be legal? If, however, you believe that the 25 year old, who fell pregnant due to rape, should be allowed an abortion, should a 25 year old, who falls pregnant due to consensual sex, also be allowed an abortion? If you answered no, then A, why is aborting a pregnancy that resulted from consensual sex morally different from aborting a pregnancy that resulted from rape? And B, what if a woman lies about having been raped, so that she can have an abortion? Does she have to prove that she was raped before she can get the abortion? The investigation could turn up inconclusive. The investigation might take so long, that the pregnant woman ends up giving birth, before the investigation is over. There exist people who believe that abortion should be reserved for cases of rape. That is a lot simpler in concept than it is to execute. However, there also exist people who believe that abortion should be illegal, even when the pregnancy results from sexual assault. If you do that you will have children, who are not even old enough to be left home without a babysitter in some states, will be forced to give birth.
Julian Bigelow. Cases like that are why I choose to take a stance only as a moral issue, as a legal matter, I am totally pro-choice. Even if you believe that abortion is immoral, anti-abortion policies are a lot simpler in concept than they are to execute.
I'm very pro-choice after experiencing SA that did, thankfully, not result in pregnancy. Birth control helps immensely for me in cases of that happening again. There's also the factor of incest babies, such as the child mentioned above. I have friends who outright hate abortion, but I think it's important to have for drastic cases. That can mean incest, rape, financial issues, or health for mother and child. Women should have the choice to choose that option should they need it.
@ I know right. The idea behind parental involvement laws is that 16 year olds are not mature enough to make that choice on their own. I heard someone say that, since you need your parent's permission to go on a field trip, you should need your parents' permission to abort. First of all, if a 16 year old is so immature, why do you want her to be a parent? Second of all, the reason why minors usually need their parents' permission to go on a field trip is because the parents need to know where the kids are in case of an emergency. An abortion does not pose any sort of risk to the health of the pregnant patient that would not be a serious risk to begin with. All the evidence demonstrates that it is riskier to carry a pregnancy to term and give birth than it is to abort.
It is also important that: 1. proving assault isn't always possible. Women, who are unable to present solid proof that it was assault will be forced to continue pregnancy. 2. Proving that pregnancy is dangerous to mother's life can also be difficult and take a lot of time, and then ot may be too late. So anti-choicers who say "we'll have exceptions" don't understand the reality of situation
I guarantee you the MOMENT Savannah needed an abortion due to miscarriage she’d have Everleigh and Posie shaking their butts online for more pedo bucks and she’d get the lifesaving abortion rather than let the fetus rot inside her like a good godly woman and die a martyr. She’d have it done by the best of the best dr and then buy their silence.
i lost any respect i had for pro-lifers when a group of them stood right outside my schools ground along the road the buses left on holding signs of dead fetuses. i was 12 years old.
I'm, unfortunately, trapped in Oklahoma. They don't care about us, the don't even care about the pregnancies they're forcing, they care about controlling women. I couldn't even get a doctor to listen to me about my ovary causing such horrible fits of pain that I'd lay in bed being able to do nothing for days and weeks at a time. They didn't care, and then I lost my ovary because it was dead inside my body from being suffocated from large tumors. They didn't care when I went back because the other ovary now feels similar to what happened before, and they told me that I needed to "think about my future children." I have begged to have the other one taken out, my quality of life sucks because of my issues with my reproductive system. They. Don't. Care. They just care about controlling our bodies and some theoretical idea that I might one day get pregnant, so I have to suffer. If I somehow managed to get pregnant, it would be excruciating for me. Thing is, I'm most likely not even fertile anyways, so I'm suffering for literally nothing.
Also, that doctor who talked about the D&E abortion said she had an abortion and now she's pro-life because of what she witnessed in the D&E while in medical school seems to be completely oblivious that she more than likely would have never made it through medical school if she hadn't had an abortion. Yet "what's best for thee is not for me!"
Rachel made a good point about pro choice being the middle ground. On one side you have no abortions under almost any circumstance, sometimes even rape or incest aren't exceptions. Then their are anti natalist who say no more children, abort all, having children is immoral. Also I hate the whole, "well this lady wanted to abort but didn't and is happy," argument. Like for every one of those woman I can show you a woman throwing her baby in the trash, shaking the hell out of it, or mistreating it because she didn't abort. Not to mention who knows how long that happiness will last. Their is not much worse than a parent that resents their child. If you don't want an abortion don't have one. But if others want one they should be given easy and affordable access. Its the bare bloody minimum.
I agree, I’m pro choice and also very middle ground. I believe there should be some regulations in place of course, as I don’t think it’s morally right to have one past the first trimester (unless there’s a severe medical reason), but they should be safe and accessible for all. I believe that going full blown one way or the other, abolishing all abortion across the board making abortion legal anytime throughout the entire length of pregnancy is definitely the wrong way to go.
I am an anti-natalist, and most of us aren't trying to force or coerce people into aborting against their will. People aren't obliged to share my anti-natalist views. Though there are anti-natalists who are extremists, don't think every one of us is
The thing that most pro-birthers don't understand is that most people who have an abortion don't want to be pregnant. It's not necessarily about having a baby, but being pregnant.
My brother was born incompatible with life back in the 80s, my parents didn’t know he had a congenital heart disorder until after birth but I remember my parents using him in their pro-life arguments. That if they’d known, they’d still have carried him to term, how glad they were that I and my siblings met him and loved him. And I thought that was the only right thing to do in their situation. With my first pregnancy I was terrified my child would also be born with the same disorder and then die alone in a cold hospital surgery like my brother did. I went into my 20 week ultrasound with trepidation, waiting for bad news. I feared I’d have to carry my dying infant for twenty more weeks before I could say hello and in the next moment say goodbye. Her scan didn’t show any anomaly, but, I told myself, my brother’s didn’t either. When she was born there were complications and she was taken directly to the NICU, I thought I wouldn’t see her alive again. My mind played games with me and I was an absolute mess the whole pregnancy. Then when a friend’s sister went through a late term abortion for her own much wanted infant because the baby would suffer, I realized it was a kindness. A kindness to the infant and to the mother. A kindness I could afford to give to myself if I found the need. I’m 100% pro choice now. A mother’s health is important, both her physical and her mental health. I trust women to make their own choices regarding their medical care. I trust myself.
I have to disagree. The 1 minute of footage of their kids was in there for a very good reason - emotional influence and propaganda. They want you to feel bad about having abortions because look at these beautiful children that the embryo would've grown into if you just let it!
Its absolutely disgusting to me that the people who are anti choice ride so HEAVILY on the necessity to appeal to emotions. Its like the fundraisers that show the dogs in the cages. Even if there are good intentions behind what you're doing (like the dog example) appealing to emotion to get their way is incredibly manipulative.
American here! The frustrating thing about Roe is that it isn't a law or amendment or anything like that. It's a supreme court ruling - which hypothetically sets legal president for curts in the US to rule in favor of the right to have an abortion. That's it. We voted last week to enshrine the right to an abortion in law but if failed
So many years, so many opportunities to make it law, but they keep using our equal rights for campaigns without doing anything about it. Forced pregnancy takes away my life, liberty, pursuit of happiness.
My Tokophobia is so bad I'd rather be dead than pregnant. I would hurt myself if I wasn't able to be free from that horror and possibly die. These kind of people horrify me.
Watching this just hours after finding out that roe v wade got overturned. I live in a state with very scary trigger laws in place. I'm terrified. As soon as I found out I called my husband to schedule his vasectomy sooner than he was planning because I now have no rights the second I become pregnant. I could be investigated and prosecuted for a miscarriage if it's deemed to be my fault. I'm not letting that happen. I, a fully grown adult woman with a job and a house and responsibilities, have less rights than firearms.
We were meant to have a series of talks on pro-life vs pro-choice, the pro-life speaker came to our school and told about 200 14/15 year old girls that our bodies are not our own and that if we were raped and it resulted in pregnancy we should carry it to term and then maybe consider adoption, then asked who in the room would get an abortion if they found out they were pregnant next week and we all put our hands up (even the 2 heavily pregnant girls in our year, they got pregnant by choice). The pro-choice speaker had to cancel so our head of year stood up and said she wasn’t too worried about us needing that talk as she’d seen how we’d reacted to the speaker the previous week and if we had any questions we could ask her, our form tutors or our science teachers. Looking back I’m amazed at how restrained we were with that speaker, she was horrible, as a year group we’d had a reputation for being difficult, loud and rude, but we just couldn’t be bothered with this woman, once she’d gone we were incredibly vocal about our feelings.
Thanks again for continuing to speak out on these issues when I'm sure you receive some nasty comments/backlash for it. Also doing the research and scripting for this video was probably mentally exhausting as well. I appreciate you!
The idea that I could be forced to birth a child when I am barely able to take care of myself and don't even feel comfortable taking on a pet because I don't feel I could provide for it is terrifying. That child would suffer under my eye. I wouldn't be able to afford them, I'm not in the mental headspace to care for them, I don't even live in a good place for a child to grow up. But NOPE, I could be forced to endure those horrors because some rando who's never met me gets to tell me what to do with my body. Pregnancy scares me... nonetheless birthing and raising the child.
To add to that: abortions fucking scare me. I've thankfully never had to do it (yet) but they seem very tough and traumatic to go through. And yet, pregnancy, birth, and raising a child scare me more. Like you, I don't feel like a child I give birth to will have everything a kid needs. My mental, financial and home state is not something I would like anyone to be forced into just by being my kid. Even though I'm on my way to recovery from some tough shit, even when I will be stable enough mentally and financially, I still don't want kids. And that should just be enough, but it's not. Why do we feel the need to justify our choice to not have them? I love other people's kids. I'm an aunt to a beautiful baby girl who just turned one and I love her to pieces. Why are other people not satisfied with my role as an aunt and insist I have to be a mother? Sorry for the rant, it is obvious I have ~~feelings(TM)~~ about this
Along with the continuous need for legal abortion options, there should be propper sex education and guidance with contraception in every school. I think less shame and secretiveness around the subject would prevent more people from needing abortions.
Another tactic I’ve noticed is pro-lifers bring up women who’ve had abortions and regretted it/ were scarred by the experience. Obviously, the emotions of those women are valid and I hope they’ll be at peace one day. But they never delve in to the reason it was regretted. Was the woman forced to get one? Was the method itself traumatic? As was mentioned in the video, positive abortion experiences are never brought up.
This whole "if my mum had an abortion, i wouldn't be here" argument is completely redundant! If your mum didn't have sex you wouldn't be here. The concept of 'you' isn't even formed until you are born, before that you could just be anyone.
Thank you SO much for another great informative video. I appreciate your input and the work you do a lot and I'm so happy I can watch everything you create. I had an abortion as I was 18 in the 10th/11th week. I, without a doubt, would not be here today if I had to have to go through that pregnancy. I'm very lucky that I had no problems with getting the abortion approved and the procedure done. One of the few good things in germany. I'm absolutely terrified of pregnancy. The whole thing is just nightmare fuel for me. I dislike kids with a passion and always did since I was little. (I'm turning 33 this year) My stance of a childfree life has never changed and WILL never change. I understand why people want children, I do. So, why can't these people understand us, who do NOT want children? It's mindboggling how a lot of of them feel so entitled to tell us what's best for us and how useless a life without children will be. How selfish of us, to not overpopulate the earth more and create more misery! How dare we!
A fetal heartbeat is super fast too. (110-160 bpm) Any parent who went to an OBGYN appointment can tell you that. They chose to use an adult heartbeat as propaganda.
For a bit more context, Roe v. Wade was a Supreme Court Case that ruled that women have the right to an abortion under the fourth amendment, aka the right to privacy. Roe wasn't the woman's real name in the case, it was to keep her anonymous. Trying to overturn the Roe v. Wade verdict is not only concerning in terms of abortion, but it may concern women's autonomy in general. I don't mean to scare anyone, as it probably would not be a good idea for the Supreme Court to try to overturn other verdicts, and Congress and the Executive Branch do have ways to check the Court. The Supreme Court just makes verdicts, it has no way of putting them into action without the President or Congress.
Society needs to start being honest about how hard pregnancy can be on the body. It can even be deadly and no one should be forced to go through it if they don't want to. I'm 30 weeks into my 2nd (and last) pregnancy. in my first pregnancy I had pregnancy-induced psychosis. in both pregnancies I've thrown up so violently that I've torn my esophagus and thrown up stomach fulls of blood. my back is wrecked from both pregnancies.
The thing that drives me crazy about these anti-choice wingnuts is you can personally feel that abortion is wrong FOR YOU and still support that, for other people, it is a vital healthcare service. I'm someone who could never personally have an abortion unless it was compromising my health, but I am so very pro-choice because my needs are not the needs of everyone else in world.
And the thing is, the people who are staunchly anti-choice will 100% do whatever it takes to get their mistresses and daughters abortions when they fall pregnant
The talk about Cosmic Skeptic is saddening. I used to like his content years ago and thought he was likely to be an up and coming prodigy of the skeptic community but it really felt like right around when he went vegan he became very judgy and unlikable and his channel content completely changed. I never saw your video with him and had no idea he was anti-choice. What a disappointment. That said though, incredibly informative video here Rachel, I didn't even know a lot of these facts so I'm glad to have been educated on the subject.
Yes. I was also shocked to hear something an argument as stupid as "you are too emotionally invested in abortions as a woman to evaluate critically". Like excuse me? By that logic no one can advocate for their own rights becuase they are too emotionally invested in, you know, having rights?
@@morgianasartre6709 Exactly! Like, _of course_ we'd be emotionally invested in the topic of abortion, because it's literally something that affects _our own bodies!_ How could someone think that's somehow a negative? It's another unfortunate example of a cis man thinking he should have more right to tell us what to do with our bodies than we should have to decide for ourselves.
@@morganwilliams5591 Caaaaalm down there NiGHTS, you're getting too emotional.....! You're not even huuuuman XP But yes, if we show no emotion we're not taken seriously either??? Which way do they want it? Because I'm not taking 'no way at all' for an answer. Do they want 'Emotional to show we care and are serious' or 'emotionless so as to not be judged but be thought of as heartless and ignored'??
this was quite disappointing to me too. i was never interested in CosmicSkeptic's vegan content but watched some of his videos about philosophy and counterapologetics. i've seen a video or two of him being way more respectful towards apologists making weak arguments for the existence of the abrahamic god than he seems to have been towards Rachel. it's always disheartening to see the skeptic community engaging in the same misogynistic behavior that they call out in religious folks.
@@morgianasartre6709That is literally a joke in bojack horseman "If I got pregnant I would not get an abortion. Because I will never be in that situation myself I am unbiased"
I appreciate your use of inclusive language in this video! consuming content about reproductive rights can be somewhat fraught as a member of the trans community and it's so nice to see someone taking that into consideration while educating others about the issue.
I appreciate you covering the kids' faces. The LeBrants treat their kids horribly for views. They pull "pranks" on their kids, including convincing their kids that they would get rid of their pets, and making a whole video making fun of their daughter for her browsing history. Their kids are visibly upset in these videos, and the parents just keep shoving cameras in the kids' faces laughing at them. Family channels are messed up. The kids' lives are put on display for millions of strangers, they didn't consent to it, and so much that happens on these family channels are manufactured for views. The kids are going to grow up not knowing what is a real, genuine experience with their parents and what is a cheap play for clickbait. Of course people like the LeBrants aren't going to have a very firm grasp of consent and body autonomy.
"pro-love", huh...awfully loving of the probirth movement to also overwhelmingly support cutting benefits, welfare, and school funding for sex ed (and in general). nothing gives a precious little baby the fuzzy wuzzies like denying its mother parental leave and food stamps 🥰
I’m watching this while nursing my three week old daughter that is very much wanted and planned. I enjoyed being pregnant and I love being a mother and yet I’m now even more vocal about being pro-choice than I’ve ever been. Neither pregnancy nor childbirth are easy, both mentally and physical and being forced to go through this against one’s will is absolutely cruel. Also i was in the very privileged position to live in a country that legally protects you during pregnancy and postpartum in so many ways (full paid maternity leave, getting time off for all doctors appointments during working hours, etc) but so many women don’t even have that.
Prolife really is just forced pregnancy. But the truth isn't pretty so they have to lie to get people to side with them Btw idk if it was you or the original uploaders who obscured the faces of the children in the video, but if it was you, thank you, protect their privacy online
I had an abortion. I was 22 and had just become pregnant after rape. My body had an allergic reaction to my pregnancy. I kept it secret for so long because A) not anyone's business and B) I feared backlash.
Thank you so much for this clear and compassionate video. What's clear to me is that these are sheltered and privileged people who hardly, if ever, encounter and acknowledge lives that are lived differently from their own. Because their beliefs have never been challenged, they feel completely justified ignoring the validity of billions of experiences that have nothing to do with their own. This causes them to feel it fair to disallow schools to teach safer sex practices to their students because they feel that sex before marriage *should* not happen in the first place. Typically, in America, those who are socially conservative err on the side of fiscal conservatism, as well. They frequently vote into power those who wish to cut funding to social safety programs which support disadvantaged citizens. Or politicians who will fight to prevent birth control being covered by insurance because their taxes should not be used to promote "promiscuity." To have your stated position be that life is precious ergo abortions are bad then there has to be some amount of consistency to that position. If life is precious then every one of them should feel comfortable supporting welfare, SNAP, WIC, and food stamps with their taxes. If abortions are bad then they should 10000% support the prevention of unwanted pregnancies by educating everyone on how to use condoms, the available varieties of birth control, and what enthusiastic consent is and is not. Absent such consistency, their point is entirely clear: those with a uterus deserve to be punished for having sex outside of our narrow scope of cultural beliefs. Which is not love in the slightest.
I've never understood people who say, "You had unsafe sex (or any sex at all) and now you have to deal with the consequences". What about the child that's going to be born? What if that child is born into an abusive, impoverished, or threatened home? Why should the child also have to suffer the consequences? By punishing the mother, you are also punishing somebody who had no other choice. That, in my opinion, is a greater act of cruelty than an abortion.
People do not realise how dangerous pregnancy can be or how it can ruin a woman’s body. My mum nearly died giving birth to me. She had pre-eclampsia which turned into full-blown eclampsia. Bottom line: she was lucky to survive. She WANTED to have me but the toil being pregnant with me took on her body. Though she never outright told me, it was those complications through pregnancy that also resulted in her kidney problems; one stopped working and had to be ‘deactivated’ while the other was working a minimum capacity, enough where she wouldn’t require dialysis. It’s only now I’m an adult I realised just how much risk she put herself through and the lasting effect pregnancy had on her body. I lost her after I just turned 22. I love my mother more than anything even though she’s no longer with me - but I can’t bear the thought that any woman risk putting her body through this process unless it’s 100% what she wants.
I live in America, and I just turned 24 a few days ago. I had a meeting with my psychiatrist the day before my birthday, really nice guy and all that. However, he started saying that he wanted to wean me off of some of my medications so I could have children. I told him that I didn't want kids and the thought of being pregnant greatly disturbs and distresses me. Again, I want to stress that he is a very good doctor, he has taken care of me for years. However, he basically said I would change my mind or that I'll want kids someday. No, I don't want kids. My self worth shouldn't be dictated to having children. I'm an artist and I just don't see a future where I would be happy with kids. Maybe I'll adopt, maybe I won't. I just know that I don't want to be pregnant and have biological kids, especially due to genetics and the environment right now.
Also like it’s hard to overstate the effect that the war on Roe v. Wade is having on the American public right now. Because states can and do effectively make abortion illegal by just closing down all but one clinic and then regulating it to make it extremely ineffective, this current legal battle seems to be about more than just abortion (ex: the senate in Louisiana is attempting to ban IUDs, Texas banned medicines that are used to treat miscarriages, and in states like Arkansas and Alabama women have been arrested for having miscarriages). A lot of ppl are deleting period tracking apps because they don’t want the government to have access to information about their cycles which could potentially be used against them. Even if this is a far fetched idea right now, the point is we are currently in a state of paranoia. The fact that they live in America, surely saw all this happening and STILL thought this was a good video to post right now is unbelievable.
Anyways I really appreciate you bringing awareness to this topic and speaking about it so passionately even though you aren’t American. I hadn’t really considered yet what the international opinion on this was.
Absolutely, in the UK people have discreet and easy access. Which means early when unwanted pregnancy. Making someone raise funds for abortion, cost of travel to the one clinic, overnight accommodation, or sleep in the car you managed to borrow, and some places having waiting time. We'll fine if rich enough, but poor, or scared to ask others for help due to stigma and by the time they reach the clinic the embyro is significantly further on, not to mention having to plead sick from work, or at risk of loosing job after the days needed away when you didn't have any leave allowance..
Thank you so much for doing a thorough job of this, Rachel, abortion is such a huge topic to cover. If there is one thing to say about it, though, I think it's that when Roe v. Wade passed in 1973 there was no reaction here in the U.S. It wasn't until years later, around the time Reagan was elected in 1980, that republicans found out that it was a very effective political tool, that Roe v. Wade started being used as propaganda so much, and that's what is still going on here.
I am currently 14 weeks pregnant with my first. I'm 1000000% pro-choice. I can say first hand that pregnancy is not at all easy. It's very hard emotionally and physically. It's uncomfortable and miserable. I can completely understand why someone would want to abort. This is very hard and exhausting. If you aren't ready for this, you shouldn't have to go through it
6:35 an additional inaccuracy with the use of that heartbeat sound effect is that it's clearly an adult heartbeat - a fetus' heart will beat at 120-160 bpm, so anyone who has heart fetal heart tones will quickly recognize the heartbeat sound effect as much too slow
There was a semi recent study trying to determine when exactly is death. They measured the electric impulses of the heart after flatline. It was still firing. It just wasn’t enough to restart the heart, and often even if it did, it would only beat for some ten seconds before stoping again. Basically they proved that it was appropriate to call death after five minutes of flatline, even if there were still electric signals. That reminds me of fetal development. The cells are firing but there aren’t even heart chambers until week 9
If I become pregnant, my already unhealthy body couldn’t take it. I’m underweight, I’m aneamic, I’m mentally ill, I experience chronic pain, etc. the fact that pro-forced birth people wouldn’t care about that scares me. They would let me suffer just for something I don’t want and something they don’t want to keep. I’m financially unstable, giving birth would leave me with a ruined body and ruined mental health… it’s awful that they wouldn’t care about that. “Choose both” that’s bullshit
I'm a pre-transition transman. The very idea of babies and pregnancy makes me physically sick. The idea that my body has the ability to host a parasite that I never *ever* want makes me want to crawl out of my skin and escape. Periods also remind me of this awful fact. Thankfully I'm ace, so I don't have to worry about potential pregnancies, but hell, if I wasn't... I would react the same way as you Rachel, if I became pregnant and couldn't have a way out, I would kill myself without a second thought. No potential future is worth it if my body had to go through something not only so phsyically painful, but mentally traumatising.
I'm not trans myself, but I can relate to everything you just said. I wish I could get my reproductive organs removed so I don't have to be reminded of the fact that it's possible for me (I'm also ace as well). It all just grosses me out to my core, it's my worst nightmare! I don't understand why people glorify it so much.
@@v3nom0us_v1per :c If only doctors actually let us make decisions about our bodies without having to fight for it. Luckily being trans gives me an easy out, before that I was just like you. @@moonspider7 So, as a replsed ace because that means naff all apparently, should I dare start saying I'm trans? I barely think of myself as female to begin with, nevermind human so....? same hat! I'm transmasc (pre-transition), and pregnancy is straight-up body horror in my mind. I'm very grateful that I'm ace and don't have to wrestle with the fear of becoming pregnant (as long as my boundaries and bodily autonomy remain respected), but the legislation and sentiments going on in the US right now are so disgusting and scary to see >:-/
The fact that anti-abortion laws are being passed in some places here in the US is disgusting. Both my pregnancies were terrible (very bad morning sickness until the very end both times, as well as hip displacement that still affects me now) and I wouldn't want to force that on any woman if they didn't want it. Nevermind the weight gain and other after effects. Choice matters. It's their body.
Just wanted to add that misoprostol isn’t only used for abortions and miscarriage. I recently got an iud inserted and I was given misoprostol to dilate my cervix. They are trying to ban these drugs in certain states bc of abortions
I gotta rewatch but loved the video. All of your points were spot on and good criticisms of these horrible beliefs against what should be a human right for all people with uteruses. My family has a history with abortion before it became legal, resulting in a family member dying of a back alley abortion. No one should be dying to get something that should be a personal, body choice
Watching this as someone who lives in Texas was very shocking. The fack that people have access to free and safe abortion is so crazy to me and I wish we had that. Sometimes I forget that government can be reasonable.
kind reminder for everyone as well: you can have conflicting feelings if you’ve gone through this. it’s absolutely okay if it was completely devastating and at the same time the best way it could’ve gone. be patient with yourself and kind to yourself ❤️
I'm non binary and AFAB, which means I can get pregnant. I had a pregnancy scare about a month ago and broke down crying in front of my mother when she asked if I was pregnant after being nauseous every day for a whole week. I took 2 pregnancy tests and it turns out I wasn't pregnant (thank fUCK), it was just my anxiety manifesting the symptoms. Point being we can't financially support a baby and it would also cause me severe mental anguish, along with severe dysphoria to the point that I don't even know what I would do. It's not just about "oh I'm a little scared of having a baby uwu" it's life and death, even when the pregnancy itself isn't physically dangerous to the pregnant person.
yes, exactly. i’m also non-binary and afab. getting pregnant is just about my WORST nightmare. thankfully i don’t live in america, but the thought of how many people could get fucked over by roe v. wade being overturned is horrifying. people do not understand how much being pregnant and giving birth can change someone’s life in negative ways.
@@greage I don't live in America either, but my family is pretty fucking poor and abortions are expensive where I live (300 euros +). It's a serious issue that abortions aren't affordable, but it's an even bigger issue if they are completely inaccessible! What's happening in America right now is simply put: inhumane.
Here’s what’s most crushing for me about this debate: pro-lifers don’t care about the people who want abortions. They literally don’t care about how traumatic it is for a rape victim to have to bring their rapist’s pregnancy to term. They don’t care if there’s a possibility that the pregnancy can hurt or kill the one carrying it. They don’t care if the person carrying the fetus is too young or in a bad financial situation. Nothing that we say will ever convince them because pro-choice arguments are compassionate towards pregnant people, and pro-lifers have no compassion for pregnant people.
My mom has preeclampsia. Thankfully we both survived but it still ended up being traumatic for my family. BOTH of us almost died. We got lucky, but we shouldn't be banking on "lucky" for everyone. Especially with the terrible maternity fatality rate for a developed country in America. But also, LET US BE SELFISH. Even if the pregnant person is 100% healthy, safe, and economically sound, I think they should still be given a choice because NOT EVERYONE WANTS A CHILD. And finally about the "just use protection", obviously they are most of the time... but there's a failure risk which is also larger due to user error which isn't always considered. Aaaaand the "pro-lifers" are trying to ban contraceptives too. :/
My mother was done with family planning after she had my brother. She didn't want a second kid. But years later she got pregnant with me and only kept me because my father and grandparents were super happy about it. And I'd like to say it shows. My mother is really cold towards me, sometimes verbally abusive. Well shit, I'd rather go back in time and have her abort me, than sit here feeling depressed.
So sorry to hear that. Even if your parents wanted you, there can still go alot wrong. My parents never admitted that i had mental health problems. Parents have to be ready for both health and physical nursing. It can do so much damage, as I sadly witnessed on my own self. Like, i cant even work rn, cant sleep somewhere else than home. Am afraid of people. People shouldn’t be forced to have children, if they cant make sure, they get the childhood they deserve.
I'm sorry to hear that. Have you considered therapy? Nobody should feel unwanted all their life. As a parent I can say it is not quite plausible that there is a direct link between your mother being verbally abusive and having not wanted you before your birth. Once the baby is there, it is a whole new story. Even most people who regret parenthood usually point out that they would never erase their children.
This is fantastic to see and I am so happy about it!

pregnancy should be talked about more realistically and seriously. and not so romanticized. women come out of child birth traumatized from the lack of understanding to the costs of labor
no one tells us the truth! even other women after becoming mothers feel the need to continue the cycle and pretend its all rainbow and sunshines! when its horrifying! glad the labrants havent witnessed the horror of it but i wouldnt be surprised if eventually they did.
Absolutely this!

You're telling this to people that don't listen to reason and only have blinders on the bible
@mnch why is it hard for men to give up sex and female attention?
Former PP worker. We had a 13 year come in with her Mom. Both pregnant by abusive husband/father. It would be torture to force both to continue their pregnancies. We also helped both get into a shelter. I recommend watching “If These Walls Could Talk” about abortion rights.

Exactly pregnancy and child birth are traumatic near death experiences. It pains you physically and mentally even in the best of circumstances. It is inhumane to force that upon someone
Sanity AND physical safety
It seriously is nuts how people act like pregnancy is nothing to go thru. I had a healthy, uneventful pregnancy and it was still HARD. Your journey sounds almost unbearable, and I’m so glad you made it thru. I hope for all our sakes that we all can access the medical help we need when we need it.
Pregnancy and childbirth can be very traumatic and cause lots of complications. Making a woman go through that against her will is abusive
exactly; im still a teen but my expected height as an adult would be no taller than 5’.
Completely agree with this.
From a first hand experience pregnancy and giving birth is hard.

Exactly!
Showing children videos of miscarriages should be considered a federal crime!

shout it from the rooftops!
It’s been proven that education about and access to birth control actually reduces the rate of abortions, but you’ll never see any of these angry people committed to proper sex education. They don’t want abortion to go away, they want it to be _punished._
That requires work, and empathy

I agreed. I love my child, but over a year after giving birth I still often experience pain from the “minor” complication I had.

It’s insane how much misinformation is being spread, and the shame around abortion. It’s heartbreaking :c

Disinformation= me intentionlly saying something untrue to try to appeal to emotion about a topic. ("Documentaries" should have no false information.)
I look up every amount of deaths that they have misinformed and it the more I compare to the fact, the more madder I got cause they have to make it more dramatic

On the adoption point, many people who have been adopted have spoken about how traumatic adoption is and now using adoption as a “gotcha” point is treating babies as a commodity. Worth looking into the impact of adoption on adoptees
Yes! I’ve actually seen this a lot in my antinatalist groups: many adopted people angry at the casual “oh just adopt!”
this, from what i know a lot of adopted people say becoming a foster parent and fostering to reunite families and only adopting if absolutely necessary (to not take away any possible families being able to be put back together) but i think adoption would be a great video idea to delve deep into and get us outsiders an understanding of what children in adoption and foster care go through !
I am a Muslim too and I completely agree with you
I dont think religious people should be banned from medicine tbh but I do believe they need to put their believes aside in the name of medicine, they need to separate their religion to their career
Big respect to you for holding your beliefs and understanding medicines place too 👏🏻
*Also I didn’t know that Islam accepted abortion until 4 months so thank you for letting people know
It is disgusting that they are using pregnancy as punishment. Abortion is not a way to escape responsibility. Having one is a responsible decision if you know you are not ready. Abortion is healthcare and it's a private medical issue. Your body, your choice. Not your body, not your business. Great video!
Yeah!

*Note: this is US-centric and also references some fairly graphic bodily injury to make a point*
And moreover, it's punishing women for men getting obsessed over them - because the "pro-life" people won't even so much as support the band-aid of teaching women self-defense (certainly not the most surefire way to keep you abstinent - that is, permitting women to carry a dagger on their person and teaching women how to castrate any male creeps on the spot with that dagger, even though they have no problem allowing the far deadlier assault rifles).
@Matt Wong putting every person who has a pro life view into a box like that is beyond ignorant.

My closest Planned Parenthood is approximately 20 or so miles away)
THIS is why I became so interested in reproductive health among other things. Some suburban blonde and her polo husband didn't go through shit and do not speak for me. Their voices are of no greater value than mine and they should not be advocating for such (for being anti choice I mean)

You are really intelligent to think like this.☺️
My mom just had her latest of 20 surgeries due complications from to having me and my brother, and just like your mother she only thought it was worth it because she wanted children.

I would never be able to love a young child, I am almost certain.

As an American I just wanted to make a small correction to the intro.
I know so many people who have lived sad, impoverished lives because of being denied abortions as 14-year olds. I can guarantee that their mental health, financial circumstances, and addiction status would have been better had they not been forced into raising babies when they were only babies. Especially in North America, there is this perception that all a baby needs is love when that is so far from the truth. Children are a massive financial and emotional commitment that lasts for the rest of your life.
Came here to say the same thing. I have a friend with serious tokophobia, I didn't realize it was a thing until they told me about it.
If someone was worried about the baby, they'd be sad, angry, or something other than amused.
facts!!!
true for so many and they have an overly simple view of the thing.
They expect them to keep every child that comes from unprotected sex and then they're the same ones who will then proceed to shame that couple for having so many kids.
If the pro life people were really pro life they would work to make the lives of the children that already exist better.
But to them the children in need apparently need to pull themselves by their bootstraps. They’re literally just pro forced birth
yesssss. I have pro-life family who bitch about "welfare queens" and I'm over here like... sooooooo life ends at birth I guess
this, but they refuse to.
Their too busy abusing their own children tho
Safe wishes I hope the rest of the pregnancy goes as smoothly as possible
I like the statement 'they're not pro-life, they're pro-birth' they don't care about the quality of life the kid will have, they just care that the child is born.
even more than pro-birth, they're anti-choice. they care more about controlling and punishing women more than anything.
I feel that statement to be very true.
Facts I as a person would have had it better weren't I born lol they don't care
"I need a hysterectomy, having children will kill me."
"Buh futuh hubbuh"
"Tough, I ent marrying. System out please. It kill me."
"Buh futuh hubbbuuhhhhhhh."
"... What part of 'I DIE' do you not understand?"
"Uh lady humuh make baby humuh."
"FFS."
Honestly why are they thicker than pig poo?
I'm very sorry you have to suffer to these conditions. Wish you well ❤️
Also, that doctor who talked about the D&E abortion said she had an abortion and now she's pro-life because of what she witnessed in the D&E while in medical school seems to be completely oblivious that she more than likely would have never made it through medical school if she hadn't had an abortion.
Alternatively, many late-term abortion happened because of the foetuses developing extremely wrongly or something really bad happened.
@@DeathProductions200
And it shows that you have no good argument. If you did, you'd give it, not appeal to emotions.

Thank you so much for speaking about this so politely and eloquently with informative facts, Rachel!
Thank you!!
That guy was basically saying "shut up and spread your legs." Sick!🤢
Thanks again for continuing to speak out on these issues when I'm sure you receive some nasty comments/backlash for it. Also doing the research and scripting for this video was probably mentally exhausting as well. I appreciate you!
Thank you so much
The idea that I could be forced to birth a child when I am barely able to take care of myself and don't even feel comfortable taking on a pet because I don't feel I could provide for it is terrifying.
Ah, so it's like a mouse heartbeat? (Matilda popping into my head XD)
At least I know I don't have to worry if I hear one that small going that fast.

Well now the argument of “using no abortion as anti women” is invalid so you guys need to find another one…
But the truth isn't pretty so they have to lie to get people to side with them
Btw idk if it was you or the original uploaders who obscured the faces of the children in the video, but if it was you, thank you, protect their privacy online
Or politicians who will fight to prevent birth control being covered by insurance because their taxes should not be used to promote "promiscuity."
To have your stated position be that life is precious ergo abortions are bad then there has to be some amount of consistency to that position.
This! Absolutely this!!!!
America really is a horrifying dystopia 😱
Can you cite the study, pleaseee.
I'd like to give it a read.

When it comes to this topic they really do reduce us to our sexual organs and nothing else, its frankly just not good enough .
@@moonspider7 So, as a replsed ace because that means naff all apparently, should I dare start saying I'm trans? I barely think of myself as female to begin with, nevermind human so....? XD
But I understand it's a big thing I shouldn't joke about even if it's for my happiness which I should be able to get at SOME point in my life?
same hat! I'm transmasc (pre-transition), and pregnancy is straight-up body horror in my mind. I'm very grateful that I'm ace and don't have to wrestle with the fear of becoming pregnant (as long as my boundaries and bodily autonomy remain respected), but the legislation and sentiments going on in the US right now are so disgusting and scary to see >:-/
I am surprised at how many afabs would also kill themselves on the spot if they got pregnant, because hey, me too.
Every child deserves a parent but not every parent deserves a child
Just wanted to add that misoprostol isn’t only used for abortions and miscarriage. I recently got an iud inserted and I was given misoprostol to dilate my cervix. They are trying to ban these drugs in certain states bc of abortions
In many countries it is used to assist childbirth, which is part of why their C-section rate is 6-10%, compared with over 30% in the US.
I gotta rewatch but loved the video. All of your points were spot on and good criticisms of these horrible beliefs against what should be a human right for all people with uteruses.
My family has a history with abortion before it became legal, resulting in a family member dying of a back alley abortion. No one should be dying to get something that should be a personal, body choice
do they even realize how hard pregnancy & childbirth actually is????
I don't think they care. Women / girls are just pregnancy / birthing vessels to them.
Nobody told them banning abortion won't ever make people stop getting abortion
Watching this as someone who lives in Texas was very shocking. The fack that people have access to free and safe abortion is so crazy to me and I wish we had that. Sometimes I forget that government can be reasonable.
Groups like Aid Access and Las Libres ship abortion pills nationwide.
kind reminder for everyone as well: you can have conflicting feelings if you’ve gone through this. it’s absolutely okay if it was completely devastating and at the same time the best way it could’ve gone. be patient with yourself and kind to yourself ❤️
