When I was a kid in the 1950s, and visiting London from darkest Africa, you could buy something called “dolly mixture” to feed the pidgins, is it any wonder they became a pest ? and are now have to be controlled by a guy who arrives at Trafalgar Square with an enormous bird of prey (falcon?) , which is quite spectacular to see as the pigeons scatter as soon as it’s released.......oh and, love the Tardis reference below....😎
This playlist is full of known people and things in the world. An interesting video in itself.
So want to visit here someday!
Thanks! I'll be there in 6 months!
Thank you 💖👨✈️
Hello, greetings from Tenerife, notice that Nelson´s right arm is missing,he lost it in July 25th 1797 attempting to conquer Tenerife where he narrowly avoided death, brits were defeated that time
Ah yes! I don't think he was a particularly nice man from what I understand. Pity that Tenerife now gets invaded by drunken Brits quite regularly! Thanks for watching!
May I say, that after being defeated, british troops were treated with chivalry, they were supplied with food and water in their way back to England, moreover wonderful videos wich I enjoy
And before also.
I ❤️ trafalgar Square!
In the 1970s I used to hang out here with the tartan army. When Scotland had a decent team.
Like your avatar NCC-1701 ;) live long and prosper
You’re a shame
I don’t know why I always assume these short anecdotes are sarcasm
@@stellagyan541 Never...I don't believe you 😊😎
You mean 1470's
As much as i remember, when i was at that age, is the pigeons. You have forgotten the most interesting part. In Trafalger square pigeons are not afraid of humans, you put their food on your head & arms, and they approach you and eat their food for just few Penneys, by then . Kind regards.
That police box may look small, but it's probably bigger on the inside.
Haha! Nice Doctor Who reference!
Happily have you join me to the pub and tell me all those fantastic things you know about London, wonderful!
It would be a pleasure :)
Been there few times
You didn’t mention there are two Nelson column in Trafalgar Square is one of two that where made. There is another one down by the docks, I just can’t remember exactly where.
thanks

Love your vids!
Hey Charley! Are you the Charley that I emailed last week? Thanks anyway. Glad you like them!
Well done sir
great joke at the end!😆
I can't recall which video it is you where you were explaining how certain phrases eg 'spend a penny' came about but I was wondering if you could shed some light on the phrase 'in for a penny, in for a pound'. My probably nonsensical thinking is that it derives from when people in the 1800's (ish) were charged a penny to have a wee, I'm assuming the pound bit is to do with having a number two. I'm happy to be proved wrong though. Love your videos by the way, very interesting.
Thanks. Well...I'll add that to the list!
Did they make a king William iv statue . And wear is it in London
The Oxford St in Sydney, is mainly lgbqt, but Oxford St in London looks way more majestic, aus gives Oxford St a bad name.
The fourth plinth is ready for a statue of Queen Elizabeth for when she pegs it
So the one piece pirate captain of the heart pirates was name after this square lol.
Normal people :- oh nice
Op fan :- its Law its law Trafalgar law
The pride people telling other people to get over it is great.
What's wrong with the posture of the lions? 😊😎
Ma sha Allah❤🤞
Great video. I'm not from London from I have been to London several times and am hoping to go again next month. I was wondering if you can do a video on seeing or visiting the Battersea Power Station. I've been trying to figure out how to get there but I think it's difficult because it's on the other side of the river, I don't think the Tube runs cross the river. So I'm assuming it's a case of walking across a bridge or getting a boat across? Do you know anything about that? Have you visited the Battersea Power Station? I only want to see it because I'm a Pink Floyd fan
The tube crosses the river at several points. Longest down escalators ever as they pass under the river! For Battersea try Victoria or Northern lines. If you haven't already, get a London Underground Map!
My Dad told me there was a bar underground in Trafalgar square back in the late fifties / early sixties, anyone know anything about it?
The Tradesmans Entrance, a gay bar
