Remember to filter out sediment before spraying.
It's best to by the Transfast dyes in liquid alcohol for mixing with shellac.

Alcohol will not soften the glue, therefore it won't remove any wood glue in the pores, but alcohol based dyes will dye dried oil finish, and some oil finishes will be absorbed by the glue. I recommend that you sand as far down as you dare, then apply a thin coat of teak oil finish to the top, then wipe the excess residue very well. Let is dry for one full day, before dying. Use alcohol based leather dyes mixed with teak-oil. Apply and wipe dry. Repeat until the color reaches the density you desire. DO NOT apply leather dye to dry wood, unless you are certain that it will not absorb unevenly. Test all dying procedures on scrap wood.

You can also wipe the surface with Denatured Alcohol to see if there is any residue or impurities on the surface before you apply finish. It leaves no residue once it dries.

yeah, I went on to the titebond website and they suggest acetone, trouble is, the veneer is so thin and it's attached through vacuum that some of it penetrates through. If you're really lucky , you may get a really clean top that can take a stain evenly, but not in my case.... lol

@@voodoocreek6219 Totally agree! I use it to find hidden glue smears or silicone when staining and lacquering trim, windows and cabinetry. Once you stain, it's almost too late! Looks great so far, I look forward to the finished product!

Key means to matt or scuff the surface, to provide grip for another coat.
