    Purchased: August 2022 - still works GREAT! ruclips.net/user/postUgkxxsUnXhGsSJLim_XnMHyQK0u3XVaW-CGn I live in a studio and during the summer it gets scorching hot - really old building with no ac units. I can’t express how EASY it was to install.This unit has been a life savior during the summer and some days during other seasons where it can still be a bit warm at night. In this small place is my friend, a husky, poodle mix and myself. We need AC - lolI don’t use the dehumidifier option - I’m not sure if it will leak in my house, since I did not install the small draining hose that came with it. May look into it late but I don’t worry about much humidity in the apartment.I don’t understand why the negative reviews since all things mentioned, I personally did not find issues with. Definitely worth it!

    Thank you very much! I just purchased a brand new Toshiba, I was kinda confused about the setup for the drain. I wasn't sure what to do, since I'm only going to use for air conditioning you really clarified the issue for me. Great RUclips video ❤

    I just purchased the same one and I had to add a hose to mine. I got the “P1” alert to drain it after 4 hrs. After that I had it on for about 12 hours and it drained 1.5 qt of water. It is draining into a 4 qt empty ice cream jug! I live in the south (USA) it was 96 degrees F. Humidity is about 60% -96% this time of yr. I sealed off my only window with bubble reflective thermal shield and it is an ice cube in my room!!!!!

  • @TexasBeekeeper

    In a very humid climate, that drain could fill up fairly fast. For example, if you take the ac camping in a humid climate, you would most likely want to attach a drain hose, or else you would be emptying it every 4-8 hours. But like you said, if it's indoors and not very humid, they self evaporate and don't need draining often or ever. Thanks for sharing

    • @baljitjohal
      @baljitjohal  2 года назад +3

      I think heat from ac also helping drying water but if using as humidifier than most likely need drain permanent

    I am so confused about this Toshiba drain on my new Model # PX0811CWRU. 1. Another video says to put a huge water bucket and connect the hose from the top drain. I did that overnight and this morning a 3 gallon bucket was full of water. 2. Another video said to actually connect the hose from the top drain (cold water )to the low drain (hot water) 3. Now your video says keep both drains closed and empty every X time. With the amount of water I saw this morning on that 3 gallon bucket I am not sure leaving both drains closed would be safe. Please help. So confused.

    • @baljitjohal
      @baljitjohal  29 дней назад

      Yes dear I know it’s confusing but all are right in certain situations
      First depends on where you located if you have high humidity you will get lot of water when you use as humidifier
      2nd this unit made for self dry heat from motor compressor will dry water if you keep closed
      3rd if you have to contact hose and bucket it doesn’t make any since to having portable AC
      Also if you keep drain closed and just in case it get filled with water you will get code on AC not sure what but you will get code
      So now it is depend on you how you feel more comfortable
      You not moving too much then have drain and put buckets to catch water
      Or you can drain once a while

    Baljit' I have an update, I've been running my new Toshiba portable air conditioner for 15 hours now, for the last 2 hours I decided to install the drain hose to my unit and the strangest thing I had quite a a bit of water accumulating in the gallon jug makeshift water container. That's weird how some of these units accumulate more water than others. Oh well. Bye-bye!

    • @baljitjohal
      @baljitjohal  3 месяца назад +1

      I think I was looking into 1st reason these unit dried with heat from unit they made that way self water soak
      2nd depending on where you live if you have humidity then you will get more water

    If you cant run a tubing out for the drain i would recommend keep a small bucket to collect all that condensate. If you keep on letting that condensate hangout inside it will eventually mess it up. In case you dont know. Condensate is highly corrosive. Best to keep that water out at all times. Easier to put a small bucket and flush it in the toilet daily.

    • @baljitjohal
      @baljitjohal  2 года назад +1

      I wish in my case it is in my son room since it is portable and have wheels it keep moving and I know my son will not care about if water dripping out of buckets and it will damage my wood laminate floor
      If it is possible not moving than bucket is option
      Also if you can live without moving around AC unit best option other window AC unit more efficient and safe
      But we can all manage with our needs and how we want

    • @441meatloaf
      @441meatloaf 2 года назад +1

      Toshiba itself said condensate generally dont need to be drained unless you are living in humid conditions. Otherwise non-humid fairly dry areas produce minor condensate that does not need to be drained.

      Similar issue, but more severe. With both plugs closed, mine constantly drains and created a pretty bad water spot in my carpet. Humidity where I live is not a huge issue so I have no idea where all this water came from. For you, it may be as simple as mild condensation accumulated on the fins of the condenser which isn't a major problem, but for me, I'm looking at a potentially cracked tray, cause the damage to my carpet is pretty substantial. Super frustrating seeing as this product cost me 400 US Dollars...

    • @baljitjohal

      I haven’t seen this issue even drain full it will not go through vent

    Water randomly stopped coming out of mine. I used it last summer because our AC went out.. then didn’t start using it again until a few weeks ago, and I only have it on every once and a while(for like an hour or two max at a time before I go to bed). I have a tube going from mine to a bucket at all times. I just noticed it hasn’t been draining water like it did when I got it.. I can’t tell if the stupid thing is broken now. It still works and blows cold air, but where is the water? Going to be super upset if I have to drop another 350 on another one. I’m not good at fixing this type of stuff so I’m pretty stressed, any guidance from anyone would really be appreciated because I’m beyond stressed(not just this I am having a pretty rough month). Thanks guys.
