    With all that the world learns because of her and becomes better due to her, hope she has a chance to be the young girl she is, too, and have education and joy. Last few years she had to face what no child should have to, and it has taken the sheen of youth away from her, hope it returns with college and further education she aspired to.

    but people around the world should understand that she's from a tribal area called SWAT, not every Pakistani girl has to fight to get educated nor every Pakistani family looks like this family with an uneducated mother and with a controlling father...
    we should all understand that she doesn't represent Pakistan but she represents every girl who has to fight for her basic rights whether she's from Afghanistan or from the USA!!!!

      If Ziauddin is controlling I'd seriously hate to see what you think of a father/husband who DOESN'T encourage their wife and children to be educated. I'd hate to see what you think about a father who beats their children senseless or starves them to death. Ziauddin should be praised for the efforts he has made with his family & for the worldwide movement of education.

    The Quran's very first verse is ' READ'....
    the Quran tells us to wonder and look around the creation of God
    the Quran raised the status of those who seek knowledge :
    “Read in the name of thy Lord who created;
    [He] created the human being from blood clot.
    Read in the name of thy Lord who taught by the pen:
    [He] taught the human being what he did not know.” Quran (96:1-5).
    Also , the wife of Prophet Mohammed PBUH), Ayesha , may God be pleased with her, was a great scholar, with wide knowledge in religion, medicine, poetry, and History of families in the arabic peninsula, she taught great companions of the prophet (PBUH)..
    Women are at the very core of our religion, her education is a gift and blessing to all the society
