    Using the Panasonic LA-7 adapter and a cheaper version of the Canon D mounting ring I found the use of the 'soft' part of self adhesive Velcro tape an excellent method of padding out the ring to fit the LA 7.

    Hi Graham, I'm considering buying the Pany FZ 1000. Which of the 1.7 tele-extender lenses would you recommend, Sony, Panasonic, Olympus or other for the highest quality? Would you know the correct ring adapter to fit the FZ 1000? Thank you very kindly, Nic

      Hi Graham, what is the make of the Telecon Lens tube adapter? Thanks. Im planning to get one if I will get a teleconverter for the FZ200. thanks

      Mike Mier hi Mike, first you need to identify the lens - if you are going to use the LTE55 panasonic lens then look on amazon (or ebay) for LA7 adaptor tubes you will see a few third party ones there with 55mm thread - that's the one to choose. I had a 58mm sony lens so I went for one with 58mm threads from china on ebay.

    Hi Graham, excellent videos. I've just bought a Lumix FZ2000 and found your clips really helpful. What sort of teleconverter and tube adaptor could I use with this? Also, my pics seem a bit on the dull side even in good light. I know there are a lot of tweeks can be done with this camera - any suggestions?

    I bought an Olympus c-180 teleconveter at 52mm of diameter, it's correctly fit my Fz330 without any adaptater.
    But I can't even focus anything at mid-zoom level.
    Dit the adaptateur is necessary to put a teleconveter on my bridge?
    I need help!!

      Hello Gordon. I have tried to use ball and socket heads for this and the framing is almost impossible with such high magnification. A pan/tilt head is really needed and even so creep is always an issue when tightening them. I'll be doing a tripod review later this week and some of the "mistakes" I've made.

    Can I use the Sony telephoto lens (VCL-DH1758) that Graham is using in conjunction with Panasonic's DMW-LA7 conversion tube? I know a 55-58 step-up ring would be required for the physical connection. Are there optical problems with this combination? Thanks for the videos Graham!

    Hi, I am looking to get new camera at the moment, I have gone thru many of them.. and only couple caught my eye, they are PANASONIC DMC-FZ72 vs FUJIFILM FinePix HS50. They both are Bridge cameras and that's pretty much what I am looking for. Which one you would say is better one to go for? Or maybe you have something better to offer? I need good quality videos/pictures, decent zoom and simple to use, that's why I don't go for DSLR's. Thank you!

    thanks for some really informative and educative videos in general and the FZ200 ones in particular.
    if i may ask you a couple of questions,
    1. is the length of the extension tube important?
    2. does the length of the extension tube depend on the lens that is being used?
    3. can a teleconverter lens be used directly connected on the lens (as long as the thread diameter is matching)
    thanks for all the teaching so far, and hope to get answer to the question.
    regards

    And your pictures are always so beautiful and lovely !
    I have some questions :
    one question: I have the FZ200 with the original Panasonic extender tub and Teleconverter and I wonder how/if the stabilizer working with those ?
    Second question: The FZ150 had options to activate the image stabilizer in movie mode but I have hard time to find that option in the FZ200. Do you know if the FZ200 has anything in the menu options to activate image stabilizer ?

    I ought to use the tube with the teleconverter? Without the tube, the teleconv doesn't run correctly? Do you know where to find a compatible tube for my Lumix?

      you always need to support the telecon lenses somehow, that why Panasonic use the lens tubes. I had the FZ72 ans was not impressed with its performance and lack of basic features like a remote socket or external mic port so I sent it back.

    • @fourtwozero

    hi graham thanks for great video's. I'm looking for help new to photography apart from usual point and shoot. just treated my self to a FZ200 and have been watching your video's about teleconverters, wide angle lens and adapter tubes. have a limited budget so was looking at ebay but my head is buzzing with thread sizes etc. I was looking at multi lens filter sets that seam to have every thing required except the tubes for about £50 but not sure if they are worth it maybe poor quality and what size I would need can you advise . thanks in advance Iain

    I love your video's! I'm a bit of a newbie when it comes to good photograhpy - I have the FZ200 and bought a Raynox DCR250 for macro photography (I love photographing small bugs). However, I wish I would be able to take pictures of flying birds. I really love photo's of birds and especially photo's with movement. Mostly, they are too far away, or it's blurry. I hope you can help me. I looked on the internet to buy the adapter and the tele-conversion lens, but I don't understand the part of the micro-lens. Can I buy any mircro lens, as long as it's 58 mm? And do I have to adjust the shutter speed? I really don't have any good experience with this so far, so I really hope that you can help me! Thank you very much in advance

    • @GrahamHoughton12
      @GrahamHoughton12  10 лет назад +5

      Miranda, Hi. The LA7 lens adaptor tube normally has a 55mm lens thread, the extension tube i bought was a third party copy which had a 58mm thread as i had the Sony 1.7x teleconversion lens which has the 58mm thread. The official panasonic lens has a 55mm thread which matches the LA7 tube. Yes you will need to increase shutter speeds to stop camera shake, which in turn means you may have to use a higher than ideal ISO speed inorder to do this. Image quality will therefore drop a little due to image noise. Given good light the combination of the FZ200, teleconverter and conversion tube can produce reasonable results for this kind of photography.

    Great video Graham. I take it there is enough space in the adapter tube to fit a macro lens and still allow full zoom or does it need to be a thin macro?

    • @GrahamHoughton12
      @GrahamHoughton12  11 лет назад

      Yes there is plenty of room, you can use even a 52-55mm filter on step up ring. The extender tube has a 58mm intermal diameter so there is adequate clearance and length inside to tube to fit filters etc

      Marvin is correct, you can use the AV video out mode to send a video signal to a monitor which is "live view" of what is seen on the screen prior to taking a still shot. You cannot use any of the video ports to stream live video in video recording mode. The eBook is available for free at www.grahamhoughton/download-section/

    Hi Graham, thanks for such a great helpful series of videos. I have both the FZ200 and a G5, Have used Panny Cameras ever since Minolta ceased. I have a query which I hope you may be able to answer, I have the Olympus TCON 1.7 which was bought and used back with my last Minolta, and since with the following Pannys. After trying with the FZ200 I added the LA7 tube, and now after seeing the possibility of using a Tripod Lens Collar support, well I want one. So the query is this, I measured the outside diameter of the LA7, and it appears to be 7.3cm. and have asked some suppliers the diameter of the Canon and I'm told 6.8cm. Now do my measurements and theirs sound correct? If they are correct, is there another answer? Thanks in advance for any time and help you can give.

    Excellent series, Graham, I note that when looking for items compatible with the fz-300 (which I have ),I rarely see this model listed along with so many in the Lumix range. I am looking for a wireless remote say in the Pixel range- a third party option, any suggestions please. I have the Tele lens which works well for my bird photography. I have several Nikon & Canon DSLR’s and too many lenses etc. I am scientific imagining specialist-trained at Leeds, way back. The usual LT55E teleconverter lens is sometimes hard to find. Using the Nikon TC series convertors is a viable alternative. For remote trigger either a smartphone and teh Panasonic image app is one way to view and shoot or you can still get the Pixel Oppilas wireless remotes. Another way is to use the Neewer FC16 or the Yongnuo RC302 flash triggers which also double up as remote triggers with the correct remote cable. Great instruction videos on your channel BTW

    • @ShevillMathers
      @ShevillMathers 6 лет назад

      Thanks, Graham, I have the Panasonic Tele-Converter and the extra connecting tube, plus a wired remote ($10) on eBay-the Panasonic version is over $100. After I had written to you I looked at my wired remote which comes in two pieces, and the shorter section has the right connectors each end which works with my Pixel Oppilas wireless trigger unit Also bought the Godox TT350 flash unit you mentioned in one of your tutorials.Also found a lens mounting ring/shoe on eBay for a good price. It pays to shop around for the after market options, they have never failed me in the past with all the accessories I have for my many DSLR's. I really like the Lumix FZ-300-again based on watching your tutorials-the f/2.8 aperture through the zoom range knocks some competing cameras out of the race. A surprising number of features in such a low priced camera. I will now go and sort through my various close-up lenses and try the getting closer with the tele-converter seen on your RUclips series. Kind Regards from 'Down Under'

      I'm sure with your engineering ability & machine tools an adaptor of some sorts to mount a +1 diopter +2 diopter lens to the front of the LT55e lens. As the lens is afocal it might still work by putting the dioptre on the main lens; going to try that might be useful.

Yes, I have an expensive doublet achromat close-up lens I plan to experiment with-bought many moons ago for other projects. Busy building all day all night auto sky capture 24/7 180-degree cameras at present for climate studies-never a dull moment at my place. Keep up the good work-it is time consuming but worthwhile.
      Kind Regards from 'Down Under'.

      just tried the achromat on the main lens and the teleconverter combination and it works very well. obviously reduced DOF but does reduce the working distance

    Dear Graham, Thanks for your video. Please give the size of Panasonic Lumix DMC FZ 70's adapter ring size and filter size. I have limited budget. so i want to buy adapter ring for filter. If you say size of adapter and filter, its help to me buy third party's item. Please give this information. Thank you Sir.

      I haven't access to the FZ70 anymore so i can't advise on the correct ring for the adaptor tube, maybe a search on the dpreview forum may help with sizes

      It's important to establish if it is camera shake, subject movement or out of focus. If you can send me an image showing a typical result (the camera image not an edited one) I will advise. ghough12@yahoo.com

    Do you know if a tele-converter can be used on an FZ1000?
