Adrian Smith's first single as a writer. Love the story about it in his book about how nervous he was when he showed it to Steve. Best song on the album.
If I'm not mistaken, he wrote it because after the 2 years Slavery Tour, he had forgotten his own house and he went in a wrong one 😮

Played this song for my wife and she couldn’t believe this was a metal song. I said this is what I love about people that LOVE music is they can take song that people would never listen to because of a “genre” and “reinvent it” and open people’s eyes to a great song that they might not be open to listening to before. Absolutely ❤ this version of this Iron Maiden song.

@@tomsenick2033pi listened to the Ryan version and they are both performed in a slow pace but that is also the only thing that is simular in the performances and i don't compare them and sayin that any version is better they are just different.

Can´t understand the hatred of some folks. I am a die-hard metalhead since I can think, been to hard and heavy concerts for almost two decades and will do so in the next decades to come - still renditions like these are amazing: They are honouring not only the legendary Iron Maiden but also music as such. Because music is supposed to make this weird and twisted world we share a little better.

This is one of the best Iron Maiden covers ever, it's blown me away with how it's reimagined a classic; it's right up there with Shawn James' cover of Number of the Beast.
I´ve listened to acoustic covers of Wasted Years (like the one that Ryan Adams did long ago) but you can tell Ian knows and respect the original, because he didn´t change the vocal melody so much as the others did and he also sings it with passion, beautifully. Congrats for this awesome rendition of one of my favourite Maiden tracks!
