My father was an academic and had a huge library . When he died I was tasked to take care of his books . I went through them all and kept the ones I wanted but didn't have room for all of them . However when I was sorting through them and opening each book I accumulated 20K in cash all hidden in books .....true story .
My kids were cleaning their dad’s nasty house while he was sick and I’m the hospital- they’re adults. They found 36 unsecured guns of every kind you can imagine, ammo everywhere, 24k in a pillow case under the pillow he sleeps on, and a huge box of sex toys and a ton of, shall we say, niche porn - nothing illegal. The guns went to a gun storage facility, the cash went into a tax account, and the toys went in the trash because their condition was... shall we say, unsanitary.
They really regret not hiring a cleaner. 😆
@@debshaw680 guns to “storage facility?” Does that mean you sold them?
I had the majority of my parents books, no money. Interesting, to family only, torn notes used for bookmarks. I have many books of my own that will not ever have money in them!
@@FormerMPSGT of course not. They were his licensed property. There are places with shooting ranges with secure gun rooms you can rent to store guns. That’s where they are. If he wants to shooting, he goes there. He’s very ill and in and out of hospital so it’s not safe to keep that stuff in the house.
@@debshaw680 when my grandma found out she had brain cancer and only had weeks, she announced to the whole family that she was going to throw away all her sex toys to spare us. Lol! She was in her 70s. 😂😂😂🤦🤦🤦
I love how Alex actually isn't shy about the money aspect, like, he tells the viewers how much the house was, how much the clothes sold for, the skip, etc. Helps keep it realistic and is very authentic.
I like that too, although I think its also to keep the knuckleheads at bay.. They don't see all the hours of work & expensive. I dont get why he is paying wages to bag up the clothes ? Perhaps the clothes guy can help with that ?
He is one of the best RUclipsr's! his content is real and his friends are all awesome.
@@suewinston-elliott2674 because he has only 8 weeks to get it all out and he’s also helping Hanz and Zenobia at a time of year there’s not a lot of outdoor work.
@@debshaw680 👍
Hans & Zenovia also probably dont charge him much. He helped Hans get a whole house, so I think Hans would go to the ends of the earth to help him for almost nothing & probably also score some things they can use out of the hoard. Plus, they can be going thru the clothes looking for other items mixed in with them, and not bog down the clothes guy with that, as Im sure his time is valuable.
There is so much dust floating in the air that I want to wear a mask to watch it. Lol
😂😂 that's what I keep thinking

Right! They're both just precious people.
Hans sure makes this series complete. When he was wearing those wigs... PRICELESS! What a legend. 😂❤️
At least they find moments to have a little fun, too. If not, what's the point, eh?

Please tell Hans I havent felt like laughing since my husband passed away October 21st and he had me really laughing with those wigs
My condolences. ❤
My condolences as well.🧡. Time heals, understanding friends/family and trying to see the beauty of nature helps a great deal.💛. Im glad you had a giggle. Hans is gorgeous.
I love Hans and his wife! :)
I lost my husband 02/24/2020 so I know exactly how you feel. 💔After his death he kept me busy going through all his closets, drawers, garage and Mancave trying to unite cords with electronics and their manuals.....every item he owned seemed to have spread to different floors of the house like a giant jigsaw 🧩 puzzle! I didn’t find any wigs but I did find two brand new pairs of slippers still in their boxes under a workbench in the garage and enough computer external hard drives and other paraphernalia to start a business. Many times I asked him to make a list of all his computer passwords because he had a big computer I never used and all our past taxes resided in it. Well, his death was unexpected, I had no passwords BUT my son who works in IT flew in from Germany and spent a solid week in that computer changing each and every password and downloading 3,000 unopened emails. 😳 These videos Alex puts out give me laughs when I need them. Lots of funny friends, too.
My condolences
Top three comments on the hoarder house videos. 1) You need to check the pockets in all the clothing because my (grandmother, uncle, dad, aunt, brother etc, stored money in there). 2) Those scissors are for cutting herbs. 3) You need to get a tripod (chest harness, head band, etc) to hold your camera.
You forgot, wear a mask.
How to make that candle.
Comment one is driving me mad hahaha why can't people just like a comment that already exists 😂

I love Josh's integrity. "I don't steal" and leaves the coin where he found it. Cool!
I’m sure if he had called, Alex would have said to keep it. And he wanted to have a peep at the progress.

There have already been comments made, but a word about the fabrics and yarns. This collection would NOT have been cheap materials. Most likely they are one fiber material, a rare thing these days. Wool, linen, cotton come to mind. These materials today will fetch as much as $65 USD PER YARD, so it might be worthwhile to keep them for auction. I'm seeing several thousand dollars of good suiting and dress weight materials. Even if they are dirty, experienced needle crafters know how to clean them. The yarns are probably nice natural fibers too, so check. Given the pile under the stairs, they are "dye lot matched" which is supremely important for yarn crafters on natural fibers. Once again, excellent items for auction.
Yes! The fabrics have real value!
Yes Agree ! Recently sold on ebay a small piece of 70s fabric brown orange and yellow coloured, less than 2 mtrs or around 2 yards. I got $28 au also got it from a house clean out " rubbish bag" ha ! Merry Xmas👍 👍🎄🇦🇺😷
Agreed! When I saw all that matching yarn in the basement, I got excited. I wondered what she was going to make with that. She appeared to have been a crocheter judging from all the doilies and pattern books I’ve noticed.
I thought all the fabrics and yarn was sold with the clothes?
Xenovia was bagging some of the fabric, and hopefully not put in the trash dumpster.....
Every time I see the dust flying around I squint my eyes and hold my breath like I’m actually there.
The guy that you sold the clothing to is the one who's going to make a fortune.
I wonder how much cash may be tucked away in some of those boxes of clothes, hats, shoes, purses, etc? I would be checking for cash those boxes, as well.
I would have checked all the pockets, hat boxes and down stairs before I sold him the clothes. I’m sure there are things in them.
@Randall Johnson have you seen how many pieces of clothing he bought though? Probably 10000 tbh, he could bulk sell them all to someone else for 20k at $2 each after picking out a few expensive pieces he finds, easy 2x in near 0 time.. mark will do very well. If I was in Canada I’d probably pay 20k for everything he bought, and I know nothing about clothes 😅
Ok maybe 10000 is a slight exaggeration, thousands though I’d say
@@shelleypoole6415 yep. When I worked at the Salvation Army as a sorter, occasionally we would find a big was of cash pinned inside the sleeve of like an old lady’s or mans winter coat.

I was shocked by the candle. In the 70's I made those candles. They sold very well.
The ones I made were fill a container with ice and the wick and then pour the hot wax onto the ice and fill the mold. When the ice melted the candle was FREAKY with gaps and like, so that making rivers of wax if you lit the wick

Omigosh when you opened the cupboard in the basement!!!!! So many cute vintage ornaments!!!
I wish we could learn more about the original owners like we did with Mary. Them seem so interesting.
The estate probably doesn’t want that.
And greedy, hoarding all that stuff!
@@sassyitalian3157 hoarding has nothing to do with greed, it’s a mental illness.
Kat, I live with a hoarder who doesn't like 2 give anything away and when I even want something he's got, he says he will loan it to me. Lol
I really think it would be interesting to. I look at it this way, so what if she was a hoarder, I would think she would be like Mary, leading a very intersting life.
It appears that the former owner was seriously artistically creative. I've seen in this house a musician, artist, fashion designer, needlework, other crafts and a traveler. Perhaps a serial hobbyist. It seems that creative and multi-creative people tend to have difficulty disposing of things. There's always another use for something, or once a project is completed, there's a passion to go right to the next one without clearing out items from the last one because the last one has become non-existant.
I'm an studio artist who has a passion for absolutely everything creative and it's a struggle to let go of stuff that might have a future use. I sometimes forget about it altogether. I haven't gotten to the hoarder stage yet, just a controlled borderline one. It seems that as soon as I clear out a space, it immediately fills up again. A never ending cycle and I love it! ❤
The phone call was the lady of the house.. She's like "WHAT ARE DOING WITH ALL MY STUFF!!!!"😁😀😜
