The film is perfect. There is nothing excessive or lacking in the feature. Very witty and succinct, understated lines. The performances are neither superfluous or to restrained, just right. Conor's pathos is constantly palpable and discernible to the audience. All the songs are so attuned to each scene it accompanies (pardon my pun). For me, it's the best movie I saw this year, trumping all the Oscar winning and nominated films I saw.

Such a great film, it is a gay film but they don't get together but they do have a lot of romantic chemistry. The message of this film it is so heart warming. 5/5
Ariel Arnold Ned isn't gay it just made so you think he is because of how others treat him that you shouldn't treat someone just because others treat them that way
Wonder if I'll ever see a m/m film that doesn't include homophobia as a main theme. Like that I'll just get to enjoy the guy on guy aspect without a big message about homophobia and hatred.
JordieXblu I watched it and it's actually REALLY GOOD. At first I was disappointed about that. HOWEVER, I think it's actually more heartfelt if they're better friends first. Plus, everyone just SAYS Ned is gay, they just assume because he's artistic . If he is straight it shows that not all artistic boys are gay and not all manly sports players are straight. I wish there was a sequel so we could see them together, but I doubt there will be. It seems all the films I like don't get any follow up and the ones I hate do. However I think there's still a lot of material left. E.g Connery dads drinking, but most importantly if they go into a relationship.
If you want a good m/m film where the two boys end up being happily together, watch Maurice... it's so well-done and truly romantic, and has a happy ending. It's based on a novel by E M Forster, but I thought that the novel was way too short, haha!
