What happened to Friday Night Funkin?

Friday Night Funkin' launched a Kickstarter that the developers originally planned to bring "Friday Night Funkin: The Full Ass Game" into life, people have to donate to hit the $60,000 goal the developers originally set to. People absolutely smashed the goal in just a few hours, so they are going to bring this into life.. but the development for the real game's release seems to be taking way longer than usual? People seem to not get what they donated as well, such as delays and more. 2022-2023 is also the era that FNF start losing its popularity. What happened?
Friday Night Funkin' (known as FNF) is created on Nov 1, 2020. It's a rhythm game that revolves around us as 'Boyfriend' or 'Player' rapping against all the characters out there including the real game and outside the game (Mods). Friday Night Funkin' has many mods and many songs to search, find and play, having different kinds of gimmicks, mechanics, quests, achievements and more.

Mind you guys since 4 guys were the ones who made FNF they werent expecting to do a full ass game so they came in not knowing what was in for them plus development for a game takes time, i mean take a look at sonic frontiers that game took years to be created and be brought onto switch and steam

Personally I wouldn't say that FNF is dead, since last month Mario's Madness V2 came out and got a whole ton of popularity; but it sure isn't as popular as it used to be back then for sure.

I replay a bunch of mods like doki doki takeover plus, retrospecter, vs imposter v4, etc etc. I still find them fun mostly because they have a lot of songs to play, and there are character cosmetics as well.

I believe one of the most replayable mods is Mario's Madness v2 simply because of the song quality, storyline, and just how fun the songs are in general. And it doesn't end the same as any of the other mods out there.

Juste for exemple the mario madness mode took 2 years to get the full mode and it has become part of the best modes created and the og fnf should have the double of what the mode had so i think it's normal if it still didn't came out yet.
