A somewhat famous fellow RUclips content creator based out of Ohio, owns a few small businesses. Including a Laundry-Mat, and a Car Wash that's mostly automated. Found out from him that when the economy is bad, people will visit the Laundry-Mat significantly less often. But his car wash business never sees a reduction of customers. That just blew my mind! You'd think it would be the other way around.

I hear a dude will wear dirty shorts on a date before he will drive a dirty car to one. First impression are everything.
If the car is dirty shes never going to see the shorts

👍🏻100%. Especially the smoking. One thing I wish I had never done. After more than 20+ years of tobacco freedom I still fear the repercussions. With that said my wife and I would stop our car & get out to smoke. We did not smoke in our house either. Maybe that's why it was a little easier to quit than most people describe. IDK. anyhow what's up next.

I appreciate you sharing that part of your story! Worrying about the past can’t change the future, but remembering the past and always making the next best decision is what we can do! Honestly, since having the idea to make this video the last few days I feel like on every drive I’ve gone on since I’ve seen someone smoking while they’re driving. I’m way more cognizant of that now than I was a week ago, lol. 😂

Is it necessary to idle the cold engine until the blue light goes away? That's what we have been doing and that drastically cuts our mpg.

My first suggestion would be to refer to the owners manual. But I personally don’t wait that long. As mentioned, if the engine is cold I will always wait a minimum of 1-2m before light acceleration driving. But I know when I had my Crosstrek that light wouldn’t go away for sometimes up to 5-8 minutes.

I'd rather take a very minor fuel economy hit, than be spending thousands or tens of thousands on a replacement engine.

I run wide open until that light goes away. It makes the heater work better.

Where I live there are a couple of mods which increase a car's value. Upgrading cooling, and trailer hitches. If done properly of course. Because many people have things they want to haul.

Usually the vehicles I buy have factory tow packages, and installing a receiver hitch and auxiliary cooling for the transmission are definitely a must on a truck.....however, they still need to be done right of course.

I will never take my Outback through a carwash. I hand wash at home. Been taking it to the carwash lately wher I spray and scrub it.

#5, since the pictured vehicle is a Outback, and since Subaru no longer offers a manual transmission on most of their vehicles, don't try towing with a CVT anywhere near what their tow rating is. Towing 3500 lbs with a CVT? I can see, maybe, towing 1000 lbs "occasionally" with a CVT.

I either wash my cars at home, or use the hand wand at the car wash. I would NEVER use a drive thru with brushes.

Me too. Only drive through one I use is the laser wash in Wellsville. It is a spray-only automated carwash.
Other than that, I'll bring it into one of the garages at work on a weekend occasionally and perform a by-hand wash.

Ouch! I’m sorry that happened. 🤕
Yeah, in general I only use touch less or wash myself. But my Outback’s clear coat doesn’t stand out over the silver paint and really show swirls like other colors do. So I figured it be fun to show that footage. 🙂

I use the brushless carwashes but never use the ones with brushes, they scratch the crap out of your car. The brushless ones just use pressurized water, like a pressure washer, and work pretty well, especially the ones that get the underside of your car where all the winter road grime is at, and typically bare un-preserved metals under there that'll rust out quite quickly. For some reason this country can't grasp the concept that sand works much better than deicers, and doesn't destroy your car.
