    You can make them longer with a squared middle, with a 2 1/2" strip, use a ruler with a 45° angle. Cut 2 strips together, right and left side pieces together, with a straight edge, then flip the ruler for a 45. Separate the R & L then sew one from each pile, ... (french braid) into a long strip, all the angles will be outside. If you want 4 strips from your finished length, quarter the length. Or cut to desired length. Put the last triangle cut off, into the start area with partial seams. All your strip ends will be straight across. No waste, french braid quilt. Or scrappy idea, join on more as you get them.

      You are going to love making this. It is so much fun and this template makes it so easy. I would say I used a half yard from each color and I used four strips of the white for the top of the quilt. I hope that helps. A lot of times I am just using scraps so it is hard to know exactly how much I used. Thank you for watching and for your comment.

    I am a new subscriber to your youtube channel and would like to make the "easy braided pattern" you posted. However I need help determining how much fabric I will need to accomplish a given size...I am flexible but i have on hand a 20 piece half jelly roll and 1 yard of coordinating fabric in a cute Christmas motif I would love to use. I don't want to begin until i know an approximate size i can come up with based on those pieces?
    I can tell from your video that you get 10 mini hex pieces from one 42-44" strip but i wonder how many pieces you join together in each row and what size did you end up with?
    Can you or anyone here help me?

    • @sweetcountrylivinginmichigan
      @sweetcountrylivinginmichigan  Месяц назад

      Welcome to my channel! I am so glad you subscribed. I will try to help as much as I can. There are 34 blocks in each row on my quilt. With 4 rows total. I use a lot of scraps and really don't pay much attention to how much I am using. I know that is not very helpful. I did start out with this quilt buying 1 yard pieces of each design, but probably only used less than a half yard from each piece for this quilt. Good luck! I hope this helps and you are able to get it the exact size you want.

    • @sweetcountrylivinginmichigan
      @sweetcountrylivinginmichigan  Месяц назад +1

      I just put a link in the description box to the batting I used. It is the Warm and Natural brand. I just use only what I need for a baby quilt. I always buy a queen or king size so I have extra batting. I hope that helps. Thank you for your comment and for watching!
