Seriously, try the heels/butt/shoulders against the wall thing for posture. It was one I picked up as a gymnast. If you are trying spinning moves, and your body is not in a perfectly straight line, every thing goes off in all sorts of directions. So, all 3 against the wall. then slip one hand in behind your lower back, with just the fingers at low back/spine level. Try to put your spine on your fingers. You will instantly feel this mostly in your lower abdomen. This can also be done laying flat on the ground. That feeling in your abs should also be felt when you are swimming long axis strokes for least amount of drag possible. Just try it once and you will know.

Probably 99% of the swimmers I see have varying degrees of 'too much arch' in their backs as they swim, and in their stream line position drills. Another drill to try is heels against the wall, stream line position, and try to put your lower back on the wall. Note: this is almost impossible for most, but you should be able to get to the point where you can just slip your hand into the hollow where your lower back is. What this does is it forces you to tighten up your front abs, which is a crucial skill for perfect stream line. I can see a slight arch in your back, and with Feres as well. If you are good with 'feeling' the water, you can feel water flow all down your back when you push off the wall. If you have too much arch, there is a dead zone back there where you will not feel any water flowing down your back. This also means you will be feeling it all on your stomach, which again, creates more drag. "Suck in your gut like you are trying to put your belly button on your spine".

This is the app Fares was working on a decade ago. I totally forgot about it. I swim with my apple watch and the apple app skips laps. I just subscribed. I was dying in hospital with covid delta for 5 months and lost a lot of lung capacity, so when i start a workout I can squeeze 2 or 3 open turn 50’s (flip turns with fins) but the oxygen debt catches up and i have to revert to 25’s with A LOT of recovery. I am hoping this drives regeneration and I can get back to swimming 100’s, 200’s etc. i see seasoned swimmers looking at me like I rest too much 😅😅 i get it. Explaining what losing 100lbs of muscle in a months time and less lung capacity does gets to be a chore. I am just there for me to be honest. This app will help me.

Little thing, raising your arms like that with the shoulders down is gonna slowly cause you to have supraspinatus issues. The shoulders need to lift up for the arms to go up to that position so that you don’t hurt yourself.
