I still stand by the opinion that mabinogi is one of the best mmos ever made, really captures the virtual world vibe that .Hack created in the early 2000’s, and followed up with SAO. Really wish they had kept their graphics up to date like Eve Online did, but glad to see this now.
I actually love the aesthetic of Mabinogi. I was driven away from it because of the insanely bad UI and controls and some of the sleaziness that ran behind the scenes. I really hope it gets a revival worthy of the interest it created in me when I first saw it, the premise is very good.
Wow this is interesting. Usually, they just make a complete new version of the game rather than doing this so i'm quite rooting for Nexon on completing such ambitious project.
My guess is because new MMOs these days have been struggling to get a foothold. Heck, Nexon even had a Mabinogi 2 in development for a bit before canceling it. They made a Maplestory 2, and it launched and didn't do well enough and the servers got taken down. I think what they are realizing is... it's better to update their current games that are successful rather than trying to make a new version of them that will likely never do as well. It's also loads cheaper than creating an entirely new game. Plus, players don't lose access to all the content that's been built up throughout the years.
@mmobyte they just posted detials for an update that everyone is upset about. They are adding limits entries to conntent that didn't have it before over drop rates. Also, the players them selves have concerns after what we learned from the law suit on maple story and the dynamic rng patent they have that may or may not be also in mabinogi.
I cant wait for this to come out! I tried out mabinogi like 2 years ago but the controls, ui, and graphics were so out of date from other mmorpgs i was playing at the time, that i dropped it after like a week.

As a mabinogi vet since 2009 the current state of mabinogi leaves me in a mixed bag of emotions but overall it’s a wonderful and detailed experience for anyone looking for an mmo. After close to 100k levels and hundreds of rebirths I’ve made tons of friends and the combat is really enjoyable. I know it’s hard to consider given nexons reputation but considering it’s free I say give it a try!
I always wanted to play most of Nexon MMOs "without any issues". The region locked prevented me from doing so. I want to experience without being confined to use a VPN. Some hope I still have.
iv been playing mabi for almost 15 years no other mmorpg has the same mouth feel for me mabinogi has everything i want in a mmorpg and overall a nice and helpful community...
and now that Nexon has been found guilty of actively rigging drop rates and such things as higher playtimes and being more active and having friends on your friends list lowers your drop rates in game and in the paid shop Gashapons i feel that my time spent and love of mabinogi has been a huge waste and betrayed...
Amusingly enough this game isn't as dead as a lot of people think they were able to afford several vtuber sponsorships, they are even getting voice acting with the NPCs, they actually had commercials on RUclips, the only main issue is that the game is ran by nexon and the game mechanics need improvement
I’ve been playing this on and off probably since the first 1-2 years after release. To my nostalgia-tinted eyes, the game looks the same but softer around the edges. But I know the visual fidelity of this trailer is what I’ve wanted others to see for so long 😂 I’m very excited to see this game get an engine revamp and honestly hope this brings in tons of new players.
Hey @MMOByte, is it strange for me to say that I still play Nexon/KRU's DARK AGES game back from 1999? It's the only game from Nexon that I truly loved, and still like to this day.

It was my first MMO man, played on KR then EU then NA and quit (it was time after 5 years). Played FFXIV afterwards, stopped after Endwalker (it was time after 6-7 years). I would absolutely love to play Mabi again, been a long time. This video gave me too much nostalgia.
Outdated viewpoint. The game has gotten a lot of quality of life updates, and the new director on Mabi Team is good. The game is not dead! I'm an active player and the numbers has actually increased recently. Many players play through the Nexon launcher, and not on Steam. It's big in Korea servers. The game is very much alive. I must note that peak hours for westerners is when the americans get on, thats when channel 1 is full

It's crazy to think that the first time I played mabinogi was 16 years ago, during G2S3. I only learned about Eternity today because I was curious to see what has been going on with Mabinogi. Always check every now and then to see what updates have occurred. With all that said... Nexon is still a company to this day that I hate. I stopped playing the game because I just cannot stand their monetization practices. Mainly in regards to their obnoxious gacha/loot box crap that has extremely low odds on the things you want from it.

You can't change your race on rebirth, also eternity is a port to a new engine. Its also not something that's happening in 2024, you should probably have a more informative title.

Is it really THAT ambitious? It's a graphics upgrade, not mechanics or gameplay overhaul. Mabinogi's biggest hurdle to getting new players to this day is still how awful the combat and overall gameplay feels.
Nexon killed my love: Maple Story 2, I highly doubt they will be able to resurrect Mabinogi, I know that it's going to be full of micro-transactions that are extremely unfair both gameplay & just money greedy wise, Knowing Nexon they'll make everything seem fine within the first 3 months then nose dive the game into the ground for "Well being" of the players...

For people to return to Mabinogi Nexon needs to do a bunch of stuff that they would never do, which is why I am very skeptical about what they are currently doing, since they are investing lots of funds into a game that has been on life support for years, and they will try to get those funds from somewhere as Nexon is a very greedy company, so ultimately they may end up just killing the game, especially how a lot of people that used to enjoy the game had crap computers, and with the new visuals and even new engine which is rumored to be Unreal Engine, it just means that you will need a pretty beefy computer to just run the game...

Then the community is ass because when I asked for help no one even answered or told me to F off and google the shit and when I wanted to join a guild I had to be level 1000 or no one would want and idiot like me.
You can join the Lewdy guild. I was in that one and everyone is very kind, friendly and helpful. Beginner friendly casual guild, guild for everyone really. The guild stone is at beginner town Thir Chornaill, at the area somewhere behind the portal, Mana Tunnel i think its called. A shame you had such as experience, when was this? The Mabi world wiki is like a bible. There is also great documents, FAQs and help on the subreddit, it has its own wiki area. If it was a while ago you played, there is now a new beginner questline called the Blaanid questline. It is to help beginners learn about the game and catch up and progress and its a big quality of life. I don't know when it was added, maybe 2017.
